I can't find where you replied to my comment on here, but you asked me what my first favorite episode was. My favorite one is when it's Levar's birthday. That one was the best!! And I also like the episode where Levar works in a diner and he can't understand the diner talk, and he gives someone a plate of rice with ice cubes on it, lol. Do you have any other episodes? Post more if you do, please!
Thank you so much for posting this!! This was my second favorite episode of Reading Rainbow, when I was a kid. I remember watching this back in the 80's and I loved it! I've been looking all over for it!! You really made my day with this video! I can't thank you enough for that!!!

I loved this show when I was growing up...It encouraged kids to read...I don't know about you all, but I would get a book from the library just because it was mentioned in a Reading Rainbow episode, lol :)
@InvaderKiEMO Actually, it teaches kids why it is important to read. If SESAME STREET and THE ELECTRIC COMPANY (1971 - 1977) teaches kids HOW to read, then READING RAINBOW teaches kids WHY to read (and the importance of it).
OK.. so you got the CVL version. I've borrowed the GPN version (original). That one has the funding opening/closing credits. In my area CVL version is available for loan in one library district and GPN available in a different district.
@MattBL this is from my friend. Anyways the CVL is from the public library in the state of Oregon. the GPN is from a public library in state of washington.
Thumbs up if you thought LaVar's actual name was Reading Rainbow.

This episode did air often in the '80s and '90s. I'm not sure why the existence of this episode would have become a myth.
