One of the finest exponents of the "shoegazing" scene of the early 90's,Lush were the epitome of the 4AD sound, perhaps with the exception of the Cocteau Twins. If i had to chose between the 2 i would go for Lush,if only because i saw them at their peak, and they were amazing.
A terrible tragedy that they had to curtail their existence all too soon but goodness me, they left a wonderful legacy!
I remember hearing this song on 88.7, CIMX, otherwise known as 89X (formerly CJOM) in Windsor, Ontario around March of '91 near my 13th birthday. I only heard it once but the song stuck with me all these years. I recall turning the stereo up so loud to this song 'cause it was SO good. I couldn't resist! Not knowing who made this song, I though I heard the DJ say "Lush" by Deluxe. Years later, when I learned that Lush did "De-Luxe," I ended up buying 'Gala' on CD & a great CD it is.
AWESOME. I always liked this song. It's unfortunate when one discovers Music such as this at a much later date. However, one can argue that's it's great to have even discovered them at all.
The best band to come out of England since the Stones. Better than the Smith, Charlatan, Roxy Music, Stone Roses(all fantastic bands). Ealy Lush is genius, no arguement.
If you can get the album this is from (Gala) then do. It's superb. this and Sweetness & Light are the most well known songs from the album but the whole thing is full of great songs.
Got to see this band live at the first Lollapalooza show. They were one of the main bands I wanted to see but I remember how underappreciated they were at the time. Great band though. Glad I got to see em before they quit.
I missed out on Lush. I was coming home from the army. I feel like I missed something very special. Better late than never but it still stings to have missed the boat on a band like this. Love the songs, love this song!

I want to marry Miki. I don't care if she never plays another song again. She probably would've come across as unattainable for me if I ran into her during the early 90's. I spent a summer in London - '92. Amazing times. I can understand why she'd prefer a different lifestyle after Lush. So, Miki, if you're reading this, contact me, OK? They absolutley were considered part of the shoegaze movement. If you look around your local internets... more often than not it's Jesus&Mary Chain/MBV/and Lush that are at the forefront of the scene, as it were.
the first time i heard this on rock band, i was playing the bass part (lol i'm bassist irl) i was thinking the basses timing seem hurried and not very flowing and i got kinda irritated but then listening to it i'm like my god it fits perfectly!

@crazyboy554@BadNoobCompany I've been waiting on the slide Suggest I open wide No incentive to hide Happy coursing through my veins Don't even know my name When I'm up you're coming down (x2) Inside of me, some sight to see Some sight to feel our earthy bed When we're wrapped in polythene What's that supposed to mean When we're wrapped in polythene What's that supposed to mean Paper flowers bring me luck No birds in sight I fear Stick sticks in you my dear When I'm up you're coming down (x2)

This is AMAZING.. this song's colorfulness compared to typical rock/whatever made after the magnificent 90's is like comparing watercolor painting to b&w stick figure
am i the only guy who fancied emma more than miki? nevermind, listening and watching this reminds me of a younger guy who was totally in love with music, who found it exciting, stimulating and life affirming, lush were one of a few bands who could do that, sadly the young guy is now 20 years older and struggles to find anything that any longer makes me feel the same.

This is AMAZING.. this song's colorfulness compared to typical rock/whatever made after the magnificent 90's is like comparing watercolor painting to b&w stick figure

Biggy,
Yeah Emma was"top shelf" in her day, don't worry about that!!!! Always better than Miki!!!! With a name like "bg gay one" ???? UMH.

Emma wrote all the gems Deluxe, Nothing Natural, Monchrome, Breeze, LAst Night, etc
