zappa was so in tune with what the future of music would eventually become , only now its even easier to accomplish what he was doing with even better sounds and overall sonic quality , he passed away from us way too soon ,a huge loss , and a void never too be filled
its amazing that this machine that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars 20 years ago, and was such a pain in the ass is virtually free today with midi and VST's
Good God, I wish I could hear what he'd be doing with today's mega-multi-sample libraries & laptops that have as much computing power as that whole Synclavier system.
Frank was a pure genius .To be so serious about song structure and composition and turn around and be pure comedy when it comes to the lyrics.Awsome .Frank you are missed by the music world !! and as we all know the mainstream music world of today surely would have been his main source of his great comical lyrics
Hearing what he's working on from 4:12 makes me so pissed off he's not making music still. There was always a bit of darkness to his orchestral work, but it really comes out here where he is just showing a bit of his process.
Feels like gravity is taking a personal offense to some poor individual.
I think one of the great tragedies of Zappas early demise, is that the gear Zappa had to work with cost him millions, and you can now obtain even better gear for cheaper than a paypacket. Dididesign gear and, say, eastwest orchestra sample pack for a few hundred dollars. Zappa would have been able to make amazing music, and not had to mortgage his fortune on it. He might have even rethought his saying "Mother dont let your son grow up to be a composer". He would have hated modern pop music tho.
if zappa were alive today he would love using the software called REASON, great sampling... frank zappa was so ahead of his time, progressing at every musical opportunity
there's no "classic" zappa. his music is a unity, his "rock" is just as complex and elaborate as his classical music. what he says concerns music in general not only orchestral or avant-garde.i reject classical fetishism, classic can well be as shitty as pop

the trouble is you might have the idealised tone - but the idealised emotion can't really be stored or quantified. To be human it has to be flawed.

@ryanbrownnew emotion in music is subjective though :D

Zappa Genio anche se secondo me si era un po fissato con l'uso del Fayrlight,l'ha spremuto fino a fonderlo, cmq sia sempre un grande!

@duckmonsterX too right! he would have loved all the sequencing/sampling software around today, and he would probably have used Sibelius as well.
