  • @BuffersYeoman Oh I forgot to answer you question. Heeresmusikkorps 11, stationed in Bremen Grohn, Germany - 1986 until 1993 when it was disbanded due to the reforms of the German Army

  • @TheDrummerboi94 Maybe its the recording but YOU tell me where the pipes even can be heard at 1:20 or at 2:30. I love how the brass and the flutes "echo" the main theme and play with it at 1:52 - if they could just be a bit more subtle in other parts.

  • I have viewed nearly all vids on YouTube featuring this fine ensemble and if there is one quality that is expressed in each of them is this band's consistency in performance, timbre, pride, and professionalism. I have yet to see a "bad" performance..

I suppose that at this caliber of musicianship failure is not an option.

I've never heard this work and it's a fantastic synthesis of the solo pipe and winds. This gives me chills.

    HMRM, you have unwavering respect!

    God bless you!

  • Okay what are you now saying? do you like it or do you dislike it? The Royal Marine bands are without question the best in the world??? I read and play music, these days it is a Technics home organ, I have an excellent ear., but I would never criticise professional musicians and I certainly would not criticised such on a worldwide platform.

  • ceemosp.......... If you cannot give someone or some thing praise then don't give any. What military band have you or do you play in???????????? now let me guess? I have in my time marched behind a few of these, have you? BY RN

  • @BuffersYeoman have you actually learned to read or are you just blowing your patriotic whistle here?

I commented on the arrangement which is a personal opinion I am entitled to, don't you think?

Maybe you should have read a bit more thorougly to discover that I actually praised the band for its performance but disliked (and still do) this particular arrangement.

    @TheDrummerboi94

Let me see, nope, after 44 years of making music myself I must have gone deaf :p

  • Royal marine bands kick ass !!!!!

  • Good performance but I don't like this arrangement at all. The band (brass and especially the cymbals) hammering the pipes into the background. This piece was written for the pipes and they should carry the music not the brass. Apart from that, an immaculate performance (as always) by this brilliant band.

  • @ceemosp If you have a musicians ear you'll actually hear that the brass and pipes harmonise and compliment eachother beautifully

  • Best band in the world is the Royal Marines.

  • @siddywinkles42 thia iant a bad taste in music, if its what you enjoy then people should apreciate it! i get the same at my school, but i like it so i dont see a problem

  • Thank you. It brought tears to my eyes as my dad loved this tune, and also the Royal Marines band.. So the two combined made it even more special

  • I agree with you scottygorton - the march off in time is fantastic and as far as I'm concerned the best part of it all.....could watch it all day!

  • A really good performance, this seems to be one of the only things that the british can hold there heads hight about, its a sad truth really

  • what the hell do you mean by this? and it's 'their' by the way.

  • Im guessing by the comment that you have just made you are not truely British, and what i mean by that statement is that our country is falling to bits and this is one thing that we can hold together

  • Just smashing!! Thats the style!!!!!!

  • breathtaking is an understatement! omfg what a fucking wonderfull performance. pure skill and what a wonderfull tune.

  • Nothing less then breathtaking. absolutly fantastic!

  • excellent!! Nothing else will explain it better!

  • As this country slowly falls apart, how gratifying to see that there is still at least one thing we can do to the highest possible standard.

  • Here, here. Not only the country, but the entire world. But we still have music.

  • LEST WE FORGET!

  • just superb video just superb
