to be successful in mma, you dont need boxing background because the stance and guard is wrong you expect an attack low instead of no below waist hits. wrestling background is essential, thats what makes guys like lesnar so hard to beat, vertical or mat. with no boxing experience but striking hard can be perfected in any martial art form.
