You mention natural hair care products I have my own hair care products and i am a cosmetologist natural hair care products is any ingredients that is 70% organic to hold the ingredients so the other ingredients is to hold the micro bacteria so they do not form mold.
I totally agree with you not to exclude products JUST because they may be targeted mainly toward one ethnicity. And a lot of people do put prominance on racial ancestry. If certain people are called black they get an attitude.
I have used this product for one week and the roots of my hair were soft and wavy, I went out to the sun all day and I was pleased, my hair remained soft and I am part East Indian, but the texture of my hair has changed and I cannot use the ethnic hair products are too heavy
is the leave-in for multi textured hair? I have many many different hair types in it I cant use alot of black products b/c i have an oily scalp, i hate that i have dry hair wth an oily scalp.also in europe youre not black unless you come from direct african relation. my cousin is station in england and has been in other countries, he and other air force individuals told me most people wouldnt believe they were black b/c they were directly from africa i guess they hold their nationality more dear
I am Puerto Rican with very curly, thick hair. I've used African American products for a very long time because...guess what...that's what works for my hair. I also use Dominican/Hispanic and some commercial (ie white) products. It's all about trying things out.
I do agree that SOME people say, oh I'm part this or that, because they dont want to be black. But I dont think you can judge people who really are. Or assume that they are saying this because they want to distance themselves from their black heritage.
If you are black and white and someone asked you what you are then you might say that you are black and white, even if you just "look black"
Re "biracial" hair: I have met biracial people with straight-up nappy hair. Can you say "Lenny Kravitz"?
Come ON, people...there is no such thing as "biracial" hair, just like (technically) there's no such thing as "African-American" hair. Hair is straight, wavy, curly, kinky, thin, thick, fine, coarse, etc.
When people stop fixating on stereotypes and take the time to get educated about their hair type independent of what the industry says, they too can have healthy hair.
The black hair care industry counts on its customers not really thinking beyond what's on the FRONT of the bottle. That's why you have this interesting juxtaposition: Black women spending tons of money yet walking around with jacked-up hair.
Currently the only "black" products in my house are from Qhemet Biologics, Carol's Daughter, and a little shop in Brooklyn. :) The last thing I bought from the "ethnic" aisle of a big-box store was ORS Olive Oil lotion which I ended up giving away.
yeah, you're so right. and for me, black products mean they are from black owned companies..not this dark n lovely bullshit.
Even a black owned store I went to had a lot of these commercial brands..I was a bit disappointed. Maybe I can urge them to carry better and more natural brands of products.
hi, um since my hair is starting to grow out since the big chop. my hair texture isent at all what i thought it would be. its actually the little spiral curls just like yours so is there anything i can do to define the curls?
I'm multiracial and have a 3c hairtype and the mixedchicks products don't work for me. I don't like the fact that it makes your hair hard. It doesn't matter what hairtype you have, from loose curl to tight curl, you can try it.
ok so why don't my curly fro come out like this...lol i think my prob is that my hair is much fuller and thicker. it is strange i think i am a 3c/4a/4b.
hey i went looking for KCC and they did not have it anywhere. so i am going to have to order it online. what do u think about care free curl activator gold? i bought it for 9$.. i am going to try it out.
Got that rant in there didn't you? lol...I understand what you were saying though. I have a friend who always seems to comment on kids/girls who are mixed and say (and this is a MAJOR pet peeve of mine), "oh she has good hair"...and I always respond to her, "so because she's mixed, she has good hair? Mine isn't because it's not as looser-curled as hers?" ughhh...can't stand that ish...I love my kinky ass hair, it's still beautiful and good hair, fuck it
lol I did rant..I noticed that afterwards I was like oh well ...felt good hahhah. But yea, it's really a shame that we have to put something in front of 'black' to appreciate it.. it's not necessary.
Hair is hair and made up with the same compositions, whether it's straight to kinky. We can use any product we want, I hate to see the "Black HairCare", section in the supermarket and drug stores. I have a friend who uses the Mixed Chicks and she is mixed, she wants a more tighter curl and definition, she seems to get it, and she likes the end results. You don't have to be mixed to try that product. You are straight to the point, and your hair looks great by the way.
Can't wait to see how your hair turns out. We have a similar texture and I was also curious about mixed chicks products. Your hair looks brilliant in this video.
Amen cuz I'm black and if they made it for black folks, I've used it on my hair. And just for the record, pink oil moisturizer is the devil..rebuke it ladies. lol Your hair's rockin today Missy!!!
i've tried mixed chicks and i didn't like it too much. it was too inconsistant for me. worked one day and didn't the next. i have that for lack of a better word a "mixed" hair texture. people ask me what i am mixed with simply because of my hair, but im black., half african infact, which in a sense would make me blacker than most, haha.
you being into the completely natural products would not like mixed chicks, i think. because it has a lot of silicones in it.
great video
