Swanson Vitamins' prices on most products beats those on Amazon.com by a pretty big margin. Just compare their prices on NOW supplements; the difference is often a few dollars per bottle. Swanson's house-branded supplements are excellent, and the company's website is well-designed and informative. It's my first and only stop for nutritional and herbal supplements.
@swansonvitamins I am curious about your Whole Food Multi-Vitamin w/o Iron Dietary Supplement. Whole Food supplements are the best, but is this product REALLY a whole food supplement? I see it contains ascorbic acid...
I have only good things to say about Swanson. Great product quality, large variety of products, good prices, fast delivery. I live in central Europe where supplements are very expensive. Thanks to Swanson Health Products I save a lot of money.
I buy my supplements/vitamins from Swanson a couple of times per year. I can save some money even though I live in Scandinavia and have to pay international freight. I have only good things to say so far when it comes to products, delivery and customer service.
I'd be very cautious over Swanson vitamins. Their vitamins are so cheap, that it makes me wonder about them.
Cheaper brands have been found to not really contain the amounts that the label says. Swanson sells calcium citrate & magnesium supplements that have supposedly the exact same amounts as Twin Labs version but at less than 1/5 the cost. Am I to believe that a well known company like Twin Labs would be undersold by that much? I am thinking Swanson isn't being truthful in their labeling.

swansonvitamins: thank you for your reply, I truly appreciate it. And yes, it looks like I need to stand corrected since it does say that Swanson vitamins are independently inspected.
swansonvitamins: I just read the report by Consumer Lab Reports regarding multivitamins. Swanson's multivitamin was found to have inaccurate labeling in that it falls short of the listed amount of folic acid. What do you have to say about this? This is exactly why I am cautious about brands that have prices that seem too good to be true.
In January, 2006, Consumer Labs tested a sample of one of our multiple vitamins and their test claimed that the product was below the stated label claim of 400 mcg folic acid, containing only 77.5% of the labeled amount. We take the quality of our supplements very seriously and every product bearing the Swanson name undergoes rigorous testing by independent laboratories before sale to the public.
Unfortunately, even different assays produce different results and that even testing the same material twice using the same protocols often produces varied results. After this claim from Consumer Labs, we retested the retention samples for the Daily Multi & Mineral and test values for folic acid tested out above the label claim of 400 micrograms. We dispute the levels in their testing.
I can completely understand and appreciate the fact that Consumer Labs may be in error or may have just tested a bad lot, etc. But even you have to admit, it does throw up a red flag to me as a consumer.
I do understand that you test your vitamins through an independent laboratory, but do you fund the testing?
If you're funding the tests, those labs may feel the added pressure of telling you what you want to hear. Consumer Lab reports on the other hand isn't connected to you in any way.
By the way, I wanted to let you know that I extensively research vitamins before I make a purchase. So I hope you aren't taking my posts as an attack on you, but it's rather more a chance to give you an opportunity to tell me (and anyone else who is reading) what happened. If I wasn't interested in Swanson, then I wouldn't be writing.
Everyone should research their supplements and be educated on their own health. As mentioned earlier, we proudly stand behind the guaranteed purity and potency of our vitamins and supplements. Feel free to call 1-800-824-4491 and ask for a product specialist if you would like to get more detailed information.
@swansonvitamins: I'd be more than happy to call and talk to a specialist. By the way, I appreciate that you stand behind your vitamins... but then again, all vitamin companies do. I seriously doubt that if I called up Bayer, they'd tell me that One-A-Day sucks.
About to make my first order, put them in Google, and then saw this video, so I thought I'd check it out.
It was between Swanson and Puritans Pride. While Swanson didn't beat PP on every price (PP has lots of 2 for 1 deals), overall they were cheaper, and now I can see why. Everything is automated, so they've drastically cut labor costs. They only have to pay people to do QC, or to fix the machines if they break down.
Anyway, if all turns out ok they'll have a customer for a long time.
Swanson is by far one of the best health/supplement companies in the US. The products are high quality and very reasonably priced. You can find almost everything in their magazines or online that one would need.
I have used Swanson's for years, and use them for all of my supplement purchases. Great company, great products, low prices, and great customer service.
Swanson definitely have great prices and products... Swanson will definitely be my first and only stop for all of my nutritional needs....
