Well, there are actually several variants of Teochew, I suppose that, because most of the Chaozhou overseas can trace their origin back to Shantou, that we are speaking the Shantou dialect. Also, I think it is because the song is in Standard Written Chinese, just sung in Chaozhou- the lyrics uses 的 to indicate possesion, whereas, at least as I understand it, we would use 'guy' as in 'ee guy' for his/her, 'uo guy' for my, or 'le guy' for yours.
