Marina is from my country, and she wasnt rich, or with "good connections"....as far as I know..She had bad experience in ex Yugoslavia, and nobody here didn't understand her art really...She was just devoted , and she still is..to her art...thats why she is successful...Money doesn't have nothing to do with that. I think that if you consider Sid Vicious or any of the punk rockers who did this kind of thing during their shows, you can get a better idea of what performance art is. The only difference is that she isn't playing a guitar while doing this. It is a way of "painting" with her own body. Pushing the limits of what we find normal. Which, is what all artists attempt to do. To get us out of reality and into another mental state. And, all great artists need psychological help! LOL!

It's not really "for the sake of art" that she cut into her own flesh, it's her not succumbing to the human fears of pain and death. You should read some of her comments on her art. She is a very beautiful artist.

I'm an art student. I like most of her performances and I understand the reactions she wants to get from the public, the way she wants to connect with it and make them feel.

I do, however, think she goes too far sometimes. Abramovic cutting her own stomach it's just too much. The message is strong indeed, but there are other ways.

Eppure si sente ancora quel limite fra il sé-soggetto-intenzione e l'oggetto-corpo. E' interessante chiedersi qual'è e dov'è..

no..il studio biologia!feci questo video perchè la mia tesina di maturità riguardava la body art...era un percorso che analizzava l'espressione artistica nel corso del '900 e il suo progressivo distaccamento dalla rappresentazione del reale che porta, come culmine finale, alla body art..in cui non resta nessun tentativo di raffigurare ciò che abbiamo intorno, l'arte agisce direttamente sul corpo dell'artista. il discorso sarebbe più complesso ma in poche righe posso riassumerlo solo così
