  • @EAONG00 had you watched the video to the end you'd know that he died.

  • May Bo/Bobo remember the BEST 8 months of his life with YOU & thank you for sharing your story however painful it must have been... Bo, Troy birds ect... stories will HELP to make a difference for these beautiful feathered, angels. The loving avian community is strong & we will one day make a difference & stand-up against the cruelty & in the defence of these magnificient, loving creatures ♥

  • He looked so elegant in his sweaters.

  • What a beautiful bird with such a loving nature. Makes you wonder what sort of low life can mistreat such a magnificent creature.

  • thumbs up you cryed cause i did!:****(

  • I didn't get it. So you rescueded Bo and how did she died of abused and negletted. The rescue got her back or something?

  • You are an angel for rescuing Bo from that awful place. Bo looks like such a sweet bird and I am sure he appreciates what you did for him. Whatever time you had together was meant to be. Rescuing Bo was meant to be, so that you both could share a unique love and happiness if for even the short time he was with you. Im very touched... God Bless You.

  • this braught me to tears i am so sorry for your loss :(

  • gonna do anyhing i can

  • ;( my god so sad i miss you fudge

  • Im crying right now for real , this is so sad , i didnt no you Bo , but if i did i wouldnt spend anytime out with my friends , i'd be inside comforting you forever till you'd pass away happily , sweet dreams bo . Im crying for you :).

  • I hope that the people who owned that store were put out of business, at the very least. I've taken all sorts of sick/injured animals off the street to tend. Some died, but at least they weren't alone, they were warm, they were cared for. You gave that to BoBo.

  • sweet sweet bobo humans are so cruel, how can someone do this to such a wonderful sweet, defenceless and innocent animal... I love the quote ''they were never meant to look like this'' how true this is. please people adopt don't breed. I saved my bird a african grey (timneh) from someone who was going to just sell him for lots of money, before that he was captured from the wild....these animals don't belong here, my bird suffers trauma you can't imagine he's like bobo was a chronic plucker

  • i luv this video i cried ...... :)

  • that is a amazing brave cockatoo

  • bo will always be with you i know that you should be proud that bo got to have the rest of his life loved and cared for. i love stories like this people should rescue before getting a brand new bird well thats just me :P

  • I cryed when I watched this am so sorry he died! D'=

  • O4enj grustnoe video,zalko pti4ku,ja daze rasplakalasj

  • Geez if you wanna cry here ya go!...Im sorry for your loss he was precious and it breaks my heart. =o(

  • this so made me cry :(, poor baby bo, i hope those bastards that abused him get what they deserve.

  • This video breaks my heart every time I watch it...I'm so sorry, again, for his loss. I remember you saying he calmed some of the more skittish birds of your flock... He is in my heart, and he will never be forgotten.

  • 5 years today ... I said see you later for it will never be good-bye as long as my heart beats. I love and miss you baby boy.

    Mom

  • @SecondChanceBirds THIS is why I now hate the bird industry! I use to be a breeder until I realized what heartless humans do to them. My cockatoo is a rescue. She was kept outside in a cage by herself in Oregon. She was so emaciated that I had to hand feed her back to a normal weight. She did not receive enough calories to endure the harsh temps outside. My BFF was an amazon that I had for over 20+yrs. His previous owner also had him over 20yrs.He passed a year ago.My heart will NEVER be the same.

  • @luv4parrots I'm glad you no longer breed birds. There are not enough humans who understand their needs, top that off w/ their very long life spans when not abused and they are difficult to provide for, for life.

  • @SecondChanceBirds AMEN sista! I wish more people understood that! Btw.....I lost it when I heard the song that you put to your video. As I said before, my BFF was an amazon that I had for over 20+ years. It was a year ago the day after Christmas, that he passed. He took a HUGE piece of my heart and soul with him to the other side. The lessons he taught and the love that he gave me, will FOREVER be a part of who I am today. He was such an incredible life force in my life! Blessings to you! KB

  • I miss you Bo and with the anniversary of your passing quickly approaching ... I can't believe it's been 5 years for I miss you like it was yesterday. Please keep a gentle wing of protection over the Birds of Troy until they can be saved. The suffering MUST stop. It does make me gratful that I had 8 months to love you unlike those that died in Troy.

    Love you always,

    'Mom'

  • @SecondChanceBirds

For some odd reason, I felt compelled to watch this video. I added it to my favorites over two years ago, but today it stood out for some reason.. I didn't realize that this happened 5 years ago. I have a soft spot in my heart for birds. I've always loved them, and I've always hated people that mistreated them.

  • you wanna cry...watch this

  • very sad:{

  • We now have two bird, an Amazon (BoBo) and a moluccan. I cannot imagine how anyone can abuse these birds. They are a part of my family now. I understand they shouldn't be caged and we try to have our Moluccan out as much as possible. Our Amazon is never locked in her cage. He is allowed to go everywhere. He sleep in our bedroom and is our alarm clock. He whispers "good morning" and it is the most adorable thing. They are smart and lovable. This is so sad and disgraceful.

  • I have seen this video so many times, it makes me cry everytime. It makes me love my birds even more and treasure them everyday. Thank you Bo, you suffered so much, but at least at the end you knew love and happiness. God Bless your human mom for loving you and taking such wonderful care of you the last six months of your life. Fly free over the Rainbow Bridge

  • awwwwww poor bobo

  • im so sorry for your loss. I can't stop crying from this video... i just dont know how people can actually treat these animals the way they do... i have a catalina macaw and i dont know what i would do if he ever got hurt...

im sorry BoBo... no one can hurt you anymore

im sorry for your loss, youre an angel for saving him.

  • Every time I see this I cry. I have a moluccan cockatoo and he is so sweet. I can't believe anyone would ever hurt a moluccan cockatoo. They are so sweet and want to be with you and love you. I have never seen anything like this :'(

  • I get so angry when I hear about the neglect of any animal, but especially parrots. As the friend of a parrot named buddy that lives with me, she is like my daughter. I lover her and even work from home so I can be with her. I am 35. She 15. I've had her since she was a baby. And although I want her to live a long lfe, I want to outlive her so as she is not shuttled from one home to the next. They are such intelligent and special creatures.

  • rip Bo, I'm happy you had a good rest of your life!

  • I am glad that you got bobo from them evil people. that is so sad.

  • i live about an hour away from parrot mountain, a rescue resort for birds of all kinds located in pigeon forge, tn. this place is breathtaking! you can hold the birds, feed them, take your pic with them, even purchase a baby! i go every chance i get, theres a maluccan that has my heart, hes a doll, i will try to get the vids and pics uploaded soon. check out the website parrotmountain(dotcom) if u get a chance to come to tn, plz check it out! its gorgeous!

  • @birdfan4life76 You are so right. My friend and I always stop there after leaving Dollywood each year. THAT is how they should be able to live

  • o my gosh i just cried my eyes out! god bless you for what you do for the birds!! bo was absolutely adorable, im a huge birdlover, my dad has my quacker, her name is bo! shes so spoiled, she adores him, i rescued two birds, a cockatiel, charlie, his original owner was gonna kill him cuz one of his eyes is messed up, and pj my green cheek, their angels! i want a moluccan, maybe 1 day when i have the perfect setting! i will rescue one! bless u!

  • i think it is a tragic, yet beautiful story, not the life bo should have had,, but, his last days were filled with love, care, joy,,,,,, what if you never found out about him???? he finally knew what love was.......

  • Such a sad story.

This is why when i get a cockatoo one day im adopting from a rescue center <3

  • This video made me cry over and over. I just went to my parrot started to huge and kiss her telling her to never leave me.

  • @603Serena

i did that to to my parrot coco

  • What was diagnose with ?

  • i had an umbrella cockatoo, he was a persistent feather plucker even though he had a loving family, 2 weeks ago he managed to damage a blood vessel and we had to make the hardest decision ever to put him to sleep and spare him bleeding to death, most hand reared birds develop mental problems even when looked after properly, just wanted to make people aware of things like this, it was like losing a brother. he only lived 6 years.

  • MECRYED :( sad video

  • This video made me cry so much.

  • very AMAZING story about this beautiful bird im sorry for your loss i had the same feelings u had when my Moluccan died it was very depressing your video was amazing.

  • This is by far one of the most touching stories I've heard... I've watched this so many times and always burst into tears at the end. You are truly an astonishing person for this. I love parrots-- they are truly amazing. I hope to start my own bird rescue once I get older.

  • I just happened to stumble upon this while looking up videos of cockatoos... My heart really goes out to you, and Bo. I'm glad he was able to feel love from you and others before he passed. He really is such a hopeful creature... He didn't lash out after his abuse, but embraced others instead. I'm a bird lover... I grew up with an African Grey in my house. I don't know what I'd do without him. I'd like to make my next bird a rescue one.

  • At least he had a good rest of his life, no bird should ever be treated like this.

  • This is so sad. I have a muluccan cockatoo also. His name is Marvin. These are the sweetest parrots in the world. How could anyone abuse them. This video made me cry while I was petting Marvin and he was laying his head on my shoulder like a baby. I just don't see how anyone could harm such a sweet parrot. Or any parrot at that. I am only 16 and I help raise abused parrots. But Marvin is my first non-abused parrot I have. He is the sweetest thing ever. It's like I have a little baby with me but

  • I give u a lot of credit for being the strong person you are. I don't think i can ever move on without my macaw. You will receive so many blessings for being such an amazing guardian of BO...

  • I'm a bird lover, so animal abuser scums go to hell! animals and birds are our friends! not to be abused and killed! if you are going to abuse an animal, don't even think about getting one.

  • I have a Catalina Macaw. She's sick at the time, getting better alittle at a time. I'm a bird lover. This video made me hold, hug and kiss her and cry while i'm holding her. She's my life, without her I don't have a life. Such a touching video. It's like animals are humans.

  • This is crazy

  • this was a touching story and it made tears come to my eyes, last monday i save a cockatiel that had gotten a metal bar through his chest dont ask how he survived but i am taking care of him , it is sickening of what abuse animals go through

  • I was crying while watching this video!! We also saved a litlle budgie. She was nearly frosen and scared and flyed into our yard. She is now living in our home and i realy love her!

  • I thought he was doing great!!!!! what happened! did he have infection?

  • This is such a sad story... I have a cockatoo and I love that bird to death. The people who abused Bo are terrible and they should hate themselves for killing an innocent bird that could have lived a much happier life... Anyone who abuses animals are sick people and should be stopped. At least Bo is in a better place and he's happy now <3

  • This is so sad im gonna adopt another bird thanks to this video

  • Awwww I wish I had a bird

  • I just.. don't know what to say. I'm crying waterfalls right now..

  • Love to Boo THANK YOU FOR this video. I have heard of Boo.....courageous! Here is toBoo. warrior boo I met a cockatoo wild caught from Seram, Indonisia shipped to the USA 25 years ago. Damaged by abuse, bought at a refuge. She was untrainable, screaming all the time. I came to her house everyday and sat on the floor in front of her cage. She bit me many times. Seven years later, we ride through town on my bike. :)

  • So sad :( I feel like crying. I wish people would just stop abusing animals. Humans can be very greedy and selfish and discusting beings.

  • This is soo sad , and not the first video of this nature that I've seen over the years . It's such a heart wrenching job that you do - I have 2 U2 rescues of my own - thanks for loving our unloved friends !

  • I'm truly sorry for Bo. This video has done three things to me: one, made me cry over such a lovely bird; two, to give my cockatiel a loving scratch and show him I love him very much; and three: makes me want to adopt a cockatoo.

  • men ro gaya mera sath bhi yahi hoa mena grey parrot pala mar gaya 3 saal bad

  • very touching and enlightening video......i wanted to ask a question........are u sayin that birds in captive breeding are destined to yield such problems..............i asked cuz i was planning to buy.....no offence.........rply awaited

  • @PIYUSHGOD yes, many, many times parrots are abused. If they are not abused the life of living as a solitary creature often does damage to them. We must remember that humans are not the only ones who form lifetime bonds, family structure and need social interaction w/ those of their kind. Hand raised parrots are often confused for they are imprinted on humans but are not human. When maturity kicks in and nature tells them it's time to leave the family (hand feeder) they are stuck and strike out

  • my heart just broke so I gave mt keets a hug

  • why he plucks the feathers? will the feathers grow back?

  • DAMN!!!!

  • Why are people so cruel?

  • Birds should not be sold in pet stores! Only from breeders and not just any breeder, those that are certified. You can't adopt a kid without going through so much scrutiny. Why is it not the case for these wild, yes wild not domesticated, animals!

  • The locally owned pet store I got Ozzy from put me under HEAVY scrutiny. I didn't buy him, the owner gave him to me because he always thought he had a same-sex pair and was VERY surprised by a chick! He knew of my work with abused and neglected birds a few years back and didn't want Ozzy being a stud in a breeding mill. They watched me mix his food and feed him for almost 3 weeks before I was allowed to take him home. There are a few stores that are responsible, but sadly, not very many.

  • @Artista928 Continued- What happened to Bo in a store that sells pets is rather uncommon, too, as their aim is to actually sell an animal to make money off of it. Usually it's the bird mills that chug these poor birds out will do that to birds that can't produce any more as well as abusive homes. This simply SHOULD NOT have happened to such a quiet and sweet bird- I really highly doubt that he ever screamed for attention in there.

These birds really do just need to be left in the wild!

  • Having read his story on your site, there's something I've been pondering... how did the other cockatoos react to his death?

  • @c8tina they were all quiet for some time. Bart and Bandit who had learned his name would call him.

  • @SecondChanceBirds That is so sad :( After reading about the bond he made with Bart, I felt so happy that these two birds felt so much love for each other. Did Bart lock away all of that love again with Bo's death?

  • @c8tina Not w/ me, he is still relatively good, but he started attacking all other birds again. I can no longer have him out for play time as you saw on the bed w/ all the other birds. Barts screaming did come back as well. I always thought Bo was special but when I saw the magic he worked on Bart, I knew it. Another interesting thing is I have an M2 here that always pushes for the highest spot when out w/ other birds however always allowed Bo "the place of honor" when he was alive.

  • this made me cry. at least the last few months you made him so happy he went feeling loved. that's the best you could have done for him. i hate people who do this. I feel for this bird and never want people to do this to any animal again.

  • wow that bird is so cute. you can see his personality in every picture.

  • I have two sulphur-cresteds, one since four years, the other (eighteen years old and plucked) since just half a year. The plucked one has really bloomed out since he got here, having the company of another cockatoo, and he's getting his feathers back.

But since I feel they shouldn't be in houses, they shouldn't be pets and need to be BIRDS, I'm giving them away. I have finally found a home for them with a rather famous person in Sweden who owns a zoo and has lots of parrots in aviaries at home.

  • :'( sniffle good for u for rescuing him

  • As the owner of one rescue bird and two other parrots, I am deeply touched by this story. It is a shame that people would ever let an animal of this beauty and intelligence get to a state that it could never recover and die at only a 10th of it's lifespan. This country needs stronger penalties against the people who neglect and abuse animals. Kudos to those who try to nurse these magnificent creatures back to health after someone has thrown it away like yesterdays trash!

  • I have 6 cockatiels. Two were bought from a rescue society, one was a gift from a friend, and three were a family that could no longer take care of them. I'm not going to say breeding is bad, because we need to keep all of the species of birds around, but something needs to be done to rescue abandoned and neglected birds first. Imagine if I didn't take those three from that family that knew they couldn't take care of them anymore... I don't even want to think about what could have happened.

  • Why he died?? You rescued him.

  • @leogatobhzte because by the time he was rescued his body was too sick to recover :-(

  • I have one and know how very difficult they are to keep. the previous writers comments about prison and keeping birds like this is harsh but very true in my opinion. i have asked my son many many times to donate him to a zoo for that very reason. however he wont agree as he is very fond of the bird as i am.He seems fine but ive wondered so many times, is that a happy life? i doubt it very much. we have all caged these animals for our satisfaction. Does a few cuddles and time out make up for it?

  • I grew up with cockatoos, parrots, galahs etc .. so I am aware that when you get that cute little white ball of fluff, within a very short time all will change .. they will scream, not go near you, refuse to sit on your hand, chew EVERYTHING they can lay thier beak on, bite, wreck anything they can & constantly challenge you .. so I would recommend to ANYONE , please please research before you get a cockatoo .. spend time with someone who has one and learn all the difficulties your going to face

  • Thank you for sharing Bo's story. I have a Moluccan rescue Gypsy as I named her due to the amount of homes she had lived in. Cockatoos are an enormous responsibility, don't adopt one without really educating yourself on what you are undertaking. It is a rare person who has the ability and patience to share their lives with one of these amazing creatures. Again thank you for sharing Bo's story, made me appreciate Gypsy more than usual today.

  • Awwwww, it made me cry at the end! ;( I'm soooooo sorry! Hugs and kisses to Bo! God bless him for even being born to last the rest of his life with you. :)

  • Your video made my cry! I can't imagine the souless people that would do that to a living, intelligent creature. Thank God for you.

Wild animals should stay wild unless not able to survive on their own.

I'm 100% for adoption & against breeding. My birds are adopted with the exception of Elly. I was a idiot to start.

My babies are usually out of the cage, and spoiled with toys, and music or family members.

Want to help humanity? Educate about contraception so their's less of humanity to suffer.

  • I can se you tried SO hard to make this baby well again. You're good people.

  • I'm sorry but I just read the comment made by birdlady. and the answer to your question is YES!! Ppl shouldn't breed if they are incapable of caring for their kids. Just b/c we have the ability to procreate doesn't me we all have too. The only difference btwn our procreation and these poor animals is that we have a CHOICE!! They weren't given one were they!!! Most of these animals are forced to breed and then their babies neglected for the sake of make money.

  • I'm sorry but I just read the comment made by birdlady. and the answer to your question is YES!! Ppl shouldn't breed if they are incapable of caring for their kids. • i just started to cry!!

  • they can grow up to 80 years and this one only lasted 11 DX

  • This made me cry.

  • You know, my heats breaks for the loss of this gorgeous bird, just 4 months before he left us, Gabby was born on April 19 2006. Youve done a beautiful job with him & commemorating his short, pain filled life. I know alot about pain myself. Please let me hear from you on ways I may be able to help.

    Thank you

  • You gave Bo the best 8 months of his life. Im sure he will carry that with him to his next life & he & your goodness will never die. I sat thank you for Bo.

  • There is a truly courageous spirit in Bo & with the love & care youve shown him he has shown the true power of God's goodness. My love & respect to you for this dear folk. I once befriended a bird like this & miss him terribly. How can I find one that needs me like this lovely dear? Currently I volunteer at a inner city ranch. There are alot of animals there I help care for. I was given my 1st assignment, a pony named Golden Nugget about the same time. met Gabby, I have videos of Gabby here too.

  • PEOPLE SHOULD BE SO ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES! hurting a poor thing :'( watching this is making me cry now i want to spend more time with my cockatoo. i promised my mom as soon as i grow up i am going to save at least 5 animals lives. and i love how u helped him live :) that was a very nice thing to do and may god bless u

  • I wept at this.

  • @HotRedStilettos Listen i respect your point of view I dont disagree you got a point there nevertheless there's two points you should be aware of 1- Be positive the human race is really beautiful there's still clean souled beautiful people out there 2- we are not ignoring anything but there's people out there who are dying out of hunger and pathetic reasons where we can avoid it easily instead of paying for animals

Respect my friend im a big fan of animals i love em but not on account of others

  • @ramisama88 On account of others? You mean I have to pick one or the other? Shit! I was under the assumption that I could only help animals and people.

We are helping others. Animal abusers graduate to people. Therefore helping and catching abusers of animals does help people.

If someone is starving, of course I will help them. just because I choose to fight for animals, and think lower of the human race than I do them, doesn't mean I don't care about them hun.

  • @HotRedStilettos im really sorry i didnt mean any disagreement or anything like that its just im really unlucky in this life to the limit that i have seen people caring alot for animals and when they see a human being in need they almost would like to spit on him yes i've seen such people and i just wanted to clear my point of view and i already stated that im a big fan of animals i have alot of pets and saved some

    peace and love

  • @ramisama88 It's ok hun. We all have opinions. I just support life and all creatures. Human or not. I do think since animals can't speak, someone has to do it for them. I chose that but I still do charity work for human causes as well.

I do agree with you though. I have seen how the homeless or less fortunate are treated. it should not be happening and is heartbreaking at how some treat fellow man.I think it is wonderful that you have a cause close to your heart. I do support you too!

  • no we are evil. The human race is awful. I prefer to help innocent animals that can not speak for themselves. Everyone has a cause, whether it is the same or different doesn't matter. As long as we all contribute to our causes, and not just aknowledge them. I may be on an animals side but if you are on a human cause, go for it and make a difference. Just because we are a superior species, doesn't give us the right to ignore others.

  • DROPPING BY TO PUT BO'S STORY ON MY RESCUE ANIMAL PLAYLIST!

    Blessings from Linda & Geronimo

  • Me having a cockatoo myself, this breaks my heart!

  • Hi Sunny this is a very beautiful tribute to BoBo. He looked very happy with you. He enjoyed the last part of his life with tons of love from you. I am so sorry and sad he didn't live very long. I will keep you , BoBo, neglected and abused birds in my daily prayers.

  • Poor baby :,( I have a sulfur crested cockatoo so it kinda hits home. I started crying.

  • Yes i do feel sorry for this bird but before we should sorry for this we should feel sorry for other people who are being abused

im not starting an argument im not going off the subject im just saying if you have the power and the money to save an animal then sure you can save humans we are all brothers and sisters we are all the same before caring for animals care for people

the guy or the group who abused this bird should rot in some rotten place i would say

  • @ramisama88 there are more than enough ppl worrying about ppl. I choose to spend my money on helping voiceless animals who have no rights. Rapists and murderers have more rights than innocent animals who never asked to be in our homes, that is where my passion lies and I feel no guilt for it.

  • @SecondChanceBirds Well said.

  • @ramisama88 You have no right to judge what others do to try and make the world a little bit better. What have YOU done?

  • @TheSoSoAgnostic I am no one I am worthless all what i tried and i meant to do is clearing my point about if you had the power and the money to save animals then you should save those hungry people starving to death i never judged anyone i dont have the power to do so only god can judge people thats my point of view

  • (continued message) - would be much appreciated!

  • I just adopted a neglected and abust Moluccan. She is missing about 65% of her breast feathers, and only weighs 14 ounces at 7 years old...she is such a sweet heart, very loving despite her abuse and neglect. The rescuers told me she doesn't like men at ALL, but as soon as she saw me for some reason she came right to me and showed many signs of instant affection, I had to adopt her. She is doing well now, her dust coat is back and she's not plucking feathers anymore, any advice you can give me

  • @HavePride1 why not join us on our forum? If you don't feel like posting there is a lot of educational reading you can do. You are more than welcome to join us, we'd love to hear more about your baby.

  • i saw this and went to hug my bby kiko hes a cockatail this is so sad

  • god bless you. you made this birds last moments on this earth the best. i am sure he felt very loved. you are a wonderful person.

  • I can't stop crying......Thanks to you, he at least was able to experience some love and a decent life (of what short life he had). I hate people who treat animals so inhumanely. These birds are so intelligent and have such a capacity to remember. I hope, somehow, he was able to forget the torture and remember the good that you brought to him. Thank you for everything you did for him.

  • such a beautiful birdie

  • I just cried

  • Where Can I Save one =(!!!!!! I wanted one but now i want to safe one =(!

  • @ariann03 There are parrot rescues every where. Where do you live (state or country don't be exact) and I can locate some for you.

  • @SecondChanceBirds

    I Live In Québec .. In Canada ... =(!!!

  • @ariann03 Sorry for the delayed response. Please contact this rescue in Canada. They do not adopt out their parrots but they should be able to point you in the right direction of a good, ethical rescue close to your area. If not message me back and I can gather up the info. worldparrotrefuge(dot)org Won't permit live link so just C&P and put a period in place of the (dot)

  • @SecondChanceBirds I Live In Québec ( Canada ) !!

  • Omg I Am Crying right now ... so sorry for u

  • poor birdy! :(

  • I watch this often. Brings tears to my eyes every time. I just can not understand the horrible things these beautiful creatures are forced to endure. You gave him the best time of his life. The care and love you gave him is awesome. Bo is now flying free as he was meant to be. Forever in our hearts.

  • THANK YOU FOR ALL THAT YOU DO! I AM POSTING THIS ON MY FACEBOOK, MY SPACE, AND TWITTER PAGES. WHEN WILL THERE EVER BE LAWS TO PROSECUTE THE EVIL PEOPLE THAT NEGLECT AND ABUSE BIRDS? BREEDING SHOULD BE ILLEGAL BECAUSE BIRDS SHOULD OWN THE SKY!

    Linda Kershaw

  • @birdlady423 I have to point out that truly horrid things happen to birds in the wild, some caused by humans, but mostly not. Life is rough. At least Bo came to know some happiness thanks to you. Most people love their birds, and put their money where their heart is. For every mistreated bird, there are probably 500 mistreated children, does that mean people shouldn't breed?

  • @TheSoSoAgnostic Oops! Obviously my brain froze and for a second I forgot who I was addressing! Bo knew some happiness and love because of second chance.

  • @TheSoSoAgnostic Thanks for responding to my comment. Yes, I know horrible things happen to birds in the wild. There are 600 plus bird rescue centers in U.S. with many birds on waiting lists. It is so sad to see birds that were meant to fly to be stuck in cages. I do promote stopping child abuse by sending out videos. Yes, people should breed, but not the ones that are not able to take care of them. I feel much passion for stopping child and animal abuse.

  • @birdlady423 I think a big part of the problem is benign. The unique problem with parrots is that you can't afford them until well into adulthood, so barring disease or accidents they will spend not even half their lives with you! It seems that loving parrots doesn't run in families, and no one wants them when you die. I think we need to get organized. And rescuers feel like you have to pay your dues before you get a bird, so younger people w/o the funds aren't deemed fit.

  • @TheSoSoAgnostic That is so true! I have a niece who I know would want Geronimo after I die, but she is 3 and may change her mind.

    Blessings from Linda

  • @birdlady423 oh sorry haha i didnt scroll down to see your other comments ^.^

  • @TheSoSoAgnostic Birds may have shorter lives in the wild but they know freedom, they know unabandoned flying. Would you like to live in a cell to ensure you live to be 100 yrs old or take your chances and live life to the fullest until your time comes?

As you pointed out, ppl abuse their own kind so why should we have the right to torture other souls of the planet as well? We have to learn to love ourselves (each other) before we have any hope of ever loving and appreciating another species.

  • @SecondChanceBirds Your reply is intellectually dishonest. If you are going to insist that being a companion animal is equivalent to living in a cell, we have no common ground.

BTW, my 'too is fully feathered. She occasionally flies, then yells for me to carry her home. While she has a cage, but no stretch of the imagination is she spending her life there! I've had her for 15 years, so this is no whim.

  • @TheSoSoAgnostic No it's so honest that it disturbs you. How is living in a cage of bars, waiting for your guard to bring you meals ... oops I mean owner any different? Even prisoners get "yard time" and wait for the guards to bring them back to their cells. Birds are wild animals, by no means a domestic, they no more belong in cages than the killer whales belong in big "fish tanks". However the majority of the human race is about doing what makes them happy, not what is morally right.

  • @SecondChanceBirds I have to say this. The "so honest it disturbs you" comment is ridiculous. It is merely your opinion! Why do you have caged birds? Why not release them? Because they'd die! However, a captured wild bird with even minimal care will survive. Why don't you live in the wild? Because you'd die! This romantic notion of freedom is a myth. You need to read , "The Well-Mannered Parrot."

  • @TheSoSoAgnostic My birds are someone else's throw aways I did not perpetuate the market. If my birds could be shipped back to their native lands and released, I'd do so in the blink of an eye. That is a falsehood that caged birds die in the wild. The Birds of Telegraph Hill, Brooklyn Parrots website and all the other states that have wild (previously captive) parrots. HI has flocks of (now) wild cockatoos that were once captive birds. I DO NOT AGREE w/ releasing of non-native species however.

  • @birdlady423 i understand how worried you are but even though that petshop that breed was evil and i hate their guts their are ppl who absolutely love their birds like me i have two lil budgies and when i read them abby hayes books they start singing and chirping go to stargazrt4's channel and watch her vids see how much she loves them and cares for them shes a breeder, but your right about the part where they should send the evil ppl who neglect these poor birds into jail right away.

  • @pencilluna10 Thanks for responding! I believe there are many responsible breeders who love their birds. Every time one is bought, there is one poor bird that could have been rescued from neglect or abuse. The waiting lists are long for the birds that need to go into rescue centers.

    Blessings from Linda & Geronimo
