There's this website called "Nirvana live guide" that has the listings of every gig Nirvana ever did, the details of each one, how many people were there, pretty cool stuff. But what got me about it was how these guys just suddenly exploded , really bizarre. For 2 years they would be playing in dive bars with nobody in the audience, maybe 10-20 people, then all of a sudden *boom* 1000 people would be showing up and this is well before Nevermind came out.
