The wood I'm planing at the beginning of this video is catalpa, which clearly planes quite nicely, however, care is needed around the knots. "..planing the ghost of the wood." An interestingly poetic comment! Perhaps though, the wood is more like the skeleton of the tree; but if we infuse it with our own spirit through our work, some sort of life is rekindled in the wood. Does that make it ghostly?

What is that huge plank he's planing at the beginning? It looks so weird; its like he's planing the ghost of a piece of wood.
