I had a standard 172, phase 1 and that could also go 155mph in standard form. The speedo may not have been accurate above 140, but sitting behind a friends BMW M3 when he is on the limiter is proof enough for me.

240 indicated km/h could be achievable on a good road but... how is that then it goes up to 260 km/h so easily? Must be a quite steep downhill, and must be very very near to the absolute physical limit of the car, as the engine cannot rev higher... he could have broken the block in half doing that :)

Estas equivocado Chucarelo, debes dividir 1km en 240 km/h, eso te da 0.0041666 Horas, entonces lo multiplicas por 3600 para pasarlo a segundos y obtienes 15 segundos, que es lo que tarda. Como bien dijo

No, it's 150 on the clock, however, we don't know whether this is downhill. Also, Since the 2.0 is not meant to do this speed, the speedometer will not be accurate at this speed. Therefore it wa probably going slower.

Its actually 160mph on the clock, although i agree, dials could be a fair bit out, at least 5mph and he must be going down a slight hill because the 1st to times he could only manage 240kmh which is still impressive but achivable with a fair bit of modification. I have a mapped 172 (+other mods) and afer 7000rpm there is a sharp dip in torque which mean acceleration in 4th gear is very slow and struggles to pull to the limiter, in 5th is worse and i cant see it accelerating above 7k unless hills
