its so fucking funny when trio wents 2 front of gladstone 2 hav any plans shunting
trucks down da sidin, but when trio didnt realizin that gladstone *did* hav left already and nearly left trio behind, but with lotta luck, duo (albert & harbottle) did hav rescued "gladstone" from escapin while porter hilariously tells 'em 2 hurryup
the three stars all squatting on the track as the train bears down on them. they jump out of the way with inches to spare... no computer generated tricks there.
that shot would never have got past the health and safety today, you can't stop these heavy engines quick even if you lock the wheels..
loved these guys in all their films. wish they had stayed a team for longer so they could have filmed some more classics.
Yeah! I've watched that scene a few times now, and it looked a bloody near thing to me! I can't imagine a modern actor being allowed to do that - even assuming they would want to! Nobody but a highly trained Stuntman would be allowed to do it these days! GREAT film!
'I loved these guys, Will Hay, Moore Marriot and Graham Moffat...' I loved the Unfriendly Local Owl character, sat on the Station direction sign, encountered by Porter when he got off the bus! He had one hell of a tricky line to deliver there you know! Should have at least got an Oscar nomination for it! I wonder where his career took him after this? 'Harry Potter', I s'pose! By the way, is your wife Irish then? ;-)
@BritishAlienCompany The site of the station is now a digger and truck Hire place. The embankments are still pretty visible and you can follow the route of the railway from the road.
@Tungtvann Sadly England doesn't exist anymore. There was a massive riot in the 80's where they dropped the 'En'. Left some rather unfortunate side effects :P xx
This is from my favourite film, have a friend that I watch it with every so often and its still funny even though we know all the words. Sad yes but its great!
If we had a crane we lift it out. With some dynamite we could blow it out!
These three were genius's, and I could watch them over and over again and still laugh at them every time. Thanks for the posting of this great British humour.
I think this is my favourite Will Hay film. The interplay between those three is so good it's unbelievable, very nearly as good as the Marx Brothers for pure chemistry and timing.
Will Hay, comic genius. It's a shame that his films aren't shown on Network TV these days. In the 80's and 90's his films used to be on BBC & Channel 4 regularly.
lol this is actually pretty good for a 30s flick
