  • i see this ride all over the twin cities at show time. it is awesome

  • I was just in California. I saw people using two cycle engines, maybe they were grandfathered in. One guy had a beighe lawn Boy mower. Must be 40+ years old.

  • here in califronia. do to the strict state's smog stander's. you cannot run anny two stroke gas. or. diesel moter . not even a lefe blower. or lawn mower. I would like to know . what state this video was film in ?.

  • @radio44 Minnesota.

  • @radio44 Yet another reason not to live in California.

  • @ThePropGuys Amen!

  • That is an AWESOME-sounding engine. I want one.

It's like a little baby EMD 567! 8D *hugs it*

  • Sounds like it has a rod knock, lol.

    Awesome job, :O)

  • My Dad built one of these in the early eighties. 1971 C20 Chevy with a 3-53 pony motor that used to run a pump. Started of with a muncie four. After destroying a few of those, switched to a NP 4 speed from a Dodge. That lasted, but first gear was less than useless. If you dumped the clutch accidentaly, the CV joint on the drive would grenade. Cheap to drive though and would hum along at 72 all day.

  • real trucks rattle!

  • motelcambodia. he has a 3 53 detroit in his rig

  • From the sounds of it, I think you better check your heights or rack settings

  • @Maggie40477 Yep sounds like a cylinder or 2 are being carried at idle.

  • can someone help me here im not from the us and i want to know what the last numbers like 53,71 and 92 mean on the detroits and does the 318 stand for detroit 318 hp or cubic inch, and is there any inline 6 detroit??

  • @DAF460 last number is cubic inch first is cylinder so 12V71 it would be 12 cylinder V con ,71 inch per cylinder .

  • 318 is the hp rating for an 8v71 engine, thus, giving it its nickname the "318" Detroit. Yes, Detroit made inline 6 engines. 2-71, 3-71, 4-71, and 6-71 are all inline engines. Note that the "v" is missing. I hope this helps.

  • That thing deserves a better air filter.

  • It asking to tow something

  • I think I have a hard on now......

  • @possmguts you think?

  • Should have laid it over on it's side, at abotu 45º. It would have fit better. You can lay those Detroits over completely on their side. A lot of old school busses are set up that way, usually with 671 inline engines.

  • listen to that spool

  • I must do this before I die.

My father had a 453 detroit in a loader when I was a kid and I always dreamed of doing this but thought it was just silly and impossible.

  • @rkaprowski Good luck with that project. My grandfather had a John Deere bulldozer, I want to find out what kind and get one for my father.

  • I live in Newport, right off of hwy 61. It was a '97 black mark 8, my winter beater.

  • THERE WAS A GUY IN MY TOWN THAT PUT ONE IN A 76 FORD PICKUP. IT RAN FOREVER!!

  • I would love to know what tranny is in there.... Ive seen a few vids but none with it driving.... Real cool truck though.... I have a lowrider Crew Cab Dually with a 6.5 TD that I would love to swap out for one of those.

  • I've raced you once. I was in my beater lincoln mark 8. That was fun and dead even.

  • depending where you live that might have been me!

  • I would have swapped it into a truck with a much larger engine bay.

  • ledfoot's chevy

  • Is it just me or does it sound like it has a skip?

  • @josh216882000

Maybe just the sound quality of the vid?

  • @dadsbabypu Yea could be.
