I've got a question for any of you. Who will you vote for? Will you even vote? Can you? If you can and won't, then you are squandering an opportunity that I can't have for three more years, and that's just sad. Besides, this election is going to be historic no matter which candidate is elected.
If nothing else, this is a brilliant move if for one reason if no other. Do you realize that the McCain campaign just managed to knock Obama off the front pages? THE DAY AFTER HIS "CORONATION" ceremony? Heard anyone talking about Obama today? Right or wrong, good pick or bad, whatever side of the issues you are on you have to admit THAT, my friends, is a hell of a coup from the "old, senile guy who doesn't have a chance".
Yes, McCain doing something crazy will deflect the press from Obama's speech, but think about the damage it does to his campaign in the longer term.
How is McCain possibly ever going to be able to make "would rather win an election than X" arguments? The reason this is getting so much attention is because it's such a random, nonsensical pick that is a thinly-veiled, desperate attempt at winning over Hillary supporters (who are not nearly as stupid as he thinks; she and Palin are opposites).
She has served two years as governor - which makes her more qualified than Obama.
Sarah Palin is a strong, capable, intelligent woman and a person who I sincerely believe will deliver a profitable and uplifting future to the USA. McCain could not have made a better choice.
What are you on? Palin broke the law by lobbying for a piece of legislation in Alaska... She's under investigation by the Alaskan repbulican legislature for a variety of ethics violations... She has filed a lawsuit against the federal government, saying Polar Bears threatens the ability to drill even though shes acknowledeged it's be at least 5 years before any oil even is available)...
"Profitable" for the USA? Hardly... profitable for the Oil companies, definitely.
You have every right to vote for whichever candidate you choose, of course, but I suggest you find a truthful argument against Palin if you're looking to convince me, or anyone else, of her validity as VP. Simply repeating what you've read in other posts is not the same as educating yourself, and is not helpful to anyone else.
Btw - Palin is a pioneer in Alaska on energy reform, and is noted for her independence from big oil companies.
Deidra... please point out one thing I said that's not truthful? I'm not trying to get you to change your mind - simply calling you on utter bs.
She's under investigation. It is against the law for the governor to officially advocate for or against a ballot measure; And she's sued the Federal govt. - what her comment about the Polar bears is false??? Nice try. LMAO
You said "she's under investigation for a variety of ethics violations." She's under investigation for firing the Public Safety Commissioner. I'm unaware of other investigations.
As for her Clean Water stance, is she under investigation for this as well? I have not seen evidence of such. Again, educate me if I am wrong.
Regarding the state of Alaska's polar bear lawsuit, I acknowledge the suit, of course, I also suggest you read Palin's op-ed piece in the NYT regarding this matter.
To learn about Palin's independence from big oil, you only need to read her bio. She is pro-drilling, but Palin has increased taxes on oil and gas producers, and she's also working to revoke an Exxon license in Alaska. She further promotes alternative methods of energy usage. Seriously, check her out. From a source other than the Daily Kos, that is.
I love that McCain has to look at his notes to get her name right. He picked someone he had only met twice, and who's name he couldn't even remember. What an arrogant jackass.
If she's so independent, why is she pushing to drill in ANWR, even though she's acknowledged it won't produce oil, let alone gas for 5-8 years? You never answered my question re: how she'll be profitable for the US.
From a statement in July:
"Congressional approval of responsible petroleum development in the coastal plain of Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) -- the most promising unexplored petroleum province in North America -- would be of incalculable benefit to my state and our nation."
so you want 4 more years of the same? with more people losing jobs, no healthcare and the reputation and economy of the nation in the gutter... in hopes that Hillary will then be able to run, and win in 2012??? ROFLMAO
how many thusands of read women did mccain have to go throught to fine the one bi*ch that doesnt want = pay for = work, it shows he had to go all the way to alaska

Anyone who puts "Country First" would never have made such a terribly irresponsible and politically cynical pick for VP.
What's he think? Women are so stupid they've vote for ANY woman, no matter her positions on issues that they care about?
What an insult to all women voters!

# Palin is the least qualified and experienced running mate in the history of the office, 20 months in office, and none on the national level.
# Does anyone really want Sarah Palin a heartbeat away from the Presidency should McCain become unable to serve?
# Can she possibly face off against Joe Biden on any issue?
# She pronounces "nuclear" like George Bush.
# She supports Obama's energy plan, all but undercutting the one supposed strength she brings to the ticket.

McCain picking Palin is like an NFL team taking a Div-III no-name in the first round of the draft.

McCain has obviously disgraced the country with this selection. She is the NEXT in line to be President of the United States????
She has served only 2 years as a governor!!
All this was is a pander to the Clinton voters. He is not taking the importance of this position seriously.
What a sad day for the old and tiring "Maverick".

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Sarah Palin has completley fucked up Obama's "change" propaganda.
She IS the change.

And how's that? She's just another corrupt, oil loving, inexperienced Republican picked for party loyalty and fealty to the oilmen.
