As a molecular biologist, trained in chromatin structure and function, polymerase chain reaction, cloning using electrophoresis and chemical competence, physiology, cell structure and function, and morphology, I wish I could understood the meaning of words this artists uses. Metaphor: What is this?
When I read Shakespeare or Cummings; when I view a Duchamp or a Manet; When I see a Spike-Lee or roman Polanski film I can do nothing but stare and drool. Oh! For a scientist such as I to understand metaphor! To laugh an irony! To even understand humor! I have none of these! If only they taught this in the molecular biology program!
