  • I'd just like to point out the gross inaccuracies of the movie compared to what Molly actually wrote...

For example, Maude gave up her children willingly.. They were not pried from her arms, they were simply picked up. They knew it was happening. It was better for them than being ostracized by the aboriginals. Half-caste children were not accepted by either white or aboriginal societies. The bit about one of them being promised to a full-blood is a crock of bull.

  • @MrsKayKay132 You take care as well :)

  • Everyone has to realise that throughout history, people, not matter what race or gender have committed crimes against humanity but we all learn from those horrible mistakes and know what is right and what is wrong.

  • @OceanicMetal please educate me on what they did. and dont forget to include the part that white empirilists, missionaries, and colonizers played in it. Dont hate the truth~

  • @LIVEMeltdown4ROCK No, they weren't given a better life, they given to white families to 'breed the black out of them'. Do not make comments on something you know nothing about...

  • This scene could also be played out in the US - when the native kids were forcibly removed and placed in Government schools through-out the US

  • @danleafboy What the fuck? How can you laugh at something like this? Maybe we should take your children or family away and see how you think it's funny then!

  • @tina2deadly Point is - I'm Aussie and I don't reckon I'm racist.

  • dont know why they think they can whiten these kids up

  • This policy that was used is sooo wrong I cannot believe they actually did it.

Did they really believe that you can simple take tribal peoples children and raise them in a civil society?

  • There needs 2b some famous Aboriginal people& White Australians need 2face up2 how segregated Australia is and how racist it has been and still is.

White English people keep wanting 2move over there-I guess they dont care about Racism?

thats the first thing I think of when I think of Australia 'Racism' Australia is just like South Africa but South Africa called what they did The Apartheid, The Australians never bothered to give it name the just continued to abuse and exclude Aboriginal people

  • This breaks my heart.

My white ancestors were burnt at the stake in Europe by the Roman Catholics and escaped to America.

George W. Bush blew the faces, arms and legs off of hundreds of thousands of children in Iraq with bombs. Half of Americans voted for this. They make excuses and don't repent.

There have always been sick and evil people, and the world allows it. I'm waiting for God to intervene and stop evil. May evil people all burn in hell, starting with George Bush.

  • Oh please, GWB is just a puppet..it's like blaming a retard for all the world's problems. You need to blame the GOVT.

  • Off topic question here. At 0:52 does this not look like chemtrails in the sky?

  • Everlyn Sampi is my hero.

  • I love that little girl. I hope that stardom doesn't ruin her Spirit.

  • this is a good movie on tha real...

  • i love the film, it is so clever

  • Colonialism done by the evil white European is to blame for this travesty. Anything they touch is permanently ruined.

  • My heart bleeds (no hint of sarcasm intended) .They do this then they cover it up and pretend like it didnt happen, thery kidnaspped my ancestors from west africa stole them just like this and took to a whole new land they called Jamaica. They did this with Native Americans this is how they made Brazil. my god theres somethin so sick about openly doing this to people in their own land. Poor evil....(I've heard them mention anythin to do with this on Home and Away and Neighbours)Racist Murderers

  • @Applebaum

This crazy. you know a very good amount of slaves were distributed to Brazil. That's why today Brazil has the most blacks in the Western Hemisphere.

  • I know!

I said Brazil is simular to Jamaica in that white people kidnapped Africans to be forced into slavery...believe me I know

Brazil only legally gave up slavery 1859 my great granma was born in the 1880's! its not long ago

this part of Australian history needs to be taught in schools Australia loves to paint itself as being blond and white

more aboriginal representation in the media is needed its disgusting.

  • yeah, alot of people don't know about the Australian Aborigines. I showed my friends a pic of one and he said "what is that?", because of their features.

  • The African Diaspora stemming from the slave trade in the 15th century occurred throughout the Caribbean & South America. This includes Puerto Rico, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Grenada, Trinidad & Tobago, Virgin Isl., Mexico,Venezuela,Belize,Guatemala, Chile,Equador... Basically, All of Central & South America plus the Caribbean.

  • Ok Gemma australia hasnt got any problems with Racism

Australian Fashion industry readilly use Aboriginal (& non-white) models in every fashion magazine and catwalk

White beauty isnt seen as superior in Oz

Theres been loads of non-white Prime Ministers of Australia

Many White Australians dont view whiteness as being superior to every other race.

Every Australian outside the the Hey Hey its Saturday studio thinks that that Michael Jackson tribute the Jackson Jive was entirely racist and ignorant

  • @Applebaum Far out, I am aboriginal and everyday I get treated like shit because I'm black...do you really wanna say Australians aren't racist? Try being an aborginal....and yes, the micheal jackson tribute was totally racist and ignorant and an insult to MJ's memory...

  • @tina2deadly Where abouts in Australia do you live? Cause I've been to Queensland and the bogans there treat everyone that doesn't look like them like absolute garbage. In Melbourne however, everyone at my school reckons aboriginals are awesome apart from one guy whos grandfather was murdered by one but ANYWAY, I paid almost 800 bucks to go stay at an aboriginal boarding school up in Queensland and they were so nice and now I'm friends with one and we e-mail eachother all the time.

  • true true.. cept it happens even today. alot of kids are taken away from their homes due to the inability of the parents to take of them.. this time its true.. but ironically, just like 50 odd years ago, the rhetoric is the same. but we must understand, the inability, of society.. to assimilate with these people, in the last century, is the fault of not a generation, but generations.

  • @gemma1507 I learnt about this too, but through my family. I am aboriginal and my family were taken...I can see the pain in my grandparents eyes and in my anuts and uncles...they went through so much and yet we have people on this site treating them like shit...thank you for sticking up for us...

  • The taking of children from there homes was a policy seen in the United States also. For over 100 years Native American children were taken from there families under the guise of " the welfare of the child". This is a common practice to enforce assimilation, under the cover of racial superiority. Thousands of children were taken from Tasmania, some never found there way back.

  • Native American children, as well as African slaves, were used for abusive medical experimentation as well.

  • i can beleive that.

im aussie but i know little of Australian history, euro-american military/govt intervene with churchs and sciencists on natives- on its own not a problem. Against free will = Problem. Baz Luhrmann (dir. of Australia) brings this out well too. Nice to see its being adressed :)

  • don't get me wrong, as a director, i believe you have a duty to comfort your actors, but i still disagree he was 'trying to control them'

  • this is a very teary scene. its very sad to watch how the mother struggles to keep the kids away from the governement guy.

  • true so sad!

  • this part was really tear-jerking, I can understand why this was the hardest scene in the movie to shoot, this scene and the Apocalypto Raid Scene were probably the saddest scenes I've seen in any film!
