Thank you so much lee for that awesome video my goal for 2012 is to get ripped an put some size on I have only just found your channel not gone through your videos yet I will have a look now but if you could would you online a typical 5/6 lean meal a day program perhaps the one you use?
Love the video's they are excellent and I can see progress in my workouts, however I can't seem to get the ripped look, I have very little definition, what would u suggest I do? I have a standard weights and cardio routine but which one should I focus on? Thanks
You need to focus on your diet. Weights and cardio isn't enough. Just click on the link in the video description. The FREE Bodybuilding Quick Start Kit includes a bodybuilding nutrition program.
About your advice for cardio after weight lifting, what about getting protein to your muscles as soon as possible post weight training? Should I drink a protein shake before the 20 minutes of cardio post weight training? I have always heard how critical it is to get your protein in right after weight training.
I've been weight training for about a month now, and after every workout (Mon-Fri) I always put in 30 minutes of cardio, how long will it be until I see MAJOR results? is there a certain timetable maybe?
You have to prioritize what's most important. So if your main goal is getting bigger and stronger then focus on that. If your main goal is fat loss focus on that. That's why bodybuilders have phases in their training for off-season mass building and phases for pre-contest cutting.
I personally find eating a low carb diet and doing regular cardio the best way to lose bodyfat. But to each their own. You'll have to experiment and see what works the best for you.

Hey Lee I'm quite young so I've never had to do this but all that gorging in an attempt to get big has caught up with me. I've just started on a 6 week cutting diet. After a lotttt of research, my diet is solid, workouts are solid and I'm hoping to lose about about a pound a week, so 6 lbs overall.
My question is, If I lose 6 lbs of bodyweight, how much of that weight will be fat and how much will be lean body mass?

I think I am in love with one of these girls in the gym but I haven't even talked to her, I have noticed her watching me sometimes and that kinda was the trigger for me to feel atracted to her. Well to me and my friends the gym seems to be like the worst place to sweet talk girls or something. Did you meet Trish in the gym?? Lol well goodbye,
At this stage you should just focus on a good basic beginners workout program. I'm actually going to posting some new beginner workout videos this week, so make sure to subscribe to my channel to get them. Just focus on being consistent with your exercise routine and keeping the junk food to a minimum. This will help you build lean muscle and improve the definition in your abs.
Lee, with respect to doing cardio after weight training, where does your post-workout nutrition (i.e. protein shake) fit in? Do you take your shake immediately after weights and before cardio, or just BCAA's at that time, or do you wait to take your protein after cardio?
I wait until I finish the entire workout (i.e. weights and cardio) before having my post workout shake. If you want you can take BCAA's during your workouts to help keep your body in an anabolic state and prevent muscle breakdown.
It's actually common to be lean and have visible abdominal definition when you are young, especially if you are very active with sports, working out, etc. But make sure to keep the junk food to a minimum, it's easy to quickly pile on lots of excess bodyfat as you get older and your metabolism slows down.
(I'm speaking from experience, as I started working out when I was 12 years old).

I said walking on a treadmill. Keep in mind this is not meant to be a high intensity cardio workout, it's just an "Extra Add On" to help burn off some bodyfat. Save the higher intensity cardio for a separate session on it's own
@TheDrizen running is amazing...it will only eat away at your muscel should you undereat. as long as you have a nice pre-run meal and protein filled post-run meal youll be a lean mean machine

Hey Lee, I'm currently 16 and I weigh 198 pounds. I have a good amount of muscle, but I've been trying to lose about 20-30 pounds of fat. I lift 5 times a week and was mainly wondering how many times a week should I do cardio and what to eat for breakfast, lunch, and my occasional snack. Any advise?
Make sure to download a copy of my "Bodybuilding Quick Start Kit". This will cover all the basic questions you have in more detail. The link is in the video description above.
Hi Lee, thanks for the vids, this is my current routine
monday - push, tuesday - pull, wednesday - rest, thursday - legs + abs, friday rest, saturday - cardio, sunday - rest. Does this sound like a decent way of building muscle while shredding body fat? or would you suggest build the muscle, then shred the fat? cheers.
Make sure to download a copy of my "Bodybuilding Quick Start Kit". This will cover all the basic questions you have in more detail. The link is in the video description above.
But to help speed up fat loss you can do cardio on a daily basis. Either as a separate session on it's own, or combined with your weight training as I mentioned in this video.
Hahah funneh stuff Lee, well done ! It's not what you eat between X-Mas and New year that ruins your goals, but what you eat between New Years and X-Mas ! Great video as always !
Thanks Lee Nice video. I cam from 80 to 67 kilos now. My aim is to lose those last 3 to 4 kilos and fat in low abdominal and its still fluctuating between 66 and 67. I do Cardio (trademill and cycling ) normally everyday about 30-45 minutes before the workouts. Now, I will change that routine. Thanks for you tips and I will let you know my progress to lose those last 4 kilos and ofcourse the abs.
Hey lee, i'm just starting to get back on the workout again. Haven't worked out in 2 months. I'm really into powerlifting but i want to get some cardio in. So how do i balance out the two if i want to maintain my strength
Hey Leem, this is the first time i've watched your video and i have a question, i was born with no legs and one arm so its more difficult for me to work abs than any other person, i've never had abs before and i was wondering since im 16 and still growing do i have to eat strictly even though im still growing and my metabolism is fast and how long would i start to show. You can check my videos out at my channel, please thumbs up so he sees this. ;]
I just seen your channel and it's very inspirational. In your case you are going to heavily work your core muscles (i.e. abs, obliques, lower back, etc.) just moving around. So the only thing you really need to do in order to see more muscle definition is keep your bodyfat low. I cover how to structure a good bodybuilding nutrition program in more detail in my "Bodybuilding Quick Start Kit" that's in the video description above.
Hey Lee, you should also mention that taking a BCAA drink before your after cardio can help benefit, because right after you lift weights your body is dying for that protein shake. And since most of us can't drink and go on a treadmill without upsetting the stomach, BCAA's will help get the job done.
hey Lee, if I increase my cardio during my workout, then it will last me at least 1h30... so should i take an intra wokrout supplement such as BCAA or aminos.... would u recommend it?
My specific goals for this year are - to reach 100 kgs on Squat and Deadlift as working set , 90 Bench press , 50 Push press and to become 75 kgs bodyweight with 10-12% body fat :)
Do you suggest doing high intensity interval cardio after workouts? And if you're using a treadmill to warm up do you walk on an incline or do a slow jog? Thanks Lee!
I just do moderate paced cardio after weight training. Your body is already depleted from the weight training and doing high intensity cardio afterwards may just cause you to burn out and over train. We're just using this extra cardio as a fat loss tool, it's not the main emphasis of our training like it is for endurance athletes.
As for your warming up, a 10 minute jog is fine as well. Just get a bit of a sweat worked up before you hit the gym floor.
That's awesome, good for you. While it's harder / slower to lose those final pounds, they are the ones that make the biggest difference in how you look. The final pounds can take a physique from "lean" to "ripped".
@leemhayward cheers i also find i crave ice cream and chocolate sometimes as i was a very heavy drinker, i try to limit it, but more cardio is the key cheers
@vodo808 Im not really body building, I do 30 to 60 minutes jogging on a rebounder in the morning, just using 11.5 kg dumbells i do arms one day then chest, shoulders and back on alternate days, and i took up ninjutsu about 6 months ago which is pretty physical at the dojo i go to, im trying to just eat lean meats and veg, sardines and natural yoghurt and nuts, but sometime the craving for sugar gets me
@zombiekick3r Nice :) recently i just started weight training, but i started jogging about a year ago. yeah that sugar cravings are crazy, usually when i get them i eat an orange or some other fruits. but this past holiday i was a sucker and dabbled into some sweets and cookies all that. keep up the good work
I was 310 lbs about 1 year and a half ago....Im 195 today. So i basically reached my goal of gettin udner 200 lbs...But my new goal is to hit 8% bodayfat! Wish me luck!
nice video ........I usually run(jogging) 4 to 5 miles a day before hitting to the gym. ..does this will help to lower the fat percentage ...........effectively ??????
Any extra cardio like that will help burn bodyfat. When I'm dieting for competition I'll do upwards of 1 hour of cardio in the morning and then do my weight training and extra cardio again in the evening.
Yes, this is the same video I posted yesterday. I had to take it down and edit some audio problems with the video. But please feel free to share your comments and feedback here on this one...
I'll be back and forth here all day chatting here in the comments section :-)

So I should stop eating carbs before I work out? Won't this reduce my strength during exercise and in turn reduce my gains?
Also in Dorian Yates' video series he says that cardio and weight lifting should be kept separate because mixing them also can reduce your gains.
I know this is advice on stripping body fat and I don't doubt that it works, but is there a way to do it without sacrificing strength gains?

Hey Lee, I'm currently 16 and I weigh 198 pounds. I have a good amount of muscle, but I've been trying to lose about 20-30 pounds of fat. I lift 5 times a week and was mainly wondering how many times a week should I do cardio and what to eat for breakfast, lunch, and my occasional snack. Any advise?

Hi Lee, thanks for the vids, this is my current routine
monday - push, tuesday - pull, wednesday - rest, thursday - legs + abs, friday rest, saturday - cardio, sunday - rest. Does this sound like a decent way of building muscle while shredding body fat? or would you suggest build the muscle, then shred the fat? cheers.

BOSS20s 1 month ago
@BOSS20s
Doing moderate cardio after your training, just like I mentioned here in this video will not hinder your strength / muscle gains.

You can check my videos out at my channel, please thumbs up so he sees this. ;]

@NickSanto534

And since most of us can't drink and go on a treadmill without upsetting the stomach, BCAA's will help get the job done.

hey lee what are your thoughts on eating fruit at night?
WildDanHibiki 1 month ago
@WildDanHibiki
When training for fat loss I'll only eat fruit post workout. Just like I said in the video, "Eat Your Carbs After Exercise" and fruit is all carbs.

Do you suggest doing high intensity interval cardio after workouts? And if you're using a treadmill to warm up do you walk on an incline or do a slow jog? Thanks Lee!
putitallontheline 1 month ago
@putitallontheline

@zombiekick3r more cardio ! suck it up buttercup!!!
zombiekick3r 1 month ago
@zombiekick3r
That's awesome, good for you. While it's harder / slower to lose those final pounds, they are the ones that make the biggest difference in how you look. The final pounds can take a physique from "lean" to "ripped".

@leemhayward cheers i also find i crave ice cream and chocolate sometimes as i was a very heavy drinker, i try to limit it, but more cardio is the key cheers

vodo808 1 month ago
@vodo808 Im not really body building, I do 30 to 60 minutes jogging on a rebounder in the morning, just using 11.5 kg dumbells i do arms one day then chest, shoulders and back on alternate days, and i took up ninjutsu about 6 months ago which is pretty physical at the dojo i go to, im trying to just eat lean meats and veg, sardines and natural yoghurt and nuts, but sometime the craving for sugar gets me
zombiekick3r 1 month ago
@zombiekick3r Nice :) recently i just started weight training, but i started jogging about a year ago. yeah that sugar cravings are crazy, usually when i get them i eat an orange or some other fruits. but this past holiday i was a sucker and dabbled into some sweets and cookies all that. keep up the good work
vodo808 1 month ago
@vodo808 never mind it was xmas LOL, if i eat some crap i dont eat much else but some protein that day to keep the calories down!

Any extra cardio like that will help burn bodyfat. When I'm dieting for competition I'll do upwards of 1 hour of cardio in the morning and then do my weight training and extra cardio again in the evening.
