I do not understand why no one seems to have a good word to say about this film. I thought it was amazing. The director did a very good job. The actors who played the Pevensie children were as brilliant as they were in the first and Ben Barnes made the film brilliant. So if you dont like the film its pointless slagging it off it wont change anything.
I thought Prince Caspian was a great movie! It really showed all the transitions in characters and also some of the flaws that make the movie seem more real (because Narnia isn't very realistic). Who cares if it isn't just like the book,..The books were written in 1948 and around that, so they were A BIT boring. I love all the movies. Actually, I think the Voyage of the Dawn Treader was the best, it's kind of a mix of the first two! Maybe I'm just biased because I love Skandar Keynes <3
I agree with you on this movie not living up to the first one. I like the actors with the exception of Ben Barnes but it just seems wrong, i dont know how to explain it
they made an action movie out of a very simple book?!?!?!?!?. they nailed the LWW but i hate this one. the voyage of the dawn treader is my favorite book of all time and im REALLY hoping they dont mess it up
i think they should have done some flashbacks of prince caspians like it is in the book and the parts they cut out of the movie should have stayed in there and the whole caspian and susan thing was irrelevent
OMG this is so funnyyyy i couldn't stop laughing. as if the farting part wasn't funny enough, the voices towards the end made me laugh even harder. LOL!!
The movie didn't bring out the meaning of the book as the first one did. Don't ask me what it is, because I don't know, I just feel that it didn't. The reason this movie disappointed me was that it wasn't made as movie about Narnia the way C.S. Lewis wrote it. It was rather made as a typical sequel and twisted around to please the audience.
i think the meaning of PRINCE CASPIAN, is faith & trust, lucy has faith in ASLAN, but even though the others do not, she maintains her trust in him, & it turns out a good thing that she does, i also think they needed to make this movie different from the book, the book ''prince caspian'', is a little boring because it is meant to link to the VOYAGE OF THE DAWN TREADOR, and the producers felt they couldnt make VODT, without introducing the character prince C first! they just made it more epic :)
The movie actually is pretty close to the book except for a few minor details (like the sword dueling ring was made) and the attack on the castle. Besides the Castle scene (which was pretty cool) the movie was nearly spot on, very well done compared to other movies. Granted, if you compare any book-based movie to Eragon, its gonna blow it away (they screwed it up so bad)
I don't know why critics think the movie is bad, maybe they expected to see the exact same thing from the book. But when you watch movies based on books you cannot at all expect it to be exactly like the book, it would be BORING. Just watch the movie as it is. :)
I actually liked the movie, I thought the additional scenes which were not in the book made the movie more exciting. This movie was less magical than the first one, but still entertaining and enchanting anyway. Amazing soundtrack too.
@kimmepot08 I know! And I think they followed the book really good. Of course they are going to embellish a bit but.. it followed the book pretty close in my opinion.
i thought the movie was great, but that's also probably because i'm partial to the actors, whom i like a lot, and i also watched the movie before i read the book
but both are great, although VERY different...i can only hope andrew adamson more accurately portrays C.S. Lewis' version of the voyage of the dawn treader
I think the movie was nice and well done. But it didn't really reflected to what the book's aim. But i think it doesn't mean that when you make a movie from a book or based on a book it doesn't mean you need to copy everything. In that case the director would be playing safe. He also needs to put something from his own yo the movie. It wasn't dissapointing its just that it doesn't live up with the reader's expectations.

I think Adamson did a great job on both films and it's unfortunate that Disney pulled-out from the latest one, so even though Adamson's not to Direct it, guess whose still paying for it to be made? That's right Adamson. You may be a filmmaker, but lemme say this, you're not where Adamson is and have probably never been put into such a position to please millions of fans, so although the films would have been different by another director they may not have been better, Adamson had a good vision.
I think you're just way too judgemental. I read the book several times and I thought they did very well. They added a lot more extra stuff to the first movie than they did for this one. I think you just enjoy complaining.
I havnt even read the book so perhaps im being judgemental too when i say i agree with you xD What i mean is, like YHSchoir09 says, the books weren't meant for scripts. If there is more fighting portrayed than magic, that was probably to emphasise the fact that narnia is 'a more darker and sinister place than you remember'. And Aslan WAS in control even if its not as obvious as it is in the book, it's just that only Lucy believes it. There is certainly issues of faith in the movie too.
I found that the movie definitely lived up to the book. Adamson explained that the reason for deviating from the book in certain areas was necessary. These books were not intended to be written into scripts. The movie was not about "stupid swords & Sorcery". Swords = Battle, and there wasn't Sorcery. If there was, gladly point it out to me. I would love to see where that is.
And next time, it might help to say who wrote those reviews.
The movie was the best! Stop uploading the trailer if you hate it so much! Everyone is not thinking like you. If you don't like the movie, then don't watch it! Or do you have this thing that you have to be mean to everything you don't like? Those who likes the movie can watch it, and those who don't can then read the books or whatever. And that last bit, is that supposed to be funny ? :o
I was so bored with the second movie that I had to leave the room. I really enjoyed seeing the kids again, but I had to sit through 15 minutes of some stupid Prince Caspian getting chased on a horse. I enjoyed seeing the kids, than I had to sit through more of that stupid Narnian's and Prince Caspian and evil uncle crap. I had to turn it off at the part where Edmund is fighting that dwarf on the bridge. It was just too stupid. Should I give it another chance? I hear it's really good.
Actually Prince Caspian did follow the book really closely, at some parts it was just restructred. And the night raid was only semi-not in the book. Before the Pevensies came in the book, the Narnians had a huge battle that they all hung their hopes on. And it failed.
Also I'm glad they moved the Miraz stuff into the main plot because it allows us to see what was going on with him.
I really enjoyed Prince Caspian (even more than the first Narnia movie, cause Ben Barnes is awesome). I couldn't help laughing at your interesting editing at the end though.
no offense, but how can it be better than the book? its based off the book... so theres either its just as good as the book, almost as good as the book, or nothing like the book. now if the book was based off a movie like mr magoriums wonder emporium, then that would work...
The bbvook was mostly just remembering what happened in the beginning, 19 pages of battles, but like 30 pages of reading about Susan and Lucy dancing. But I'm a battle man, so I guess you shouldn't take my word for it.
yeah i understand! i like battles a lot too, but i dont think that movies can ever be as good as the books, and C.S. Lewis wrote mostly for kids and im not claiming to know what he was thinking as he wrote them, but i dont think he wanted to focus on the battles.
I don't think the film was that great. Its along the lines of the H Potter films - they're good enough, but not great. I can see why they added to things, as the novel is particularly slim!
If you look at the plot like this:
-Caspian escapes fron his uncle,
-The Pevensies are brought in and travel through some woods to meet him,
-The find Aslan's How
-Miraz arrives and Peter fights him.
If you wrote the film with just these main sections, you'd have a film of 1 hour in legth at the most.
But true, the raid was pointless! Whethr we would have felt the same if C S Lewis had wrote that in in the first place, I don't know! Plus, the director did say there is a line referencing an off-screen battle somewhere in the book, so its not entirely possible.
I'd would have prefered more acton during their wonderings in the woods if they must add stuff.
I gues they'll make more of the Sea Monster in Voyager to make it more exciting. Silver Chair is my fav, more interesting!
It's not true. A movie CAN be better than a book: for instance Shining, A Clockwork Orange, Gone with the wind...Not every book is a masterpiece, and a talented film maker can make a good movie out of a bad book.
Now, Prince Caspian is definitely a good movie (thanks primarily to the Italian actors ^^), but I haven't read the book, so I can't compare them. Lot of people say the movie is better, though...
yeah, im just a freak for C.S. Lewis. My favorite author ever! He wrote very good books! I see what your saying, I just think that if it's better than the book, then it has it's own story added to it. I haven't seen or read any of the books and movies you've talked about...
amen. a lot of movies kick their book's butt. like lotr, for example. the books are kind of slow, i think, but the movies keep you literally on the edge of you chair, and i think these movies are better, though i totally love the books too.
If you watch an interview with Anna Popplewell and Skandar Keynes, she states that "The book is basically just walking and talking, and that wouldn't do so well on screen. It would make it completely unbearable and boring to watch people watch people sit around for 2 hours." Adding these scenes gives the book flavor and spice. If you want to watch people walk and talk for 2 hours, then send a letter to the new director of Narnia.
no offense to C.S Lewis or anything but i liked the movie better than the book, it definitley didn't come out as i expected it i expected it to be like the book just like the first one but the movie was still good! it was funny. because they changed it(the movie) you didn't even know what was coming even if you read the book. :) loved the movie and the book
Whoever made the fragrance bit has got the definition completely wrong. the gas exchange refers to the lungs (the circulatory system). You can't fart with your lungs.
Anyway, it refers to creatures that have it; it's not a verb. Fish and other aquatic creatures have this cavity too.
you have to admit, the second book is not quite as magical as the first book, so why is it surprising everyone that the movie didnt live up to their expectations?
the first version of the movie, the BBC version, had to be combined with Voyage of the Dawn Treader because the makers believed Prince Caspian didnt have enough storyline to it.
I AM NOT PERSONALLY DISSING THE MOVIE!
i LOVE prince caspian and i actually like it better than the first movie!! :D
Um, if you dislike this AMAZINGLY good movie so much, why are you "promoting" it with this trailer?? Well, that's basically what you're doing. Not everyone reads the "More Info" section, you know, and they may miss your opinions entirely. Just sayin. P.S. Your sped up version was REALLY annoying. Nice job. :/
although i aggree the film was a dissapointmnt to the book and most bits of the film werent even in the book or werent even simalar, especially the castle assauault (in the book it does mention small raids on human settlements)
I LOVED the movie! I thought that it was okay that they didn't really stick to the book so much. I've practically memorized the book, and I didn't want to go see the movie and know exactly what they were going to say and what was going to happen. They made the film more exciting and suspenseful.
Also, it's funny how people are saying they shouldn't have been trying to bring the spiritual aspects out into the movie, when C.S. Lewis based a lot of it on spiritual facts. You can't just take those out of the books/movies.
I think any TRUE Narnia fan would appreciate the effort on the part of Adamson, Gresham, and his team of filmmakers for trying to preserve the spirit of the book. If you don't believe me, buy the Official Illustrated MOvie Companion. It explains why changes were made and once you read it, you will understand better the changes in the film.
Maybe the film went over your head. Adamson was trying to reach to a new audience, one that didn't read the book.
I liked Prince Caspian. I thought Andrew Adamson did a good job considering he was a returning director and had to come up with new fresh ideas. I also really liked the actors :)
This video is hella funny! haha "I am prince caspian" thats my favorite part! hahahahahhahaha!
Hi - Can you please help me.....i only recently watched the 1st chronicles of narnia movie and was wondering..... if Aslan is the king of narnia then who is King Miraz (in the 2nd movie)the king of? plz help me x
"That's enough, Lucy!" LOOOOL it's SOO funny! XD OMG: Lucy's face on 4:35, given the context is AMAZING!!! My congratulations, it's the funniest video I've watched in a long time! :D
This movie was a lot better than the first one... i really liked it.
You have your own opinion and all, but still, you shouldn't have, even for a moment, thought that the movie would be anything like the books. If you ever watch a movie and plan on actually seeing the book, then you'll be seriously disappointed.
XD I loved the scenes of 'gastrovascular!' I'm still laughing! XD
PS: I don't agre with you when you say the movie did not follow the book. if you pay attention, the book has more battle than the movie. and it is just an adaptation, it doens't have to have all scenes of the book.
and by the way, this movie is really really good! I feel sorry for you.
PS: the 'For Narnia' of Peter was really hilarious!!!XD

skandar keynes is really hot in this movie :)
edmundshawttt 3 years ago 2
Much better than the book. Sorry C.S. Lewis, but there was way more charater development and battles and I liked that. Books are still good though.
balrog13571 3 years ago
no offense, but how can it be better than the book? its based off the book... so theres either its just as good as the book, almost as good as the book, or nothing like the book. now if the book was based off a movie like mr magoriums wonder emporium, then that would work...
bekahbooguess 3 years ago
The bbvook was mostly just remembering what happened in the beginning, 19 pages of battles, but like 30 pages of reading about Susan and Lucy dancing. But I'm a battle man, so I guess you shouldn't take my word for it.
balrog13571 3 years ago
yeah i understand! i like battles a lot too, but i dont think that movies can ever be as good as the books, and C.S. Lewis wrote mostly for kids and im not claiming to know what he was thinking as he wrote them, but i dont think he wanted to focus on the battles.
bekahbooguess 3 years ago
I guess, but reading about them dancing for that long, it's like they don't even care people or creatures or whatever are dying lol.
balrog13571 3 years ago
I don't think the film was that great. Its along the lines of the H Potter films - they're good enough, but not great. I can see why they added to things, as the novel is particularly slim!
If you look at the plot like this:
-Caspian escapes fron his uncle,
-The Pevensies are brought in and travel through some woods to meet him,
-The find Aslan's How
-Miraz arrives and Peter fights him.
If you wrote the film with just these main sections, you'd have a film of 1 hour in legth at the most.

Continued...
Silver Chair is my fav, more interesting!
pipkin3 3 years ago
It's not true. A movie CAN be better than a book: for instance Shining, A Clockwork Orange, Gone with the wind...Not every book is a masterpiece, and a talented film maker can make a good movie out of a bad book.
Now, Prince Caspian is definitely a good movie (thanks primarily to the Italian actors ^^), but I haven't read the book, so I can't compare them. Lot of people say the movie is better, though...
Niniane17 3 years ago 4
yeah, im just a freak for C.S. Lewis. My favorite author ever! He wrote very good books! I see what your saying, I just think that if it's better than the book, then it has it's own story added to it. I haven't seen or read any of the books and movies you've talked about...
bekahbooguess 3 years ago
amen. a lot of movies kick their book's butt. like lotr, for example. the books are kind of slow, i think, but the movies keep you literally on the edge of you chair, and i think these movies are better, though i totally love the books too.
pagekeeper4 3 years ago 3
i think it was ruined when susan kissed caspian!
i almost had a heart attack from that!
probably not what CS Lewis would want!
bekahbooguess 3 years ago
I COMPLETELY agree!! When I saw that in the movie I just wanted to scream at the film directors!

i know! the first thing i though was that caspian's getting married int 3 years... to someone else!

Seen this movie three times in the theater. Can't wait for it to come out on DVD on December 2. Ben Barnes is incredibly hott!!

If they wanted to make more money, they should've tried releasing it sometime besides when Indiana Jones came out.
pianoplayer888 3 years ago
If you watch an interview with Anna Popplewell and Skandar Keynes, she states that "The book is basically just walking and talking, and that wouldn't do so well on screen. It would make it completely unbearable and boring to watch people watch people sit around for 2 hours." Adding these scenes gives the book flavor and spice. If you want to watch people walk and talk for 2 hours, then send a letter to the new director of Narnia.
I loved this movie, better then the first.
Love your extra clips!

This movie was not at all dissapointing!
It lived up to standard, but in movie form! Of course many things had to be changed to make it watchable!
It was a terrific movie that many people enjoyed!

no offense to C.S Lewis or anything but i liked the movie better than the book, it definitley didn't come out as i expected it i expected it to be like the book just like the first one but the movie was still good! it was funny. because they changed it(the movie) you didn't even know what was coming even if you read the book. :) loved the movie and the book

WHAT were you talking about? The second film was amazing and i think they did a great job! I love Narnia!
lseverein 3 years ago 6
Whoever made the fragrance bit has got the definition completely wrong. the gas exchange refers to the lungs (the circulatory system). You can't fart with your lungs.
Anyway, it refers to creatures that have it; it's not a verb. Fish and other aquatic creatures have this cavity too.

I laughed until I cried over the "Fragrance of Narnia" bit. "You've been sneaking second helpings!!!"

you have to admit, the second book is not quite as magical as the first book, so why is it surprising everyone that the movie didnt live up to their expectations?
the first version of the movie, the BBC version, had to be combined with Voyage of the Dawn Treader because the makers believed Prince Caspian didnt have enough storyline to it.

Nice job. :/

I absolutely loved it, and I think it stuck to the books as much as you can expect.

I personally loved the movie, so I think your reviews SUCKED.

GET OVER IT!

I liked Prince Caspian. I thought Andrew Adamson did a good job considering he was a returning director and had to come up with new fresh ideas. I also really liked the actors :)
This video is hella funny! haha "I am prince caspian" thats my favorite part! hahahahahhahaha!

I think the film is more like the book than most other book-film movies. However it isn't as good as the book-but it is an excellent movie.

fsatforward part was funny =)
and i liked the movie while watching it with no interest in religious intentions.
especially because how the last seen had the call-regina spektor playing which was so appopriate.
however the director soldout to what people want by making susan and caspian kiss
