@spacemonkeys0681 I would recommend that you use engines with starters so that they can run a cool down mode during shut down. My engines needed 150 psi for start up and to cool down which was a pain to do. Also use cowlings that come with the engines so you won’t fod the engines out like I did. Safety is the biggest thing; get a CO2 fire extinguisher just in case. And of course a fire resistant suit and some kind of safety stand to hook up to.
@spacemonkeys0681 If you are building it for your own experience and the challenge, I would recommend it. If you are trying to make a business out of it I would not recommend this project. I had about $40,000 in just materials when I built the jet pack.
@mrkhristoff I did not have the funding to complete the project, so I decided to finish my bachelors in Technical management and move on until something else entices me.
what a piece of shit, he has zero control, he's got a very very very long way to go still. Guess he only thought of power and not balance/control when he was thinking it up.
its called a rope to keep it off the ground and it wasnt actually doing anything till about 3 minutes in and there was more then enough wind to say it was being lifeted by a rope. nice job guys
Your video is unterresting and I'd like to hear more about the technical side of your device, and please ignore youtubes usual bunch of foul mouthed gibbering monkeys.
jetpacks will become usable someday, and for the nay sayers, look at a fucking Harrier. who would have thought that a plane could lift like a helicopter 30 years ago? hmmm. maybe those who know anything about propulsion.
Have you seen the French guy who flys around with wings with jets on? Needs a plane to take him up at the moment but is developing a take off system. cool. FYI actually the harrier has been around for about 40 years. Time flies!
It could work..... but if one of those jets on either side puffs out on you in flight, your gonna die in a nasty flip flop sort of way. It would be better to use one jet on the back pack with thrust directional thrust tubes where you have your engines now. Also a back support that can hinge that goes down along the back of your thighs. Its great to see This. good luck
its not fake, its a flight trial, its a safety teather so we dont see him splattered all over youtube...wait for the future, im sure we will see this in the air.(with out the wires)
Regardless, 8x30lbs thrust certainly provides enough force to get anyone but a sumo wrestler off the ground. The Bell x1 rocketbelt has been around since the fifties (hydrogen peroxide + silver catalyst fuled) but can only fly 40 sec. I dont see why a real jetpack like this is so implausable, maybe it just needs some industrial oversight
I had this same idea when I was 15, building my first kit rc plane. I remember ads in the rc magazines for jet engines for model jets capable of producong 30+ lbs of thrust. They cost over 3k a piece, thus I moved on to failing at building a hovercraft from a vacum motor (boyslife classifieds).
Nope just some redneck Idea! he cant possible began to gett controll of the direction the thrust take him to a degree safe enough for flight. Take those strings off that keep him from flyinh face first and youll see what I mean!
No sound, no power, I rather use a rocket belt, this machine is a widow maker in case just one of the small jets fails and this jets have a VERY short life due to the bearings don't have adequate lubrication, no thank you!! rocket belt is 100% more reliable and don't have a single moving part to wear out but I recognize the ingenuity of the builder, hope he never fly this machine free because he will be killed!
I tried looking for some turbines but i can't find anything that puts out at least 100 pounds of thrust , is there anything like that out there?
spacemonkeys0681 1 year ago
@spacemonkeys0681 I haven’t looked around lately for a gas turbine, so I can't help you on that.

what kind of body harness are you using?

what kinda body harness is that?
spacemonkeys0681 1 year ago
@spacemonkeys0681 I used an ARMY surplus parachute harness that I bolted directly to the frame of the pack.

I am trying to build the same exact jet pack, Ia m only 23 5'5 and 130 lbs. Do you have any tips for me and how , much did it cost.

You need 2 more AMT-450
the AMT-450 is good choice for Fuel Consumption
16 oz\m, the Olympus will suck 22.5 oz\m
you need about 30 liters fuel tank to hover 5 min @ full throtel !

i've seen this turbine concept before, only the exhaust was directed at an outward angle to provide stability and used an additional 2 engines.

Needs control moment gyro stabalization, and the pilot needs to be suspended a foot or two lower for better C/G stabalization if the gyros fail.
