@maverickdallas100 Hah. I don't a Venus Fly Trap can trap ants because their pincers are made to cut through plant leaves. Flies don't have these and remain trapped inside as digestive juices dissolve them. BTW, it's less likely for an ant to trigger the traps because they're smaller. There are three small hairs on each half of the trap. The insect has to bump into two hairs to make the trap close.
@HipHopgirl068 4GB Samsung SDHC memory card with Class 6 speed... PLEASE DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID!!!... You have to buy at least a Class 6 speed SDHC card or there's a BIG chance that the memeory card won't work
@aplussstudent3 yeah; I had the same brilliant idea; but it turns out it only converts the video into 30 fps as a maximum; which is not too bad except for there is only an option to record in 60 fps @HD natively... pointless if you plan on converting to be able to edit; at least if you plan to convert using intelli studio.
@getookdotcom Heh ... like all living things, each trap gets slower and eventually dies as they age. What happened here was that the ant was small enough to avoid touching the trigger hairs that would close the trap. Each half of the trap has 3 hairs in the middle. If the insect touches any two hairs within a short span of time, the trap would close. It didn't. But even if the trap closed, thr ant would probably destroy the trap because most ants have pincers for cutting leaves.
hey i just got this camera and im wanting to film some skating i tired it out in full hd 1080i looked great but i when i tryed uploading youtube it would be really bad but 720/60 works fine but i would love to film in full hd?? any tips , btw i used vegas 9 to edit witch can edit full hd so im wondering whats up?
Youtube does mp4 it should be no problem uploading .mp4 straight from any camcorder to youtube, but not the case with samsung hmx, it distort the video. So i have to find other means to upload correctly, handbrake allow me to do that but their conversion to .mkv left me without sound, but produced outstanding image quality. I'm still looking for the perfect solition without shelling out money....
Ok in HandBrake, choose you .MP4 file (samsung hmx export to this file by default) and then under "preset" under "high profile" choose "constant quality rate" after all these, the format will automatically display "MKV File" leave it be and just click "Start"
I'm looking into buying this same camcorder, but I want to know if I have to use the software it comes with, or can I just upload the videos to my mac via USB and use the editing software I already have.
well without using the software it comes with, on this video I used Handbrake with "constant quality rate" option selected to make the video .MKV so youtube will upload it as HD. The result is I lost the audio.
What editing software did you already have?
To get the audio back, I had to use "Divx Converter" it costs $20 but, you have to use the built-in software from the camcorder to export video file to .WMV first then you can divx convert .WMV to DIVX and upload to youtube in HD with audio
So that's why I was wondering if I have to use the software (which I've already been told only works on Windows) or if I can just transfer the video off of the camcorder to my iMac and then just edit it on my own from there.
Yes you can import the video straight into iMovie and edit it there. If your system is up to date and running 10.6 there are some improvements in uploading to youtube. Output as HD and you're set. Another way to get video from the camcorder is to drag it from the Samsung disc to your movies folder (or whatever folder you want) then drag your clips into iMovie. You don't need the included software if you have a mac, you've already got all you need, and it came with your computer...
Unfortunately 1080i doesn't work very well at the moment. I returned mine and the second set has the same problem. It isn't a problem with the capture, it is a corruption of the data while transfering the files off the camera. Hopefully a firmware update will address this.
those are some big traps

if you convert the footage, can you edit it in Sony Vegas?
aplussstudent3 2 years ago
@aplussstudent3
Its better to input a RAW file to sony vegas, and then edit it, because its simpler, and you don't loose that much quality :)
But if you want, you can input converted footage too :D
jakingofw 2 years ago
@aplussstudent3 How do you convert the footage im really stressed out please help
nollieheelydg2 1 year ago
@nollieheelydg2 in intelli studio, the software that comes preinstalled on the camcorder. It installs on your computer when you plug it in.
its a pain, but it works ;)

Did you have to convert the video to get it into the editor? (If you did).
Because on my camera, and if I import it into any video editor software, it's all "lagging". And when I convert it, it looses it quality.
MusicF4 2 years ago
hmm I never had that kind of issue... by default the camcorder export .MP4, I then use "HandBrake" to convert to .MKV and upload.
getookdotcom 2 years ago
Ok, thank you for answer :)
But I got some other questions to:
1. Below you said the sound didn't convert well? Why?
2. Doesn't YouTube support .mp4 uploads?

I have a iMac HD and it came with iMovie.

I actually have never tried the 1080 option on the camcorder... I know youtube only take 720 So I didn't even bother to use the 1080 setting.
