@36567brad There are drag cars running less than 7 seconds, but there are a million 1/4 mile records, for different cars, different engines, displacements, modifications, classes, etc. Just like how burt munro holds a top speed record still today, that has stood for over over 20 years, even though there were faster vehicles then and now, his record was for a specific engine size, naturally aspirated.
