Terrific performance! If I may offer some advice-(take no offense )-finding the journey will give you more impact. What changes in this character during the song? What has he come to realize? To feel differently about? What is the 'event' taking place before our eyes? That will help you move past one static mood. Don't worry about being 'overdone.' Just be honest yet trust that songs are monologues elevated in emotional pitch to the point where the character needs to do more than speak.
