The Dark Knight was as about as artistic as a comic book movie can get. In fact, Dark Knight was as about as artistic as a movie can get. If you didn't like the Dark Knight, you must only be interested in pretentious esoteric arthouse crap with endless tedious dialogue and meandering nonplots. The Dark Knight was superb in every aspect of film-making. 1. Story was consistently gripping. 2. Acting was excellent across the board. 3. Score was epic. 4. Direction and editing were tight. So stuff it.

Just because it is a 'comic book' film doesnt make it any less impressive or relevant. The Dark Knight is much better than alot of the films they had that year; Frost/Nixon, Benjamin Button. To disregard it as only a comic book movie is snobbery. You may have gone to a film school but film school cannot tell you how a movie makes someone feel or believe;, only how it was made and how well it was made.

And I don't know if this is your reasoning, but I think that it's bullshit that this film isn't taken that seriously by some people just because it's a "comic book" adaptation. No Country For Old Men was adapted from a book, and that won best picture. I honestly believe this should have beat Slumdog Millionaire. The pacing in that film is just AWFUL and the performances are forgettable.

I like the Dark Knight the best because, its so realistic. Its not people shooting webs while forming the horns of rock, or talking to dolphins or anything (Don't get me wrong, I LOVE spiderman. :P) But its crime that could be believable at this age (Yes I know Batman is wayy too strong, and has gadgets that are unbelievable, but its not too fake, just a lil' bit)

It's interesting because when I cast my mind back to Spider-Man 2 I remember the hype surrounding that film, and I felt the same way you did about this - good, solid, efficient film, but let's not get carried away with ourselves - yet at the time the consensus was S2 was superlative, and I've still not been convinced of that.

Now I do have reservations about TDK, but in general I think we're talking about a different league of filmmaking altogether, played at a very high level of intelligence.

True. Even I wasnt expecting Heaths rattling performace as the Joker. I still remember the shake I got in my seat when he got into his "Story" about his wife, and when the camera was spinning around, that scene was really capturing his insanity. And also when he kid-napped the Cop and dressed him up as Batman, that was so disturbing and twisted. I was quite litterally blown away by Heath alone, aside from the very strong cast and script, and dialogue that was as subtle as it was explosive.

That's very true. Some movies become a divided house of like and dislike(Cloverfield), it's really rare when most people can agree and be on the same page. Let's just hope the next Batman can do this film justice without Joker or Ledger as he is already sorely missed, and his performace simply cannot be outdone. While you are entitled to your opinion, Dark Knight was miles better than the first film. I think the problem with the first film, while it was a major improvement over the Joel Shumocker fuck ups, it got lost in it's own story trying to make it so believable. It's like the story was trying to convince it'self. Maybe you get where im coming from. But the direction and style was more thought out in Dark Knight, Begins felt like it kept trying to find its style. But Begins is a great movie though.

Christian Bale is the perfect choice being Batman/Bruce Wayne since the beginning of the first movie, "Batamn Begins."
