Thank you so much for this amazing video, TilTuli.
I'm 22 years of age, and I was only around with the Amiga, but I used my mum's commodore 64 and Spectrum. It's amazing to see the first computer ever to be built. I wish I could purchase an Altair 8800 from eBay but it seems it's so rare no one is selling it. but I love working with old computers and this video explains everything. Thank you so much!

@Anox1e Hey there is something better. how about build your own from a kit? just like the old days! some chap has started to make and sell the kits again! Its the same exact achitechture, except of 1 or 2 types of chips-resistors that are a different type for more reliability. I don't have the site but look it up on google. It's almost better than buying a vintage one, why? because you build it yourself, just like the people back then!
Seattle Computer Products made Quick and dirty DOS(QDOS & 86-DOS). Microsoft just baught out all the rights and continued to develop it. And you kind of make it sound like Microsoft developed the 8800.
Also, the apple 1 wasnt a kit computer, but rather a home designed or "homebrew" computer made by wozniak, in fact his philosophy of a "prebuilt" computer is the idea that took off that started sparking the all in one "you pull it out of the box and plug it in like a boombox and it just works" type personal computers :p
All video clips which we did at the Computer History Museum (Mountain View California) are located at: tiltul{.}com/art/Education/Museums/ see (part 1 and part 2.
You should have focused more on recording the systems themselves, I couldn't even read the words. On a different note, there were alot of computers in there that I knew about! The Compaq Portable, the Osbourne, The Macintosh (obviously).
did aple start by elling kits to make computers? or was it.. kit they put together , which formed a computer, and they sold the computer?

I believe BASIC was first pioneered on the LGP-30 or from languages pioneered on it in Dartmouth. Ergo, Dartmouth BASIC.

basic operating system? don't you mean BASIC interpreter?

If it is the lowest level thing running on a computer that can otherwise do nothing at all, it counts as an OS.
