Just finished watching this movie. Such a sad situation for those lost teenagers. It was good that she got those teenagers back on their own 2 feet. And it's sad that this crap still goes on. Had this not been a TV movie we're talking Oscar material for Quinlan's performance, she's that good here. At least an Emmy would've been called for. Anyway, I wonder who owns it today is it Columbia or MGM. If it's Columbia we can probably kiss a proper release goodbye, but if it's MGM we might see it in their archive line of releases one day. Hopefully (though not too hopeful) remastered from the murky mess it is here, it so deserves it. By the way, saw my old copy the other day; still better.

Always loved this 1985 TV movie, think it's one of Quinlan's best performances but the performances overall are excellent. Too bad most copies are dark and murky, my old copied rental is miles better than the crappy R2 booty DVD from Pegasus which is an insult. I think the woman she portrays and her organization inspired the 1989 Richard Marx song.

i hated the ending. the last scene when dr lois finds valerie valerie is in an abandoned house all beat up. then the two of them have a fightand end up throwing each other down the stairs. dr. lois then breaks down in tears and says "i cand do it for you anymore." too late though. dr lois has just torn apart her relationship with her boyfriend for her. the dr lois in this film seems pretty messed up herself to me.

i guess that would depend on your point of view. dr. lois i think crosses the line when it appears she has fallen in love with valerie. she dumps her boyfriend for her!!! im not sure if she really did do a good job in trying to lead the kids by a better example (if that what she was trying to do). but this is a film so hard to say how accurate it is.
