I wasn't too keen on the burned man. What I don't get is how he survived, he couldn't of survived 7 years with the limit of food they had onboard surely...
pretty good film, visuals were good, actors acting was great, story was interesting, soundtrack was breath taking. Although it has its flawes, but it's nothing big really. I recomend this movie. It was a lot of fun to watch it and all in all it was just... great...
@max19088 Me too. If they so wanted to add a horror element to the movie, they could've at least done it more subtly. I personally thought the scenes with Pinbacker were hilarious, often bordering on total ridiculousness. Not to mention the film lost any pretense of a mysterious atmosphere once he finally revealed himself... Also, some of the plotting worked only because the characters acted idiotically on purpose. I hate it when scriptwriters use such cheap tricks.
they send the captain and the only physicist out to do the dangerous repair work? guess what. the captain dies... not very bright. haha i made a funny.
This was a pretty bad film. The premise is absurd. There are all sorts of science concepts they get wrong like early in the film they say that they can't communicate with Earth because of interference from the sun. After that they pass Mercury. Um, hello?! We've sent probes to Mercury and even closer to the sun and we communicated with them just fine. The ship's computer is selectively smart, taking control of the ship to save it at one point but not adjusting the shields at another, ect . . .
But simply finding out he spend 7 years in isolated madness 'talking to god' is a damn chilling subplot. I think it would have sounded a HELL of a lot scarier on a screenplay, but no so powerful on the screen :(
I was impressed that they didn't really show him though, sticking to the golden rule: NEVER SHOW THE BAD GUY lol. works every time.

I agree completely with the 'burned man' gimmick. I did like the film overall though.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
it had its moments, but was mostly a lot of wasted potential and was transparently ripoffish.

yeah the old captain seems a little pointless.

Ok review but the obvostation deck dosnt let heat though but light! The old captain gets burt by light radiation not heat.

@leedsfan808 What do you think all those photons of light do when they hit something? They HEAT it up.
Get enough intense light and things will burn.
