For whatevr reason this compilation of Lita is one of my favs, but for those that like her .. just some backstory on Close My Eyes, Ozzy was gonna have a studio musician and his wife (Sharon goes no Lita) and thus a classic was born .. from what I read he then had her but wasnt gonna let her play and again Sharon said let Lita shoot it separately and play it .. .. Sharon Ozzbourne rocks heh! for letting us get a good song.

@1R0NM41DN Even though they are a true prog (non-hair metal) band Rush embraced grunge. You can hear traces of it in their 90's albums. One of Pearl Jam's biggest influences was the Who. Most hair bands worship the Who. Dave Grohl & the Foo Fighters cite Queen as a major influence. Queen's also beloved by most hair bands. BTW did you know that David Coverdale, Joe Elliott & Dave Grohl (though taken at different times) all appeared together on the same cover to an ish of Classic Rock Magazine?

Guess you forgot that early AIC was true metal.

While Cobain & his contemporaries (as in grunge band singers) were getting high most of their bandmates stayed sober. I'm not defending Cobain for hating metal but it pisses me off when ppl say "oh he & his band fucked up rock." If you want to blame someone then go after the record companies & radio stations for giving up on the artists of hair metal & not giving them enough spins.
...And one more thing then I'm finished. Blame Billboard & Rolling Stone for lack of promotion & panning the albums from hair metal acts that came out during the grunge era. Leave grunge alone. For whatevr reason this compilation of Lita is one of my favs, but for those that like her .. just some backstory on Close My Eyes, Ozzy was gonna have a studio musician and his wife (Sharon goes no Lita) and thus a classic was born .. from what I read he then had her but wasnt gonna let her play and again Sharon said let Lita shoot it separately and play it .. .. Sharon Ozzbourne rocks heh! for letting us get a good song.

So to make a long story short, as rock & rollers, let's stick together & fight the real problem, as in today's shit many like to call "music." Stop pointing the fingers at something that happened nearly 20 yrs ago w/another rock act of another subgenre, namely grunge. What's the point? I'll say it over & over again...rock is rock & most (not all) of the rock from today is so watered down it ain't even funny. I think that's something we can all agree upon. OK I'm finished now!

@bucky468 Grunge sucks ass =P They ushered out the hair bands and the rest of 80's heavy metal they are what replaced that genre, you cannot deny it =P (not to mention Grunge KILLED the guitar solo which is integral to most songs in 80's metal)... I agree Grunge isn't the sole evil behind the downfall of the 80's but it started with them and it spiraled from there and here we are today... the 80's were the peak of music and then the 90's went to shit and it just kept heading in that direction

There were guitar solos in grunge, too. Pearl Jam & Alice In Chains had some awesome g solos in their songs. You must be too ignorant to realize that. Geoff Tate of Queensryche said he could never say anything negative about another Seattle rock band even if they were different. Ian Astbury of the Cult didn't mind grunge. Sammy Hagar on Rockline once told his fellow hair metal brethreen to grow up & stop complaining about grunge. Ted Nugent although he hated Nirvana said "what can you do about it?"

And while you're at it watch old tapes from VH1 on every hair metal retrospective/documentary. Vince Neil, Jani Lane & Tracii Guns all bitched about grunge but that doesn't mean everyone else DID. Slash never did despite the fact that he was pissed at Cobain for dissing GN'R. I don't recall AC/DC dissing grunge either.

@1R0NM41DN Even though they are a true prog (non-hair metal) band Rush embraced grunge. You can hear traces of it in their 90's albums. One of Pearl Jam's biggest influences was the Who. Most hair bands worship the Who. Dave Grohl & the Foo Fighters cite Queen as a major influence. Queen's also beloved by most hair bands. BTW did you know that David Coverdale, Joe Elliott & Dave Grohl (though taken at different times) all appeared together on the same cover to an ish of Classic Rock Magazine?

@1R0NM41DN You probably never even listened to Alice In Chains first 2 LP's "Facelift" (1990) & "Dirt" (1992). Some real heavy stuff on those albums. Almost as metal as Ozzy, Maiden or Sabbath. Guitar solos included too. But you wouldn't know that now would you? When AIC first came out they played a festival alongside Circus of Power, Savatage & Pantera in Columbus, OH. Guess you forgot that early AIC was true metal.

...And the reason I said don't blame grunge is b/c MTV & all the video networks were usually the first to expose new music even before the radio stations, at least where I'm from. Most of the video airplay was given to Madonna, Mariah, Celine, MJ, Bolton, Boyz II Men, Whitney & the entire rap world. Grunge DID have a hand when it came to AOR but it wasn't all that major. Have you ever heard Dave Grohl bad mouthing any hair metal acts? I never did. He's actually a fan of many of the good ones.

...So Cobain didn't care for hair metal? Well the dude had problems. But not all those grunge acts were like him. While Cobain & his contemporaries (as in grunge band singers) were getting high most of their bandmates stayed sober. I'm not defending Cobain for hating metal but it pisses me off when ppl say "oh he & his band fucked up rock." If you want to blame someone then go after the record companies & radio stations for giving up on the artists of hair metal & not giving them enough spins.

I like Vixen -- whose videos I've just been watching -- but this song is better than just about everything they did. Lita > Vixen. They all played their instruments, and that makes them immensely cool. And they were hot.
