  • why can't we share this video?

  • this song makes me blind

  • I like the Adele version better, but this version is good

  • @australiaemma The reason you couldn't find the Dylan version of this is because it really isn't all that good lol. I know I would probably be shot by many people for saying this, but in my personal opinion he was an excellent song writer and not so great of a singer. I did however find this video of him singing it, although it's not associated with youtube. metacafe.com/watch/1291082/make_you_feel_my_love_bob_dylan_song_tribute_clip/

I also did a cover of this on my youtube page :)

  • oh and make sure you put w ww before the website or it won't come up. I couldn't do it because it wouldn't let me post the comment if I did.

  • I actually prefer this to Bob Dylan's version.

  • Billy Joel and then Adele - both versions great! I couldn't find the original Dylan version either.

  • Who played on the Hammond? amazing sound

    But a really great song!

  • i really like this <3 love billy joel

  • He kinda looks like Sylvester Stallone

  • Best. version. ever!

  • Our wedding song - Garth version...

  • this is such a lovely song

  • Straight, simple - perfectly done

  • Simply beautiful...

  • I could hold you for a million years

To make you feel my love

I know you haven't made your mind up yet.....

  • The recorded version is better than this 'live' version as he sings it a different way.

Billy's cover of Beach Boys 'Don't Worry Baby' is another great version sang 'live' - check it out

  • awesome words

  • Bob Dylan is my Father!

  • I'm trying to trace this song back to it's original form, whatever that was, and I gather this must be it. Covered by just about everybody, but I'll be covering the Adele version for a wedding, per bride's request . Does this seem kind of melancholy? I'm having trouble knowing how to interpret for a wedding without killing people. Gorgeous song, though. Dylan knows how to write!

  • @thekrausehouse2 This is originally a Bob Dylan song - you can find it on his album 'Time Out of Mind'

  • love billy joel :) beautiful song

  • I do pefer the adele verson but thats my opinionits a bit more upbeat

  • Awesome song.

  • I guess the 15 who disliked this thought Justin Bieber would be singing it.

  • @ritaanny0206 Your just simply Insane LOL I suppose Garth's version of Shameless is better then Billy's as well?

  • no one can sing this song like Garth Brooks, people please stop trying!!

  • I am thinking of this for my fiance and my first dance at our wedding

  • I like this version better than Dylan's. But his is pretty good, too.

  • @SaturnTrack Agreed- Dylan is a fantastic writer but vocally I think he's a little broken- in a cool way. Johnny Cash too in his later years went all broken but so cool. Bad drums, bad drums, bad drums, less is more Billy....

  • drums are wrong. dylan's is better. this is good though.

  • @jorsak I will give his/her version a listen :)

  • @phernwique Agree wholeheartedly--and thanks for background on song and why BJ sings so differently on this one. Great lyric and performance by all; harmonica is nice touch (Dylan-like).

  • best version of this song.

  • what year was this video made?

  • @rainbow2251 1998

  • love the intenseness of him performing this song.

  • Billy Joel is the greatest!!

  • I think He does a great Job with it. I agree with the others that say that artists that cover songs should give the writer due credit. Dylan is probably one of the best if not the best songwriter of our time. I only think the Lennon/McCartney duo would come close. Then again that is two people not one. I have always loved Billy Joel and he is for sure a legend. Its great to see drummer Liberty Devito with him yet as well. He has been Billy's drummer forever. Thanks for this upload

  • i just dont think billy should try and sound like dylan,to be honest i cant stand dylans voice good songwriter but thats it period.Hey why would another artist write a song and ask someone else to sing but you,ve got to try and sound just like me.No way totally did,nt get it.I think the garth brooks version is in another galaxy compaired to this,As is garth brooks shameless...

  • i really dont think this is rock. But its good music.

  • One of my favorites! Love him!

  • HOLYYY CRAPP.. ADELE DID A COVER ON THIS SONG I SWORE IT WAS HERS

  • @makeuplova4life It's a shame artists don't give the original writer credit when they cover a song... I love Adele's version.... personally I think it's the best one. Bob Dylan wrote this in 1997 it's on his Time Out Of Mind album... Bob Dylan has had well over 100 of his songs covered by other artists.... a true genius song writer.. type List of artists who have covered Bob Dylan songs into wikipedia they're all there..

  • I know this about you too ;) Hand in hand baby,... always.... I love you too my precious woman :)

  • Beautiful song<3

    Colleen Rose Novak

  • Make me feel? GTH mean Daddy

  • That is the Best version I've heard. I think that's Felix Caveliere on hamond organ and Mark Rivera on harp. What a great band and Billy Joel sings it great, with a Bob Dylan type of vocal.

  • @QuantumQuacks How do you define cheesy ? This song was written by one of the greatest songwriters of the 20th century

  • @royser1 True. One correction, the greatest songwriter of the 20th century.

  • I haven't heard this song before, but it seemed to be written from my husband to me. He was there when I was hurting and from the first time he saw me, he has always wanting to hold me and comfort me. It's been 16 yrs, so far, and he is still putting me before himself.

Thanks to Billy Joel for singing this song withal much emotion and to you for making it available. It is now my favorite song!

  • LOVELOVELOVE THIS VERSION!!! ^ ^

  • Love this song...well done billy

  • Good Morning...I Hope You Have A Wonderful Day!

  • Check out Bryan Ferry's cover of this song..pure emotion..best version ever !!

  • Hey Fozzburn whatever your name is. Go fuck yourself. You are entitled to your opinion and I to mine.

  • What album is this off of??

  • I love that Billy brought in Felix Cavalier on the hammond. Bob

  • So many people quibbling about things that don't really matter. The only thing that should matter is whether Billy honoured Bob Dylan with this version. I would say he did.

I couldn't care at all whether folks like other versions over this. Mind you I don't have the ego that others seem to have.

  • Give it up Billy! Sing Allentown.

  • @raaadja99 yeah go figure. Billy can actually sing. much better version. you can hear the lyrics and the passion unlike dylan who sounds like a doorbell.

  • Fantasticooo ^^

  • fabulástico

  • I quite like this

  • @Shindai

Well said! i would love to hear a Tom Waits version of this

  • Dylan is the best

  • i love billy joel but i prefer the garth brooks version

  • beautiful intro!:)

  • the winds of change are blowing wild and free ... you ain't seen nothing like me yet!

  • So how about the Bryan Ferry version? Stilted emotion... Does it for me!

  • Comment removed

  • this is for the song is for the love i left behind

it is for you Yogi bear! from NC

  • I definitely think that Garth Brooks has the best version, but I almost can't decide if Adele's version is equally as emotional and fantastic. Garth's makes me feel deep, sad, true emotions. Billy's falls flat and doesn't do it for me. I love Billy Joel, he is amazing, but this song doesn't suit him.

  • Bitter and angry much?! We are here to give our opinons, that is what this is all about.

  • Garth Brooks version has changed lyrics from Dylan's.

Check it out! - - - this version doesnt really have the emotional impact as Brook's or Dylan's.

  • Adele's Doesn't Hold A Candle To Garth Brook's Version

  • Bob Dylan wrote this and asked for Billy Joel to cover it for him. And Billy sounds like Bob to play tribute to him. The song is a gritty, stirring, poem that honesty isn't covered with the same feeling when its done by those other "softer" singers. Garth is fine and dandy, but Billy brings the Bob sound and emotion to the song as Bob intended.

  • @phernwique - well stated, exactly right.

  • @phernwique Adele has the right grit.

  • @phernwique quality, but Gamu did a pretty good job on xfactor audition lol

  • @phernwique I agree

  • I really love his style

  • garth brooks has by far the best version of this song, he actually tried to reinterpret Dylans song and thereafter every cover has been done like his, they dont even try to change the arrangements

  • I think Billy Joel's version came out the year before Garth's. I've always preferred Billy's version, though Garth's is pretty too.

  • ummm, you're actually wrong buddy. Garth idolizes Billy. That's why he covered Billy's song "Shameless". Garth grew up liking Billy.

  • i like the version of kris allen

  • i like the version of kris allen... Then you should go check out your local karaoke LOSER.

  • by far and away the standard of this song, only Adele has come close with all the subsequent covers

  • I think not leakymacleak, she could possibly have the worst version of this song. Kris Allen & Adele do a mexican standoff on who has the worst version. They should sing it together and then they would have the definitive worst version of all time. =)

  • Her Cover Is Absolutley Atrocious

  • @FozzyOzborne

With all respect, but I disagree with your opinion that Adele's cover of this song is atrocious. In this cover she appears as a woman of feeling, while neither Dylan nor Joel or even Luka Bloom put some emotion in this beautiful poem (which it is in fact).

  • @roy464 3 Problems With It

    1. She Can't Speak Proper English Long Enough To Sing a Beautiful Song and Make It sound Beautiful

    2. She Is So fat And Ugly If she told Me You Ain't seen Nothing Like Me Yet I Would Say You Ain't Kidding And Finally I Am Not Sexist But i Think That This Song Is Better Suited For A Mans Voice To Sing To A woman

  • @FozzyOzborne Don't judge others, and you will not be judged. She may be have some weight, but isn't it always "the FAT LADY who sings the blues", or "it's over 'till the FAT LADY sings"? Alison Moyet is a so called "fat" singer, so is Ella Fitzgerald (to name some). It might be that you just don't like female singers as much as male singers.

Concerning her pronunciation: You may be right on that (a little!), but your English writing is a mess too. (And I'm Dutch.)

  • bob dylan wrote the song with billy joel to cover it in mind...he made a demo and had an assistant drive it over to him

  • absolutely not true

  • whether you like it or not, joel set the standard for this song. Dylan wrote it beautifully, but the huge spate of covers recently are clearly influenced by joel's version. This song was always destined to be a standard, and joel helped it get there

  • bob dylan wrote this song

  • He singinig live in the video, it´s not the same version that it´s on the GHV III

  • @collinstestify81 but on the organ solo at least audio is different from video

  • walkingman 3. Now come on, don't be silly. Your Kevin Skinner slaughtered this in my opinion, but it is ONLY THAT: My opinion. I respect yours too but humbly and democratically disagree. Can't ever see me buying anything that might be committed to plastic by your unemployed farmer. Respect.

  • what a beautiful song

  • Does anyone have a link or copy of the 1997 Letterman show performance of Billy doing this song? Please send me a message if you do.

As a life long Billy Joel fan, honestly doesn't get much better than this. So fricken awesome.

  • like shit!

  • you tubers check out kirbyscovers he takes this song from the piano to an accoustic guitar level we wait for on you tube an undiscovered talent

  • billy is great but bob dylan the most vulnerable version..billy's version is abit cruise ship

  • this is amazing! david james archuleta would adore this rendition!

  • I've loved Billy Joel for years and I've listened repeatedly to every artist who has a version of this song on Youtube and no one can sing it with as much flow, clarity, and emotion as this years AGT contestant Kevin Skinner . I hope he wins!!!!!!

  • Ja....in fact, Kevin Skinner was the one who made me awake of this song. I just love Kevin Skinner, and hope he does well.

  • I like Billy Joel's version its awesome, but I will have to agree with some ppl here and say that Adele's version is brilliant!

  • What an expressive drummer!

  • Viva la Liberty DeVito ;-)

  • A GOOD COVER, BUT no one puts more love & emotion into this song than the master himself. Also Billy didn't write the piano(he did do this arrangement)part. Dylan wrote & plays a more tender piano. Listen to - Bob Dylan-Make You Feel My Love (better audio from hombsint for 3:35 min. It's DYLAN playing piano with a mellow organ accompaniment & his singing is one of his best. HE DELIVERS! IT'S WORTH A LISTEN. I can see why men would pick Adele. She & Dylan would be a smash hit

  • Heeft Adele het hiervan gestolen?

  • Pretty much, ja

  • oorspronkelijk is het van bob dylan ,...gestolen is een naar woord als je een cover doet van iemand,..dat is namelijk eerder een eerbetoon ,... ;-)

    take care

  • dit liedje speelde op de trouw van louis louise

  • This version is good and Billy is a good singer but I prefer the Adele version.

  • Billy absolutely killed this. Made it into an inteligible song. His voice is just SO good on it. This isn't the studio version. He actually shot this video live and this vocal performance is even better than the studio. For those saying garth brooks killed shameless, you should listen to Billy's shameless. The versions and voices aren't even close.

  • aww this was my dad's weeding song....that girl Adele has a beautiful version of this song....

  • By "killing" you mean he did exceptionally well, right?

  • haha naa garth brooks ruined shameless

  • Is Bob Dylan a great song maker or what?:)

  • I told my girlfriend that if we ever got married this would be our song! Sadly i dont think that'll happen ! Shes about 2 end us! Thanks for a great version Billy. Nice to see liberty on drums!

  • l0Ve iT s00 MuCHH!!

  • iconic....truly iconic

  • beautiful version....

  • 20, non mais desolé.

chui bcp moins enerve qu'en arrivant.

  • LOVE IT!!!

  • another great song of genius Bob Dylan, master of masters

  • as much as i hate to say it...not bad

  • Who cares what you think....this is a great version of a wonderful song.

  • just foolin around you lil leprachaun -luv youtube dweebs like you billy joel fan lol

  • Absolutely loved it! <3

  • So great to see & hear Billy & Felix! Very nice!!!!

    joei and jesse . com

  • Billy Joel is a legend.

  • Adeles, Bryan Ferrys and this are all great covers and probably sung a hell of a lot better than Dylan could ever sing.

    But they are his words......

    What a songwriter

I'm ashamed I've only recently started listening to him.

  • " i could hold you for a million years to make you feel my love" i'd start crying if a guy told this to me, and meant it .

  • What a great version! Billy is up there with the very best! Very moving... With BJ it's true: "it's all about soul"...

  • Adele's version is the best!

  • It's the best cover.

  • I LOVE BILLY JOEL

  • BJ should not have recorded this song - it shows his weakness so obviously; listen to Bob's original album version - that is the song as intended; this is just karaoke

  • Except for the fact that Billy Joel wrote the Piano part for this song, which is wonderful... and he shows shows that he can value Vocal sensitivity, with a touch of bluesy slides.

Billy Joel is a Piano Legend and a pop musical genius

  • Good Dylan cover.

  • Billy Joel... the man, the myth, the LEGEND!

    x

    One word. Awesome.

  • Id do anything to make her feel my love

  • van dik hout is mooier...

  • do you know billy joel in person

  • Not his best vocal performance, for sure...vocal expiration.

  • i love this song , makes me memorate my dreams which i used to watch in my early days of younger life

  • Love this version. I prefer male singers and hes got that great accent. Best version imo, Dylan is a good writer but terrible singer

  • stank?

  • He changes the key and the rewrites the song. What's the point? It's almost monotone.

  • Fantastic interpretation.

  • the harmonica and organ really make this song.

  • Really good cover.

  • Was this version in a movie? Its just that this version seems really familiar to me - and its not like I have any Billy Joel albums or anything so I'm trying to figure out where I know it from. Any suggestions???

  • Garth Brooks put out a version that they used for Hope Floats - the video got some airplay so maybe that's where you recognize it from.

  • Garth Brooks recorded this long after Billy Joel. He is the master of song killing. He killed "Shameless" too.
