@BuffersYeoman Oh I forgot to answer you question. Heeresmusikkorps 11, stationed in Bremen Grohn, Germany - 1986 until 1993 when it was disbanded due to the reforms of the German Army
@TheDrummerboi94 Maybe its the recording but YOU tell me where the pipes even can be heard at 1:20 or at 2:30. I love how the brass and the flutes "echo" the main theme and play with it at 1:52 - if they could just be a bit more subtle in other parts.
I have viewed nearly all vids on YouTube featuring this fine ensemble and if there is one quality that is expressed in each of them is this band's consistency in performance, timbre, pride, and professionalism. I have yet to see a "bad" performance..
I suppose that at this caliber of musicianship failure is not an option.
I've never heard this work and it's a fantastic synthesis of the solo pipe and winds. This gives me chills.
Okay what are you now saying? do you like it or do you dislike it? The Royal Marine bands are without question the best in the world??? I read and play music, these days it is a Technics home organ, I have an excellent ear., but I would never criticise professional musicians and I certainly would not criticised such on a worldwide platform.
ceemosp.......... If you cannot give someone or some thing praise then don't give any. What military band have you or do you play in???????????? now let me guess? I have in my time marched behind a few of these, have you? BY RN
@BuffersYeoman have you actually learned to read or are you just blowing your patriotic whistle here?
I commented on the arrangement which is a personal opinion I am entitled to, don't you think?
Maybe you should have read a bit more thorougly to discover that I actually praised the band for its performance but disliked (and still do) this particular arrangement.
Good performance but I don't like this arrangement at all. The band (brass and especially the cymbals) hammering the pipes into the background. This piece was written for the pipes and they should carry the music not the brass. Apart from that, an immaculate performance (as always) by this brilliant band.
@siddywinkles42 thia iant a bad taste in music, if its what you enjoy then people should apreciate it! i get the same at my school, but i like it so i dont see a problem
A certainly inspiring piece of music played by one of UK's finest bands, The Band Of Her Majesties Royal Marines. I used to live at Eastney, Portsmouth with out back yard on the fence at the Eastney Barracks and we would here the RM Band every Saturday.
The absoulte best in the world, then again I am baised, my dad was a Royal Marine bandsman for 26 years, so beautiful so skill... no wonder he was so proud in saying so
Im guessing by the comment that you have just made you are not truely British, and what i mean by that statement is that our country is falling to bits and this is one thing that we can hold together
I saw the Royal Marines The Gurkers and the scots guards bands play this together at Chatham navy Days a view years ago and its great to see it played again
hey fatscumfilth keep your comments to yourself if you havent anything kind to say dont say it at all. North Ireland doesnt exactly have a huge population they do what they can so suck it up and enjoy the peace.

@ceemosp If you have a musicians ear you'll actually hear that the brass and pipes harmonise and compliment eachother beautifully
