Hellow i just purchased a blofeld and i am running off of logic. now i have my midi out of my sound card to the midi in of the blofeld as well as the stereo outs going to inputs 1 and 2 of my sound card. The problem is i cannot get any sound to come out of my blofeld i have a midi track made set to ch 1 and a audio track on stereo set to ch 1 and 2 with the "I" selected , still cannot get sound yet the midi light on the Blofeld lights up every time i hit a key on my midi keyboard. What do i do?
Nice video. Got a review on one of these for our website the other day, but for people like me who didn't get to use it, its much better to see and hear something working as well as read what someone has to say on it! Keep up the good work
wow! a beautiful machine! exist some soft synth with the quality and power like blofeld? or definitive HARDWARE is the real thing to make professional music?
@remixerone Waldorf's Largo probably has 90% of the sound you'd find in the Blo. also bear in mind that the musician makes music, not its instruments :) there's plenty of good sounding softsynths which can bring you quality like digital hardware, though imho there are digital hw synths which still deliver better quality than software (namely, Access, Clavia, Waldorf and probably Kurzweil). The difference will get thinner over the time, probably.
@TheDLovas couldn't agree more. But from a "tool only" pov, I don't really find hardware _necessary_ (apart for the obvious fast computer and good monitoring (converters+monitors)). There's people that think quality comes from hardware, whereas an accurate choice of sounds, fantasy, experience, mixing skills are the actual most important. The connection and inspiration brought by feeling an instrument (or a toy :) ) in front of you are what makes it fun for me - it might not work for everyone.
got one of these after all the soft synths I tried always seemed to lack real punch/presence. had two options: invest some serious (200gbp+ is serious for me anyway) cash in software (my soundcard is good), or go with the blofeld. Cant explain why but the sound is so much better than a soft synth. It can sound as nice or as nasty as you like with plenty of options for creating sublety/chaos
I would guess it's running at 96KHz (i would like to know). VST's sound better at 96KHz than say 44 but also eats proportionally more processing power. I'd guess getting a VST to sound as a Blofeld and have 25 voice polyphony would eat most of the CPU cycles of a decent PC. Seems to definitely be worth its price :)
Yeah, because the Blofeld isn't wrought with serious bugs and crash issues. This is a seriously plagued synth. You should have a look at waldorf's forums, it's a party of hate in there.
It's a great synth for what it does, but it has serious caveats and a terrible attitude problem.
it's not a salad but more of gravy sauce with dust in it.

Not enough knobs for me. Hard to program but sounds great.
mattsynth 11 months ago
@mattsynth have you tried using it? it's incredibly easy to program even with a basic knowledge of synthesis.

I love the screen on this thing and how there are graphical representations of your adjustments.

Does the blofeld have any filters or modulation effects that I can run the patches through?
Is there an appreciator?
I am trying to decide between this and the microkorg?
This have great sounds, but the microkorg comes with other selling points, like filters and effects.
I, already, have a vocoder so my main buying interests are cool spacey sounds, ran through filters and modulation effects...in one unit.
thanks
