  • omg what will the snake do i am scared!

  • There is some really great music in this film, particularly whenever Black is running

  • the rock behind the boy, at 1:53 looks like the head of a horse :3

  • @Donut23SL ikr!

  • where is the black?

  • Seaweed..the breakfast of champions. ;)

  • I would have kept that rope just in case oh I don't know ......... tamed the horse

  • you can find El Mokhtar pedigree in the site of all breed pedigree and put there the name of el mokhtar

  • I believe they used 3 horses is this movie

one of them is cass ole,as someone has already mentioned

the other is El Mokthar, which is a arabian horse

for those who do not believe, you can access his pedigree here

    cheers

  • @acacioaugustopinto I the horse that did the rearing scenes int he second movie died in the middle because of colic is that El Mokthar

  • This movie makes me miss my arab mare. God rest her soul

  • @DollarstoreSticker Aw..tell us about her, please

  • To the morons that cant tell a Arabian from a Quarter horse the two horses that played in this movie were both pure bread Arabians not Quarter horses you must be stupid if you cant tell the difference between the breeds

  • Only a quarter horse could do the job!

  • @TheLaluna1 Quarter horse??? haha that's funny

  • If I have more time or free tonight I'm might watch my movies of ( The Black Stallion and The Black Stallion Returns ) also.

  • dat horse ran like a lil bitch though lOl na seriously i was a kid when this came out and today it just popped up in my head nd i decided to search it. All i could remember was dat i had a crush on alec.. and he had a horse... and they were like buddies nd stuff. I wished To santa to get me one... but we all know dat fool doesn't exist.. lmao now dat im wiser... it makes more sense to why i loved the movie so much..

  • do horses really make mammoth sounds when their stuck like in the scene in 5:00?

  • @lammas He was frustrated

  • @horsesaremylife31899 that frustration would get him killed if there had been any predators around. most horses would know to stay quiet no matter how stuck they where, wouldn't they?

  • the stone that looks like a face really freaked me out when i was little.

thumbs up if it scared u too.

  • I:58 , does anyboody else see the face?

  • love the book

  • 4 people got kicked in the face by the Black.

  • 3:06 When Alec turns his head and cries, it's so powerful. No dialogue; no music. Very haunting. What a great performer. He should have received an Oscar

  • @Trund27 He did later in life but not for this movie :l I was mad

  • @Trund27 Oh, I see, the silent treatment, is it?

  • @puterboy1 Uh, sure!

  • Th moment (5:22) when the boy frees the horse, the music comes in and the stallion throws off his ropes is so spectacular. Powerful and moving

  • The horse was an Arabian, and was very famous for his beauty, appearing on many calenders and tv commericals in the 70's . His name escapes me though...we have two 'ropin' horses, Rex and Brodie, both 1/4 horses, fast, gentle.

  • @usmctanks1 His name I believe was Cass-Ole'...I hope i spelled that right

  • @Trund27 thanks for that, i was going to have to watch the movie end credits to find it out again!!! LOL

  • @usmctanks1 No problem, fellow movie-lover!

  • gotta love the part where the kid cuts the harness off.. and the stallion throws the halter and its like hes saying "just let me get outta here"~!

  • I think the little boy that played in this movie was such a great actor for his age .

  • did they hurt this animal when making the show ??

  • @Tigerwarrior100

No! They merely tied him down, he was a very well trained horse, he was used to such things.

  • did they hurt this animal when making the show ???????

  • i love the music in the background when it shows black running

  • when he is on the rock, it kinda reminds me of lion king. lol

  • wah is the name of this films book... plzz it black stallion? dno

  • aww all those ropes and just one cut to freedom, this kid is even smarter than I remember! lol

  • omg this is my fav movie since i was a kid..im now 30^^....

    tnx for posting this..thumps up...

  • my favourite part is when the black runs across he lookx so stunnly beautiful breath taking

  • The kid looks like a young William F. Buckley.

  • What did he eat @ 7:32 ?

  • poor horse, tangled in ropes like that trying to get up.i feel soory for him

  • poor alec =[

  • Ughhh....I hate f****g snakes!

  • @miladyfencer me 2

  • i ment to say 1:54

  • i like how on 1:52 the rock looks like a face

  • i was 7 when I saw this.. 30 years later I am still riding...

    Thanks, Black..

  • @onelasssttime same age as me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:) mom still says i cried out in the theatre and asked if the horsey died:( will never get tired of this great film:)

  • you do have to wonder how they filmed this scene with the horse thought don't you?

  • there were several horses used for this role, the arabian stallion they used was not particularly typey. also the carefully preserved desert bred arabians tend to be more...substantial in appearance because their war horse background is kept.

  • that's a hell of a horse.

  • Cas Ole

  • I love how natural and quiet this movie is

  • @FriendOfAHorse Like an old silent movie.

  • The toy horse on Alec's shelf is a 64 Black Foundation Stallion, available from Breyer between 1977-1987. But the film is set over thirty years earlier.

  • man that kid did an awesome job on this movie!

  • @RizzyGillespie He sure as hell did! He's a soldier, and boy can he ride bareback! ...

  • I'm 39 and haven't seen this movie since I was 10. My sister, Nickie, had Cystic Fibrosis and was always sick and at home watching movies. This was her favorite! She died when she was 6. What a great memory... and will always think of her when I watch this. Great movie! Thank you for posting!!

  • this horse dosnt look lik an arabian he does not have that fine head or those crazy eyes?

  • in the books by Walter Farley, the black stallion was thought to be mixed, part arab part unknown. so it's part of the story that he is bigger and stronger than a pure arabian horse.

  • @lamoinette23 wasnt it Arab and Thoroughbred?

  • Good call. The Black Stallion was played by a QH stallion named Cass Ole'. He had some white on him that was carefully dyed black.

  • @Seeknhim59 your a moron cass ole was an Arabian not an quarter horse

  • I remember seeing this in the movie theater when I was a kid. Such a beautiful movie.

  • The faces in those rocks...ghah, that made me shiver when I was young...

  • i love the part when the horse was running. just Beautiful!

  • I'm 53 now. 30 years have passed since I first saw this movie. More years than that have passed since I first read Walter Farley's book which this film was based on. After all these years, this is still my favorite.

  • @horseangels how was the book was it interesting

  • @horsesaremylife31899 loved dogs + horses all my life. but between cost + space issue (can't afford boarding, don't have the land myself) i never had the opportunity to own my own horse. To answer your question, to me that means that any story that involves a mane, 4 legs, a tail, and a happy ending is interesting. other good stories out there with sad ourtcomes (phar lap) but i'm a happy ending kind of person. looking 4ward to the movie on Secretariat due out in fall 2010.

  • @horseangels Excellent.

  • @horseangels Awesome. Some books and films just stay with you forever, don't they?

  • @Trund27 They sure do. And right next to this one is Secretariat and right next to him a spot is reserved for Barbaro.

  • @horseangels Totally. I loved The Book "King of the Wind" by Marguerite Henry as a child..It was also about a beautiful Arabian horse named Sham and the boy who loved him

  • no matter what kind of horse you had, or for that matter what kind of pet you grew up with, there is a certain magic that this fim captures.

  • I love arabs, they're all so majestic and beautiful!

  • Wow, that horse is REALLY BEAUTIFUL!

  • I swear to God, if I have to look at one more scene of the sea, I'm gona puke.

  • This little Boy is such a BIG Actor...

    real emotion!

  • I certainly never pictured the island to be that big...or that rocky... but I suppose they kinda had to work with what was there...

  • Comment removed

  • poor horse =[

  • oh man!i'm really freaked out! there's a scary face in the rocks!so weird!

  • Thanks for loading this up.. Nice vid.

  • Could you upload some of the music from the film I am trying to find the cd but they just look at me like im asking for a push me pull you. Besides more and more cd stores are going online and my mum needs alot of coaxing to get anything of the internet.

  • at 7:57-8:02 i was captivated by The Blacks beauty!!

  • did anyone ese see a face in the rocks around 2:00?

  • ye! how wierd, lol x

  • It cannot be unseen D:

  • This entire time I'm looking at the rocks thinking "Oh my god, where is that? I want to climb there!" call it my rock-climber instinct or, whatever, does anyone know where this movie was filmed?

  • I the island was filmed somwhere near Italy? I'm not sure.. Island rocks though :)

  • islands in general? Hell yeah! Islands for climbing? Hell yeah! Islands are beautiful.

  • did u guys no when the horse is tied up on the rocks, while filming they tie the horse on the rocks of course but to make it get in the behavior, they whip it till he gets nuts i no that because my mom grandma worked for the company and she told me all about it

  • That's so sad :(

  • thats so sad. :(

  • Seriously? That doesn't sound possible; no offense to your grandma, but wouldn't it be pretty dangerous to get near the horse in order to release it, let alone act around it? Most directors aren't willing to put their paid actors in danger, especially since the kid who played Alec was relatively young and had to get very close to the horse.

  • you do know they can train horses to do all that including thiongs like bucking biting bolting

  • Of course. If the horse hadn't been trained, they wouldn't have been able to anticipate the camera angles or Alec's movements, it would have been nearly impossible to film.

  • I love this movie alot, but can't find this in Dutch-released DVD !! Who has this item,i will thank you forever ?!! XXXX Paul.

  • Aw poor love got tangled

  • I absolutely adore this film, altough it's no where near as good as the book.

How ever I have got to say, the way they enterprite that the snake's been stalking the kid is ridiculous. Snakes don't stalk, no wonder they get such a bad rep.

  • T_T Shetan/The Black is sooooo awesome!!!!!

  • for a cuute boy < 3:)

  • dream!!!

  • omg y have i never seen this film??!! its great but this ons not working :(

  • my horse is the exact opposite
