I cannot wait until Halloween. I have a Leatherface "Pretty Lady" mask and a realistic looking and sounding chainsaw that has a moving chain, covered in fake blood. I'm gonna scare the living shit out of the neighbourhood kids lol.
LOL @ 46:00 in!! Thats dudes reaction and scream is priceless!!! Leatherface fucks him up with that hammer.I met Gunnar(leatherface)at a convention and he was wearing purple chuck taylors and a light-up chainsaw button. He signed my fuckin poster.
@Theflashbabebanned lol that would be hilarious I watched it thousands of times and my powers didn't get cut off lol I won't be scared anyway lol!!!!!!
@kanojoe its based of ed gien a serical killer that lived in Plainfield, WI. that used people skiln for lamp shades and there skulls for bowls. what story are you talking about?
@kanojoe Technically it's true, but not in Texas. Leatherface is based off of Ed Gein from Wisconsin. Sort of like Leatherface and his family, he ate and made furniture out of people, and got away with it for a long time. He was also the inspiration for Norman Bates.
It's amazing how these hilly billies get away with what they do...we have them out here in Australia too...in remote area where n-one else want to go...must warp the minds...plus all the inbreeding...
When i watched the first half an hour of this video, it bought back so many memories of when i first watched this movie. I subbed to you for uploading it.
Now for a movie legend: The black trucker is still running!
The funniest part of the movie was when the truck driver got out to see what was going on. He was like 'oh shit, let me get out of here.' Also, I found it amusing that the truck driver kept on running when the pickup truck stopped to let the girl in. I can help but wonder though why the truck driver didn't just drive off when he and the girl got back inside. Just saying.
@GothicGal45 Gein was in a mental hospital untill his death in 1984. Gein murdered at least two women in his hometown of Plainfield,WISS. Their has been around six movies made.
@sundivinemusic Lolz here we go again:) This movie never really happened. It was based off of a crazy serial kileer from the 50s named Ed Gein. Well anyway he lived in Wisconsin && he killed a whole bunch of ppl & littered their bodies all over his farm & he cut off their skin 2 wear it around in the moonlight or somethin like that. Some ppl say he even made a belt out of human nipples (: But no there never was no such event of 5 hippie teenagers getting slaughtered by a chainsaw weilding maniac
@sundivinemusic Google Ed Geins bio. Interesting, if you want to learn about serial killers. Not only did Gein influence Chainsaw Massacre, but he also was behind the idea of norman Bates from Psycho and Buffulo Bill in Silence of the Lambs. And, several films were made about Gein. I think you can see all of them for free right here on Youtube. :)
Texas Chainsaw's lurid title conjuers up these ghastly images of a depraved bloodbath when in fact very little is actually shown on screen, the remake comes nowhere near as close in duplicating it's intensity. The 2003 Chainsaw had a style that owes a lot to Se7en.
i love how the girl is in the house and then leather face slides open the door and chases her, catching her right as she gets outside, brings her in and hangs her on the meat hook
If I have any more fun today, I don't think I'm gonna be able to take it! This film is a classic and one of my favourite movies. The remake was completely uneeded.
You know, every movie in the horror gonre owes something to this. You really don't see any gore or anything bad happen. But when you finish it you think you do. When really you saw nothing remotley gory, lol. That's how much of an amazing movie The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is.
@madahad9 Agreed. Larger budgets means a group of people discussing how much special effects they can pump in whereas low budget groups discuss about how they can get the desired effect through camera angles and timing. I miss the old school movies.
Among the most disturbing movies I've ever seen. Probably tame by today's standards but the minimal amount of blood and gore adds to the grusome atmosphere that the audience has to provide and put them in a very dark place. An unsurpassed classic.
@madahad9 I don't believe that this movie can never be "tamed" by any means. Watched it again for the first time in 16 years....still had to take a few breaks. I believe the only movies that even come close to or even over take this one in terms of disturbing are the 70's/80's Asian horror films.
@username00here There is a very visceral reaction to the movie and sinks into your head in a bad bad way and feels as if you are watching the sickest home movies imaginable. I can only imagine what it was like to see this on the big screen. I mean "tame" in the sense that it has so little blood. Sometimes having a low budget can work in favor of a movie if it has an imaginative director. Things seem to go astray when they start making movies with larger budgets and not so good.
@username00here If you're looking for something recent that is disturbing watch a film called "Martyrs". Absolutely terrifying and it'll make you think.
Have to admit the poor cinematography gives it an unnerving atmosphere. That's about the only good thing. This movie is terrible. The word classic officially lost its meaning here. -__- There I said both something good and bad about this flick.
How this film ever achieved cult status is beyond me. Violence and horror are not the same thing. There's more horror in THE INVISIBLE man's opening sequence than in all of this piece of sh*t, poorly lit, photographed, acted, scripted. The scene of that jerk racing around with his chainsaw is unintentionally comic, not horrific.
Not to sound morbid or anything, but i guess we should be thankful for Wisconsin's notorious cannibal, graverobber Ed Gein, who inspired both Psycho and this Texas masterpiece, and without there might not have been
One of my favorite all time Horror flicks, just a big time TCM fan got all the movies (minus the horrible Next Generation one) even got the old mask and new mask from the remakes.
