Ok, this is the worst belly dance moves I've seen / I don't care how old the girls are.... the customs are worng, the music is "indian music" most of the time not even belly dance music...and I should know, I am a belly dance instructor from the middle east.. I hate when people call something belly dance that has nothing to do with belly dance.

First, I don't think the skimpy costumes present belly dance in the best possible light. Second, if these are truly high school girls, performing for a high school audience, it's disturbing that they chose such a provocative routine. It's even more disturbing that the school allowed it.
dude, they all went to a performing arts highschool. half of those girls were dance majors. the school gave us one show a year where we were allowed to do whatever the fuck we wanted. other than that i'll have you know that the shows were all orchestra, jazz, concert band, ballet, and plays done to some of the highest caliber in the north eastern area. laguradia highschool aka the fame school look it up.
they are not stripping you loser, which is more than i can say for you...you are just jealous because unlike you these girls have talent. stick to horses and stop insulting mid-eastern culture. some people these days...
I've been a dancer for several years now with proper middle eastern dance training. And while they have used the basic movements of dance, they have made it too sexy. True middle eastern dance has nothing to do with sex. This is to impress the kids at school. Just like 88meryt said, this is not true bellydance. I'm not insulting middle eastern culture, I have the utmost respect for other cultures. I just don't like girls like this making us true middle eastern dancers look like hoochies.

Hmmm. That isn't like any of the bollywood I've seen. The costuming is off. Bollywood dancers don't usually wear egyptian hip scarves, like belly dancers do. And if you don't want to call it belly dance, then don't put belly dance as a tag. Fun dance though!
ok, first of all, its not bellydance, its bollywood dance. second of all, most of the choreography except the drumsolo in the beginning is taken off of the music videos the songs are from. GREAT JOB girls. You really got the choreography down and the costuming is style and song appropriate as well just like the original choreographer intended it in the movies that the songs are from. Keep up the good work! I'd love to see more of your work.
They dance well as a group - they've clearly put some effort into rehearsing. The choreography is fun to watch. But gummibears, I don't understand at all why you called this belly dancing because that's not what they're doing. I think if you had labeled this properly you wouldn't have gotten nearly so many hostile comments. Still, I hope the girls received positive feedback on their performance, because they clearly worked hard and did a good job.

Choreography's very good considering their age and experience. However... well, I'm all for presenting a sexy image, but I wish they had worn something more substantial on their lower half. I hope they learn from these negative comments and don't give up ...

(dance performance.) and i think they wanted to go out with a bang. and i believe they did.
they're all born and raised new yorkers. but one is romanian, one is indian (asian), one is hispanic, one is .... i don't know. but it's a very diverse group of people.

But it doesn't matter. I'll tell you one. I didn't get the very ending. I thought the whole dance was high energy and the ending left me wanting more and I HATE that feeling. HAHAHA. The dancing was incredible. i think the costumes are fun ,if they can work it then bravo. the routine was great and they were all awesome dancers. im hoping one day i will be able to do such a great job.
As a dancer and choreographer, I thought that thia was unique and beautifuly passionate. They felt the music, and not only did bellydancing...but also created a new style of it...and thats not always an easy thing to do succesfully :)

I think for a bunch of high schoolers, they did a pretty good job. . . no one knows if what the dancers called their show was authentic belly dancing. . thats just what the video poster labeled it. I must comment on this video, I think it is charming. Knowing that this is a talent show and the girls are not claiming to be authentic bellydancers, I found their choreography and dancing excellent. If they decided to undertake bellydance as a serious study, they would be an exceptional dance troupe with their skills of layering, agility, and dance talent. They are absolutely charming. Haterater22 is ignorant. She posted a negative comment on my site on a very talented Lebanese dancer. It sees anywhere I find a comment by her it is negative or she insults dancers. She claims to be a dancer from New York City in a way that is supposed to intimidate us but does not reveal her identity. I believe she is a beginner student with no talent of herself.

i could not agree with you any more...i had a conversation with someone who claims to be lebanese..but the thing is where i am from, all the people are mixed. but she tried to tell me that egypt is not part of africa and that belly dancing has no african roots and a whole bunch of stuff that did not make sense..i have been studying history for 5 years. i know what i am talking about.

.. i'm not arabic and i belly dance and FYI i work at pizza hut and the guy who makes the pizza is chinese. and actually since he started working the pizza tastes better(irrelevent but true). like chill the hell out man, they're teens and like gummie said, they're not even dance majors. a traditional belly dance probably would have just made the crowd bored, utting in some new stuff is good for both teens and real belly dancers.

What is wrong with you people? They didn't claim they were TRADITIONAL belly dancers. At least they're being original and creative by creating a routine that incorporates other dance styles. They haven't dressed "slutty" at all, they've only exposed their arms, legs and stomach, haven't you seen a girl in a bikini before?...Why don't you start wearing a potato sack over your head?

Choreography's very good considering their age and experience. However... well, I'm all for presenting a sexy image, but I wish they had worn something more substantial on their lower half. I hope they learn from these negative comments and don't give up ...

thanks for the positive comments. and yeah, i do agree that it was a little exposed, but i mean, they were going for the sex appeal thing and i believe it worked. and also, none of them are dance majors and this was their last performance in high school ever. (dance performance.) and i think they wanted to go out with a bang. and i believe they did.

I think you girls did a wonderful job! Don't worry about the people who have nothing better to say and continue to waste your time. I think you did very well. I only had 2 problems. But it doesn't matter. I'll tell you one. I didn't get the very ending. I thought the whole dance was high energy and the ending left me wanting more and I HATE that feeling. HAHAHA. The dancing was incredible. i think the costumes are fun ,if they can work it then bravo. the routine was great and they were all awesome dancers. im hoping one day i will be able to do such a great job.

As a dancer and choreographer, I thought that thia was unique and beautifuly passionate. They felt the music, and not only did bellydancing...but also created a new style of it...and thats not always an easy thing to do succesfully :)

I think for a bunch of high schoolers, they did a pretty good job. . . no one knows if what the dancers called their show was authentic belly dancing. . thats just what the video poster labeled it. They were trying to entertain and they did, regardless of genre. Why don't all the 30 year olds who are bad mouthing a bunch of kids go get a job or something. . really sad.

I think whoever choreographed that set has talent. I liked their use of the stage, and group dynamics. It's fusion-fun.

I must comment on this video, I think it is charming. Knowing that this is a talent show and the girls are not claiming to be authentic bellydancers, I found their choreography and dancing excellent. If they decided to undertake bellydance as a serious study, they would be an exceptional dance troupe with their skills of layering, agility, and dance talent. They are absolutely charming. Haterater22 is ignorant. She posted a negative comment on my site on a very talented Lebanese dancer. It sees anywhere I find a comment by her it is negative or she insults dancers. She claims to be a dancer from New York City in a way that is supposed to intimidate us but does not reveal her identity. I believe she is a beginner student with no talent of herself.
