  • I wish I would have been there - That must have been wild

  • john sykes rockin it in an irish pub. Fuckin epic. Look at him shred that shit. And btw u2 arent a bad band, they have some good songs. Not in the same league as thin lizzy OBVIOUSLY. And kydos whats wrong with not paying taxes? lol the corrupt as fuck capitalist society dosent need more taxes, in fact they need less. Paying taxes and being proud of it makes you worse than people that are proud of not paying them.

  • U2 are the village idiot compared to these for fucks sake.

No comparison, Phil and the rest can play and don`t think they are god.

  • I wonder who is the ONLY fuck not to like this?

  • This is a studio set in England. Recorded for a programme called Saturday Stayback, featuring Chris Tarrant.

  • Wow this is cool stuff!

  • this is beyond spinal tap.

  • Boyoz, I am an Aussie thru & thru and I could agree with you more!! Thin Lizzy Rocked!! and were DEFINITELY the best rock band to come out of Ireland !!!

  • This ROCKS! My favorite version of the song on YouTube. Audio's a little muffed (dude was probably way too close to the P.A.) but hey, you can't get any better than 10 ft or less from one of the GREATEST ROCK BANDS EVER! This is the way to see them. 'Coz after the show, you won't be able to hear much if you have any eardrums left at all.

  • wish I was there, beer and Lizzy in your face!!!! fuck me heaven

  • Video cameras in those days didn't have the capacity for good sound ...they still don't !

Try taping the next Ricky Martin gig you go to and you'll see...just don't get your usual front row seat..stay back about ten rows !!

  • @sidneywatts42 Yes ! I was there ! My name is Peter Eustace, i was Lizzy's sound tech for 7 years .....

  • @1986Lynott Hi Peter, are you still mixing sound? I`m just back here in Cork tonite after visiting the Phil Lynott expo in Dublin, great memories of him and the band, Philomena was there and meant to ask her about you but didn`t get round to it.

  • This was actualy in the `Aspley Cottage `pub round the back of the Manchester Apollo,it was after their gig there in 1983 on the Final tour.

It was broadcast on OTT live, the adult version of Tiswas on ITV late on the Saturday night.

  • @stratabacca Ive been saying it for years..this isnt in an Irish pub !! But it was not after a gig it was the night before the TL tour started

    Edit/Delete Message

  • THIN LIZZY WILL RULE THROUGHOUT THE REST OF TIME. To bad they never got bigger in the states.

  • Sharing this is worth so much...so much.

  • Fuck U2......their name shouldn't even be polluting a Thin Lizzy video. The Edge said that the guitar is a glorified peice of wood and that an effects pedal is everything that makes a guitar. Shows what a musician he is......

  • This was on a TV show presented by Chris Evans back in the eighties. The set was dome up to look like a local pub. 'Kin great sound!

  • This is what Rock"n Roll is about!

  • RAW POWER! :)

  • Whata load of old bollocks ,now wheres my Dubliners cd

  • His is the only grave in St. Fintan's that has stuff allowed on it. No sign of vandalism. That's respect.

  • Fuck me, listening to this on earphones and I nearly blew my eardrums!!

  • @Nautilus1972 same here, loud ass video

  • FUCKKKKKK!! That rocks! Soundest like the loudest thing in the world as well.

  • Holy shit! I just got my face melted off!

  • Anyone know what pub this is ?

  • FANTASTIC NUMBER fantastic solo from John Sykes

  • Gotta love F# if you are a guitarist.

  • Phil Lynot / Thin Lizzy....sadly missed. Great upload.

  • Nice Solo ...

  • Thanks soo much for this upload!! I can finally see all the correct notes to get the solo down!! Legend!!

  • @foosrockguitarriffs Sorry, what? Unless you have superman eyes you have only see less than half of the solo, and even the bit you do see is quite hard to decipher.

  • 0:12 - Dave Mustaine?!

  • The leads too LA style for me but ya gotta love Phil. One of the greatest.

  • Great song by a great band. John Sykes and Scott Gorham were awesome together just like when "Robbo" was in the band playing dual leads with Scott. I agree with fiveortenbren about Thin Lizzy being the best Irish rock band.

    R.I.P. Phil Lynott

  • Thin Lizzy are classssssssssssssssssss! and U2 are shit, overrated as fuck

  • Wish I'd been there!

  • lizzy with phil's soulfull irish lyrics and hard hitting metal sound kick serious ass !!!!!

  • Sergioloser you are absolutely right about Canadian radio. It's shit! The CBC only plays, "art" music and if you aren't a struggling shit band from Vancouver, Toronto or Montreal you'll never get heard. Canadians reward failure and punish success for some weird reason. Too, many fucking Liberal whiners in Canada I guess.

  • CBC is the one single federal radio station. Every city has its own radio stations just like American cities. CBC is a little artsy, but it's not remotely representative of what people listen to in their cars or basements.

  • One of the greatest Rockbands ever.

    R.I.P. Phil

  • Unfortunately here in Canada, due to the limited minds of the FM stations, and CRTC regulations, you only hear 2-3 songs on the radio (Boys Are Back in Town, Jailbreak and maybe The Cowboy Song) by Phil and co. Thunder and Lightning is a great album - one of Thin Lizzy's best. None of the rock fans I know listen to these guys. What a shame! Check out Live in Sydney (1978) if you get the chance, short but very sweet, with Gary Moore on guitar. Man I love that guy's playing!

  • Excuse me, is that John Sykes on the left side playing a Les Paul? Who plays that finger tapping solo. And who is the dude on the right side? It's Mike Stern, right?

  • anyone notice a complete resemblence to robbie williams new somg?? the rip off cunt.

  • What would be the song title Keith ?

  • Sorry emotional invalid you are so wrong. Thin Lizzy are without doubt the best live band I have ever seen or heard, always great. I have saw Phil do this live in a pub in Bannockburn ( The Tamdhu ) It was when Phil's Band, Grand Slam were on tour, could not hear anything but ringing for two days. SUPERB !

  • filmed at Flanagans I believe...fucking people were loaded man...

  • This was recorded for a British show hosted by Chris Tarrant. They fixed up the set to look like a pub.

  • They Would Vote No To The EU-Superstate

Philtastik Band. A real hot Animal Maschine...

  • thats what its all about..

the kids have never lived, the first one to bring it back will be rich. its in your blood.

  • Excellent video only wish i was at that pub on that night , thanks for the great music Phil.

  • man that would have been a fuckin isane night down at the pub

  • what ya talkin bout emotionalinvalid? at least lizzy tried new things without alienating their fanbase unlike certain other bands

  • Only thing lame is you comment emotional guy!

  • @emotionalinvalid they had some good tunes wtf are you on about?this is a real rock n roll band not some made up record company scam, and whats this "the guitar solo is all flash in the pan,no soul, blues orsweat and tears in it"you must be listening to something else, and lame you reckon, how do you work that out?your user name sums you up EMOTIONAL INVALID you are a massive fuckwit

  • The quastion is who hasn't shagged Tawny Katean. That slut was with OJ Simpson. Then she got arrested for beating on her Pro Baseball player husband. What a pyshco slut

  • What a great solo from the master

  • Great solo? Master? Sounds to me like John was just doing exercises on the guitar. And the finger tapping thing is an attempt to jump on the Van Halen bandwagon. And listen to the notes he's playing, then listen to Deep Purple's "Burn". Tell me if you don't hear the similarity. Not remarkably original.

  • yes it is a great solo and no it's nothing like burn and john sykes is amazing player try listening to some whitesnake he did.and remember this was done in a pub with no special gear.

do you actually play guitar souped???

  • I'm talking about the finger tapping part- listen to the notes he's playing, then listen to the part in Burn where Blackmoore and John Lord are playing a unison passage after the guitar solo. Very similar, whether you are willing to believe it or not. And yes I do play guitar. You wouldn't like my style though- not as fast as Sykes purposely.

  • The tapping part yes your right it does sound similar to burn i had a listen.Listen to john sykes play the crying in the rain solo from the 1987 whitesnake album

i pretty much like most styles of guitar playing so i might like your style.

  • @soupedguit369 - nerd!

  • Comment removed

  • at around 1:45 does he play with the flat side of his pick?

  • I wish I was there.

  • I think shagging the lead singers girlfriend accounts for his sacking lol,who wouldnt shag tawny kitean lol, sorry dave

  • THIS VIDEO KICKS ASS!!!

  • This is actually from a British TV show fronted by Chris Tarrant. (Who is a bit of a rocker himself) He regularly had the likes of Phil and Rick Parfitt on his various shows in the late seventies and eighties.

  • I think it was called "Saturday Stay-back" which was like a late night Tiswas !!! The Pub was the Dog on the Hagley Road Birmingham!!

  • I've said this ad nauseum, and I live by it. As a person of Irish descent, I do declare that Thin Lizzy is the greatest band to ever come from the Emerald Isle. And yes, I have heard of U2.

  • I second that fiveortenbren

  • Is that John Sykes on lead

  • Yes sir it is indeed, shortly before he wrote that ENTIRE REALLY BIG WHITESNAKE album that they talk about on VH1 all the time, and then they fired him.

  • Who fired him , Thin Lizzy?

  • naw, the band fell apart due to phil and scott's heroin addiction which had gone out of hand.

  • top quote m8 !

  • @fiveortenbren oh man they shit on u2,thin lizzy were real hard dirty rock n rollers not like the commercial pap that most others do,these guys lived and breathed rock n roll and it shows

  • @fiveortenbren Sorry Mate! There's a lad named Rory that trumps just about everything from Eire since St Patrick and his pals on harp.... and they were angels.

  • Ugh Jesus the thought of Lizzy being compared to U2 makes me feel uneasy, Bono is an embarrassment and Edge is a rubbish guitarist compared to the likes of Eric Bell or Gary Moore, in fact he's rubbish even compared to me in my room.

Bono's voice has far less character than Lynott's and his songwriting is a farcry from Phil's prowess.

U2 don't even pay taxes to the Irish government so in my eyes they're just deserting wankers and can all go get fucked

  • @Kydos37 I'm 24, from Ireland, an I STILL don't know what the fuck wanker means!

  • @fiveortenbren but he was born in west brom england which makes hem english you stupid irish prick

  • @outtacastatv And I was born in America which makes me American. So fix your English grammar you illiterate cunt. Internet tough guy huh? Mommy let you use the computer? Do society a favor and fall on a knife.

  • @fiveortenbren fuck u cunt or i'll fuck ur dad up the ass whilst ur mom cooks me diner

  • @outtacastatv you've got serious issues. Get counseling. You gonna be the next one who shoots up a university? Don't have the balls to show your face in your videos, do you? Get a fucking life. Over and out.

  • @fiveortenbren listen fat man fuck off or i'll fuck you up the arse with ur dads cock whilst ur mom fingers her dead old pussy

  • @outtacastatv You fuck off. Can't finish what you start tough man? You gonna track me down?

  • @fiveortenbren Not The Golden Horde?? LOL!! Lizzy MUCH better than 'first album' U2 and that's 100 times better than current U2.

  • @fiveortenbren but have u heard of rory gallagher?

  • @fiveortenbren Actually they might actually be the greatest rock band ever.

  • @fiveortenbren phil was from england you stupid prick

  • Still in Love with You.... Eternally Out Here!!! R.I.P. The Wild One xxxx

  • isnt that the bridge house pub in london where iron maiden were disovered and rory gallagher used to play at times?? could be wrong!! excellent find thanks!!!
