I'm glad Whitehouse won, although I do beleive that Chafee is an independant thinker, an honest man and decent Senator. There seems to be little room in the Republican Party for reasonable moderates.

Lincoln Chafee is the best republican ever. I am not so fond of republicans as of recently, but if Lincoln Chafee were running in my area, I would vote for him. He is a perfect example of what the republican party should be like.

Hey karlcol, have you ever heard of Sheldon Whitehouse. Because if you think Chafee is too liberal, you're not going to like Whitehouse.

Well, not all Democrats are completely liberal, and not all Republicans completely conservative. He declined to vote for Bush in 04, plus was one of five senators to support gay marriage. He did put his money where his mouth is, but was beaten by a more liberal candidate in a heavily Democratic state. He seems like a very good person and someone who shares my ideals, so I'd be happy if he switched parties, to be honest.

Yeah, it's not fair. People like Harris or Santorum have an easier time, and Linc gets shafted by his own Party. If he stays in the GOP, he would be a good Republican on a Democratic Administration's cabinet...

Poor Lic, I really feel for the guy. Honestly, I think he is a good person. If he had been really smart though, he would have switched to the Democrats before the primaries. I am sure people will like Sen. Whitehouse too.
