i was so glad when brumos finally won my cousin is a pit crew member for the 59 car he was the small bald dude lol but i was in the pits with him it was amazing
At this point you expect to see two car fighting for the position on the rectilinear, but there is no such thing, because Porche simply fly away and if the race has finished with a so small difference between them ,I suppose it's right because of the great job that Montoya has been able to do in the mixed part of the circuit.
All the great job Montoya made in the mixed it vanished in the rectilinear. He made a great jod getting very different trajectory in the mixed part , he is just in the back of the Porche.
You do know Lexus won the championship last season right and the past three Rolex 24 hours so how can you say the Lexus is a poor car? Donahue deserved to win that race with all the poor luck Brumos has had in past years. He is a great driver and he clearly beat Montoya. I'm not saying Montoya is a bad driver because he clearly is one of the best in sports car racing.
Just watch carefully how near is Montoya (because of driving ability) in the mixed part of the circuit and ,on the other side ,wacth how the Porche gain ground in the rectilinear part. The porche is clearly faster. Anyway a victory is always a great job by the team and by the driver and probably Porche team together with the driver made a better job about the set up of the car prefering an highest apex speed or probably they had just a more powerful engine.
For a team that has won 3 straight 24 Hours of Daytona, "poor lexus" is an understatement. The Lexus will still be a force in the championship because of the low end torque which will help at circuits with short straightaways and tight corners. Porsche had the legs to run down the straightaways at Daytona, but let's see how it fairs on the smaller circuits like New Jersey, Laguna beach, and Mid Ohio. Great to have Porsche back in contention for race victories.
My Meaning of Poor Lexus is not for overall, just in that race the lexus wasn't enough for the nice setup and performance of the porche. now the lexus was setup more for the slow section of the circuit than the straights and not even montoya could hold it for long time.

@KingSnowman That margin was measured down in Turn 1 and not at the actual start/finish line.

Greatest Rolex 24 in history, 4 cars within seconds of each other, all with a chance of victory.
The Rolex Sports Car Series is my guilty pleasure.
