  • Thanks everyone for the compliments.

  • No I do not recommend the zalaman clip on Mic. Mics like that are open and will pick up all noise including the sound from your tv. That would be a little hard on the people you are playing with.

  • can you do this with a standard xbox live microphone????

  • Guys, an alternative mic is a turtlebeach replacement mic or just go on amazon and get a '3.5mm flexible mic' and a 3.5 to 2.5 cord if you are plugging into the controller or just a 3.5mm female to male extension if using amp.

  • Are there any alternatives to the labtec because it is not sold in the uk at all. Also is this a good clip on mic to use-Go to amazon uk type in mini compact 3.5mm and click on the bv and Jo mic. Would this fit into the xbox controller with an adapter?

  • i did this mic mod on my bayer dt990s, it works perfect!

  • Good thing you wore black gloves. You could have smudged something. Goddamn neckbeard.

  • Great video modding my a700's soon enough

  • Anyone know where to buy Ad700 Pads?

  • 30 Zip Ties??! Dang!

  • Wow... le me spending 2-3 weeks browsing for the perfect headset and there you have it: if it doesn't exist... make it yourself :D you should sell that sh**! Audiophile Wireless Gaming O.o AWG... new brand? hehe big time thumbs up!!! I mean "car modding" became quite popular in some public sectors... I wonder if "Gaming/OC Modding" will go beyond "modding Chassis"... this stuff looks pretty cool and opens a lot of possibilities :) cheers.

  • Rubbing alcohol is not recommended to use on the headphones. It has the potential to damage the drivers if it gets inside the headphones. If you're very careful it might turn out ok but you are using it at your own risk. I don't think cleaning the headphones before applying the adhesive makes a huge difference anyways.

  • How about a mute button... I'm interested on that.. I use a ps3 and i'm using my ps3 eye camera with my headphones so far seems more convenient no modding need it, but if i could add a mute button i will really like to do this mod..

  • @lancellor You could either buy a microphone with a mute button built into it, mod the microphone by adding a switch to it, or just unplug it from the Mixamp.

  • one of the most useful videos for me

    well done

  • Sounds like Seth Rogan likes to mod his audio equipment. Cool.

  • So this will work on xbox just the headset, no mixamp, also, can i hear people withought the mic, sp basicly can i hear people (not talk back) but stil play the game???

  • Yes I will. I will be showing how to do the re-wire as well soon. Thanks for the kind words.

  • well how do u hear anyone cuz if u have a mic pluged in on the 360 controller than the sound of the people talking will go to the speaker on the thats on the mic and not the speakers on the headset

  • @CLANnameWTF sorry clan i don't seem to understand your question fully, hopefully I get it right. All your sound will go to your headset as the mix-amp is designed to relay both voice and sound from in game through its internal mix amp. Hence that is why it is called Astro mix amp. The headset plugs into the wireless mix amp and the wireless mixamp to the controller. Sound is sent 7.1 from the wired amp connected to your 360,or PS3 to thre wireless controller and it sent to your headset.

  • what other mic could i get? that mic is far to expensive for what it is dude

  • @VoiD1x the mic is currently $17.99 with free shipping on Ebay

  • @VoiD1x

    Scumbag YouTuber:

    >Buys 110$ headphones

    >Whines about 20$ mic.

  • @silvervolt7 nah when i looked on ebay they where going for like $40 , and the only people selling them where from like the Middle east..

  • @VoiD1x Im not sure if you have gotten your mic yet,but zalaman clipon mic from amazon is dirt cheap. Only problem is you have tape it to the headset like in this vid.

  • $50 for the same labtec mic on amazon these days. Absolutely ridiculous.

  • can you turn the mic on and off?

  • @gsr1379 What most people do is map it so that you only talk when a mouse button is pressed.

  • i just sent you an email mate, can you show how you connected these to the mix amp please and if you can still balance voice and game chat? thank you

  • Thank you for this review I will most likely be doing this set up but im wondering instead of the astro mix amp if I can replace it with the turtle beach DSS, not sure if you know what it is but its essentially the same thing as the mix amp but its smaller, cheaper and I heard close to sound quality. I dont know much about technology I just want to know if it would serve the same purpose

  • @simonx348 It will serve its purpose as an amp. Your just looking for decent sound with decent sound stage and clarity. I wont say all amps are created equal because there not, but I'm also not going to bash turtle beach as I've had a few as well. always go with whats within your budget. At the end of the day you will enjoy the game and the sound will be to your liking. Have fun.

  • this is awesome! :)

  • Quantum I think u forgot to plug in the small wire to the controller. Try this and let me know.

  • I purchased the Labtec LVA-7330, wired Astro MixAmp, and Audio-Technica ATH-AD700. Everything works fine, except the mic. The mixAmp is registered, and it shows that I have a mic on my games, but it doesn't pick up my sound. And I know it works because I've used it on Skype. Does anyone know what to do to fix this?

  • I just got done doing this mod and my question is does the lav 7330 plug into your Xbox controller or through an amp? Sorry if its a dumb question.

  • Your very welcome glad I could help.

  • Hey, I'm probably doing this mod tomorrow or in the next couple of days. I looked around and saw people doing crazy rewirings, of which I would not be a fan of. My question to you mate is: with this simple mod, was the sound affected at all, as holes in the drivers have been blocked. I have been recommended to not do this mod for that reason... Also, is electrical tape necessary?

    Regards

    -Dylan

  • @DyLaNbOiiiiii78 Hey Dylan if you watch the video you will see that I mentioned not to cover the middle of the driver. Also look at the headphones them selves and you notice that Audio Technica themselves covered it with there gold logo plate. The plate they put on it does not have holes either so if you want you can mount it on the gold plate they have on the earphones and it would in no way make a difference from how they were intended to sound.

  • @DyLaNbOiiiiii78 Also look at the design they used. There are multiple holes and I could bust out some physics here but wont. Im pretty confident in the design and believe that the ten or fifteen pin size holes covered through this mod would be compensated by the other 60 holes in terms of the amount of air needed to produce the necessary effect audio techcnica intended..But once again if you still have that i dont know feeling just mount it on the gold plated logo audio technica provided..:)

  • @MrRaiomCurst Thanks a lot!

I've had to redo the velcro a few times because I simply didn't cut it well enough, and I didn't let it dry for long enough. I've redone the velcro on the headphones again after reading your comments, and I just put it over the logo as it was conveniently sized anyway. :)

Also, I'm really not a fan of the ball thing which attaches the "sealant" to the main part. I'll probably remove it in the future if it's annoying (so it only rotates up and down and not left/right)

  • @MrRaiomCurst Thanks for your knowledge and very insightful video:)

  • It sticks on well. The adhesive is only good for one seperation. So if u take it off s second time it won't be as strong.

  • Does the mic sound as good as one on a normal gaming headset, or does it pick up background noise and distorts your voice (makes it sound fuzzy and gravely etc.) like a bluetooth would?

  • @IIlIQuANTuMllIl The mic sounds perfect as it is designed not to pick up back ground noise like other mics. This mic is intended for businesses that have lots of callers in one room. So when you call them you only hear the person talking to you. That was the design of the labtec mic. Stay away from the clip on mics that pic up everything. This will cause annoyance on the other end for the players you are playing with. You dont want a mic that is picking up sound from your tv and other things.

  • @MrRaiomCurst Thanks a bunch. Great video; very helpful. Also, how well does it stick on, once you let it dry?

  • Your very welcome.

  • Thank you so much for this great video, I was struggling with the decision weather to do this or buy astro A40's and you just made up my mind, and saved me some money. =D

  • Viewer 666 here.

  • Qweklain your very welcome glad I could help.

  • Just wanted to say thanks for a good detailed video on what you did here. I was looking around trying to figure out how to get a mic onto ATH_A700s or Phiaton M400s without the drilling and recabling. I did not want a Xalman clip mic and this video showed me a perfect reversible method, thanks man!

  • Thank you Blatty appreciate the comment.:-)

  • Liked and Favorited, you deserve it sir. I am ordering the ATH AD700s and will highly consider getting the Labtec mic.

  • Dan your welcome..I thought people normally edit there videos. Thanks for the kind words.

  • Good knife I got it as a Christmas gift

  • holy shit, I have that exact same knife here on my computer desk

  • OMFG! THANK YOU FOR EDITING YOUR VIDEO!!! I LOVE YOU. most faggots on here leave in a lot of useless shit in their videos and it pisses me off

  • Thanks Isaac my real first video.

  • professional video

  • sexy box!!!

  • how do you hook this up to your mixamp for xbox 360 gaming?

  • I didn't use black tape cuz I didn't want all that adhesive on the wire..Zip ties are easy to cut and it gave the wire a robotic skeletal look. It's all preference. I did though with to hot shrink rubber tubes. I will post update soon.

  • Your welcome everyone. Also I will provide an update as to what I used after the zip ties. Go to any kragen or autozone and pick up heat shrink tubes. Slide the wires.through and heat the tube with a lighter gently and in 2 seconds u will see the tune make both wires look like one.

  • nice thanks for posting this

  • really nice tut. just one question though, why did you use zip ties and not some black electrical tape?

  • Thank you for the kind words.

  • Awesome work there! I'm thinking of doing something like this to my AD700's.

  • I like thanks
