  • I enjoy your videos. I like the way you teach. Thanks for all the info.

  • I know you are a really good teacher.

  • Very interesting.

The good news is: this isn't a concern if you are an administrator and trying to protect your files from other non-administrators, rather than other administrators.

  • Your a brillant teacher BetaFlux!!

  • @HoneyBanana30 Thanks a bunch, I'm glad it helped you.

  • I love the surprise motif at the beginning it’s so infomercially.

  • are both accounts (that you showed to us) administrators?

  • @angelinamcmullin yes both accounts have admin rights

  • Even with that much updates and service packs. windows vista is still too darn slow since all those updates have overloaded the registry. windows 7 on the other hands rarely gets an update.

That's because there's rarely a problem with it.

  • win7 is way better than vista, I have ran win7 for some time and still go back to XP pro.

  • Couldn't agree more. I've been using the retail version of windows 7 build 7600.... no problems whatsoever... if a problem does arise... it's very rare since most problems can be solved with updates from the software manufacturer.

It's like a better XP inside but so much better the windows vista on the outside.

  • M$ did say in Vista "security is a priority", but Windows allows anything to happen :(

  • where can I find my user account. It's missing & can't find @ my control panel.

  • YouTube isn't a place to post information that 7 year old's are learning in Primary School, also, Upgrade your computer..

  • Yes it is. Not everyone has great computers.

I made this one about seven years ago.

  • I keep switching back and forth, not sure which I like better.

  • I try to use vista for awhile and after so long it starts acting up on me, I havent tried it in about 6 months though.

  • Vista is to buggy, win-7 is ok

  • Windows xp is the best of all the Microsoft Operating system's

  • Haha awesome =D now i can acess to my school's computer's startup folder :P

  • Yo it's me the guy you helped wit the tails dude im back on this account for alpha testing games ignore haters there reasons to post comments is i believe there saying that because there jealous you're smarter than them how are ye?

  • Are you even old enough to be on youtube?

  • Nice job, very detailed. I like the switch from video cam to screen cam, makes it easier for the non advanced users to understand, 5 stars...& a added bonus-clear speaking english-5 stars

lack of child like voice or british or arab accent-no offense to them, they just cant be undertood as well.

this guy does a great job.

  • Thanks Michael,

Glad you stopped by and thanks for the comment and the rate.

  • Can someone help me...

how do i get past a user password; at the loggin screen.. It's my only account on my other computer and i havent used it for awhile... and i forgot the password completely. Someone help :[

  • try starting up in safe mode and login into the admin account, then you can go into control panel and remove your password.

  • Thanks man, but the thing again is...The computer is in Portuguese but that helped

  • and if the safemode does not work, take the hard driv out, put it in as a slave drive or to a external case. Go to Computer & you will see the new srive, but it may 1st install the proper drivers, beforte it reads the new drive, unless you use a plug & play or external case or as slave, then follow Guru BetaFlux's video here...also he said he was doing a video that will be of interest to you, i did not check, but he may have done it already.

  • how do they get into the first user file, to access the password protected account ?

  • I have a program for that, I was thinking about making a video for it.

  • Comment removed

  • yeah I figured this out myself when a friended had his harddrive broken. I just took his HDD into my my computer and opened C: drive. I could get every file but the My Folders I had trouble with. After playing around with it for a few minutes I found this flaw and opened it up so I could back it up. I still have a few more trix that I know =P

  • wow that was very interesting! now how does a user really secure his/her account if the password feature really dosnt work? ty in advance and great video!

    Is there any alternative?

    xxx

  • didn't know you could do that nice

  • wow nice video betaflux ,just continue ,nice video .......

  • Can anyone tell me, does this work if I connect an "unbootable" HDD with XP on it from another pc and need to get the locked (private) document files off -or does it only work on the c: drive your logged on to?

  • can you make a video on how to share a file to another computer,I have looked for that and havent found how to do it please show me.

  • u got vista? weather u do or not you will need a network router. and then you connect both computers to that. if u have vista u can goto the start menu then network. and click the computer name.

to share stuff you will need to goto the network and sharing centre and enable all and disable password sharing. then on the computer with files u wanna share, right click the folder u wanna share and goto properties then sharing. and share it. have fun:) this works with drives too.

  • Assistant

    How entered computer

I want to open the computer

    Poroplem System

    ALL Virus

  • Boot from an Ubuntu Live CD and you'll be able to access every file on that computer, password or not. A non-encrypted drive is not secure.

  • best!

  • (Part 2 of my comment)

For saving time, you can remove your default users password with pressing "Ctrl + Alt + Delete" at "Welcome Screen" and logging in with "Administrator". When you just go down in "Start", and "Run..." and type "control userpasswords2", and when you can do rest of yourself.

If your "Administrator" is passworded, when use bootable cracking tools. Burn OPHCrack Live CD and boot into it, when you just wait until it are cracking, and when all your passwords back.

    Tada!

  • (Part 1 of my comment)

Well, the Windows User Account configuration is stored in %SystemRoot%\config\SAM, which is a system hive registry.

"SAM", short for Security Accounts Manager, stores the users password in a hashed format (in an LM hash and NTLM hash).

  • wow...man, awesome vid again dave. 5/5!

  • Hey! Same keyboard! Came with an 8 year old HP PC.

  • that was fuckin awesome!!!!!!!!

  • w00t windows disser!!!!!!

  • ok so i tried this out and it worked perfectly.. as long as your account is set to administrator.. is there any way to do this on a restricted account? (just wondering)

also, this is kinda off the subject, but i've been on some pc's where right-clicking on the taskbar and desktop has been dissabled. is there any way to get around this? it's soo annoying. (this would also be on a limmited account)

  • bravo thanks for sharing!!

  • Nice Video, But I Only Have 1 User, And I Don't Have Sexual Stuff On My User.. So.. I Don't Care! Although.. Please Make a Video About A Anti-Virus?

you should be able to just go to

    C:/Documents and Settings/,

right click on the folder, and select delete.

delete an account, but hit "no" when it asks

you if you want to delete the files as well.

    Lauren:)

  • Thanks for commenting Lauren, I am happier than I have been in awhile, I have decided to stay in Mi, It is just to hard to leave all my family behind, I am working my computer business full time and trying to make the best of things.

I hope you are doing well.

    Dave

  • I'm not so good this morning. I installed trendmicro yesterday it was a trail version

and this morning when I went to turn on my desk top I can not get it to work at all. I have my laptop that is woking. I called and they could not help me. I tried safe mode,'

safe mode with networking and normal and It just won't work. I have a diagnostic CD I used and it said it was a software issue.

Do you have a quick fix suggestion?'

    Lauren:)

  • Best thing you can do is to run a repair with the windows cd, Trend-Micro may have deleted a file you need. Do a search on utube for windows xp repair, Do not confuse this with a (restore) doing a restore will wipe out your system, Repair will only reinstall windows files.

  • Hi,

They don't give you a windows CD WHEN YOU BUY A NEW PC now days. I did not get one with the one that is not working and this laptop that is top of the line..I might just have to take it to best buy to be looked at.

Hope that you have much success with your new business. I will let you know how it goes with the problem.

    Lauren:)

  • Not everybody is rich.

  • Ouch, I hate to see you have to do that at best buy, If you have a friend with a computer you could plug your hard drive into that computer and run a scandisk.

  • yeah! OEMs won't give you Windows cds anymore, instead they give you two options. First, the pc comes with a program that will burn one set of recovery cds. Second, you contact your pc vendor and request them, they will send them to you(some will charge you for shipping).

  • depending on what type of comp you have, you might have to burn, or request recovery disks from the manufacturer, like reedcaifan said.

but some computers, like hp, have a special space formatted on the hard drive (a vertual hard drive, if you will) that holds the system recovery data.

in this case, you just hit a key when you first boot up (it should tell you which key to press).

i find it helpful to store your documents on a backup hard drive. that way you don't loose your files.
