Blah to trigger haters. Get with the times if you want to play extreme music. Who gives a crap, and why? Drummer for 15 years here, hitting my physical limits without extra volume boost from triggers, at least for now.
Triggers are cheating as much as any processor/device is for any other instrument. None at all.
Man, thanx a lot for taking the time to explain all this stuff, there are not many videos of this new way of playing, i ad to figure all that our for my self, specially all that trigger stuff!!
Anyway, u are comming soon to méxico,if money isn´t a problem for me, i´ll be glad to watch you play live
I wish they would be more videos showing people how to do heel-toe like this. Not actually hitting the pedal with your heel, then toe. That's impossible without long boards.
hey man would you know if u could still do heel toe even though ur feet like overgrow the board bc i can't do heel toe that well but thn again ive only been drumin for 3 years no lessons what would u suggest? for pedals for monsterous feet like mine?
shyt, Axis longboards are great for heel toe. but now, DW made some 5000 series pedals without heel plates and extended boards, so now you can do heel toe easily on DW pedals. looks like there will be some competition. ahh, anyways, thanks @BrianH00D for making this video. it really helped.
should i buy the axis longboards or the pearl demon thingys, cuz right now i got some shitty tama double bass pedals nd yea so which ones better for deathcore/breakdowns/super fast bass.
Use to do these, but at slower tempos I didn't like the unevenness of them, they are doubles, I wanted singles. Saw John Longstreth (Origin) play, now I work on using the constant release.
If you slow it down, exaggerate the leg movement you'll just about have the constant release method and you'll go from doubles to singles.
if you wanna do heel toe on traditional pedals and not the longboards. it's a different technique, it can be done, but it's harder to do and you dont get to use your heel.
you just follow the motion going down and when you come up slightly you go down with your toes. it does work, but for the extra power, use your heel and the longboards.
This is a very similar technique to what I've been calling "Pressed Doubles"...the only variation I have is I dont emphasize the rolling of the toe, I actually rely on the lifting motion of the heel to provide the toe stroke... but ya...great job and keep up the good work.
i've seen them done on other pedals(DW and Iron Cobra), but it doesn't really work for me on those. I guess it just depends on the person and playing style
Are you really that fucking stupid? They have two sides. Nylon plastic and felt. Both have different sounds and bounce and feel. PLEASE die in a fire.
I have a cheaper version of iron cobra's (stagg) and size 12 feet (13 in US i think) and i can heel toe fine, admitedly its hard to go super fast, but I can go as fast as he shows and it is do-able on any set of pedals VERY easily, you just need to find the right spot to do it
I've seen Matt Sorum using the heel on the floor (off the pedal) technique. Superfast. He places the foot at an angle, like a race car driver, and uses the toe tips to control the pedal.
This is just me, but I prefer the leftrightleftright technique, simply cause it's cleaner and you're also working out your legs for better stamina and precision speed.
And it feels more legit.
And the triggers. No offense man, but you might as well be playing an electric drumset.
And I've seen alot of drummers fall into alot crappy habits on elctric drumsets cause they act like triggers.
I know exactly what you mean about the bad habits of an electronic kit. lol. I play one at my church and then I play an acoustic at home. It's weird getting used to.
the band should probably post something, because i get asked that every other day, and from what matt told me, they get asked just about every day on tour. I guess they're waiting until they actually get a new permanent drummer before they announce the member change
Hey, I've been playing drums for about a year now and I have only standard Pearl pedals and I'm trying to figure out whether to get either Axis, Iron Cobra, or DW7000's next but I'm not sure which would be best, could ya help me out? Thnx man (:

hi,
i use the #8 KICK / Speedmetal and pitched it down to -3
parameter: gain about 70, decay 20, xtalk 20 noise 40
snare# 63 /iblid same parameters but noise is up to 65
did you put the kick or other triggers into a group ?
manuals says cymbals to "multi" for example
i think it will be right tu use kick = group 1 and snare group 2
because if you play fast blastbeats, the upcomming stroke will abort the rest of the played midi sample to play the new again.
no double or missing triggers ?!?

in my opinion regular RLRL technique and DW 9002s are the best combination for double bass.
