  • Konami should leave the dance dance revolution games and come back to actual gaming...

  • Ahh memories :D

  • worst version of frogger next to the 5200 disaster.

  • I would rather play as a drunken lumber jack! lol

  • What is the thing poking out of the water at 4:43 ? That's not the otter...

  • Try Frogger: Hop To It! on the PC. Best. Frogger. Ever.

  • Now, I do wonder why the Sega SG-3000 seems to have not had a version of "Frogger". That was another powerful Pre-NES system.

  • frogger is the coolest frog ever, even though he is a ruh-tard and can't swim

  • OMg This vid has 32,125, and COLECOVISION controller has 32,127!

  • Starpath version of frogger for the 2600 is really good. The one fore the supercharger.

  • I have an emulator for this but I can't figure out how to start the game. The game is on the right screen but I hit every button and nothing happens. Does anyone know how to start the game on a pc emulator?

  • That's a much better port than the 2600 version I had as a kid. I now have an actual Frogger arcade machine, so this version looks fairly mundane in comparison. They cut out a row of cars, and the difficultly is scaled back quite a bit, but overall a good port.

  • you can download/play frogger here for free :p -> cpa(.)ly/xiU

  • I think the Colecovision probably had the best graphics out of all the pre NES consoles.

  • lol "hes a wuss frog"

  • just about any system was better then the Atari.

What about Mr Do on Colecovision? The Music was not right and Mr Do and the monsters were one color and the letter was just a letter had no mouth or eyes just 2 simplistic looking feet.

Donkey Kong was a typical poor home translation, it had only 3 boards that went in the same order over and over again and not cut scenes or how high can you get? screen.

The C64 and Atari 8-bit computers had the best versions until the Adam version cam out.

  • i agree..too many military-mutant-esq heroes.

    DRUNKEN LUMBERJACKS *hickup* GO!

  • Frogger never really appealed to me, but its definatly an arcade classic, no doubt.

  • technicaly frogger can be heroic road kill

  • Thanks a bunch for posting this review! I *did* have a Colecovision as a child, and, believe it or not, the Frogger song got stuck in my head today, so just had to look it up on the net: thus did I find your review. Thanks for the chuckles!!

  • Atari 2600 had two versions of Frogger.

Parker Bros. is the version everybody knows about. Typical 2600 conversion, not bad but not great.

Then there's the Official Frogger by Sega made for use with the Starpath (Arcadia) Supercharger on the 2600. Easily the best home version from that era.

Incredible graphics, eye popping colors, tons of music and game play that's tighter than the original arcade machine.

  • I saw your review of this game for Atari 2600 that version is crap compared to this one

  • Again, lots of Atarubashng from the intrnet's 2nd classic games reviews. Chceck out the 5200 frogger review on my channel. Also, tons of interviews with programmers, producers and a lot more.

  • @BiffsGamingVideos

"Atarubashng"? I'm pretty sure the 2600 is his favourite all-time console, so I'm really skeptical about your claim. Saying that one console happened to do this one game better than another isn't bashing, it's standing back from what you're saying and not being dominated by bias when reviewing. My favourite games ever are Fallout and Fallout2, but I can point out their flaws also... it doesn't mean I'm "Fallout bashing", it means I'm capable of nuance and objectivity.

  • @IgnatzKolisch his favorite console is the sega genesis.

  • @IgnatzKolisch indeed. it also isnt bashing because its personal preferences too, i prefere certain game versions over other versions of the same game too...but it isnt bashing, its just which one i like best. i dont hate the other one...i just like one better. and yeah i agree, it enables people to think better about what they are playing and whatnot

  • @IgnatzKolisch Well, actually, Mark's favorite game console is the Sega Genesis. However, you make a very sound point. If he was bashing Atari, then he wouldn't have all the reviews of Atari games (especially the 2600) that he does on his website. :)

  • Mark, I'm pursuing a career as a video game developer. If I go far enough, I will make a game where you can play as a lumberjack, just for you. :)

  • Mark, I'm currently pursuing a career as a video game developer, and if I go far enough, I will try to make a game where you can play as a drunken lumberjack, just for you. Who knows, I might even be able to make it for the Atari 2600 or Colecovision!!! :D

  • @IgnatzKolisch Biff is always an asshole to mark, because he claims he came first. its kind of a juvinile thing to flame his videos about

  • @IgnatzKolisch Very true. The NES is my all-time favorite. My favorite game ever is Super Mario Bros 3. It lacks a saving option (even though zelda came out a few years prior with that feature) which makes the game tedious and it blows having to go all the way back to the start of the world if you are new to the game or not that good and lose all your men. Every game has it's flaws. There is always room for improvement.

  • @IgnatzKolisch He said the Sega Genesis was his favorite console.

  • @IgnatzKolisch The sega genesis is his favorite. The 2600 was jsut his first, but he still has a lot of love for it.

  • remind me y there is a squirell at the beginning

  • Sega created frogger but it's a onest mistake:)

  • He made no mistake. He didn't say Konami created him, but developed of the game which is also true lol.

  • I never get tired of hearing that jingle at the beginning of every CGR: HD

  • Sierra used the same music in the C64 version of Frogger

  • still sweet game haha

  • What happened to Dave anyway?

  • wish the playstation had classic games like these...cant beleive the x box does them! amazing

  • i love frogger

  • thanks

  • I think the clecovision looks alot better than the atari and probally plays better too.

  • Lol...after watching this video again I remembered that you'd already said it had radiation in it lol...

  • The water has radiation in it..that's why it has a strange light blue color. Heh..

    I love ColecoVision!

  • iv got it for pc

  • same

  • One of my all time favorite reviews. Great job, Mark!

  • You got robbed at 4:43, Mark.

    (Neat review.)

  • How is Frogger a wuss-frog? He's a super fast dude in New International Track & Field!

  • He can't swim that's why! He dies in water, c'mon. haha

  • Technically, he can. The water in the original Frogger must be poisoned. XP

  • Oh the irony. Without water, frogs would dry up and die! lol

  • WOW, an arcade game on television

  • The blue tanks on 4:52 reminds me of the tanks in Super Battletank for GameBoy.

  • music is EPIC!

  • lol! 3:14 was pro

  • Game abour drunken lumberjack would be awesome!

  • That was a really pleasant review of Frogger. Thanks for giving such thoughtful time for a classic.

  • En Lima cuando voy a cruzar una pista, muchas veces me siento como la ranita del frogger :-)

  • "I'm a chimney sweep, gimme yer whisky!"

  • Wow, I never knew Konami made Frogger. That's a far cry from Metal Gear there.

  • Yrah. I didn't think snakes evolved from frogs.

  • Haha, how cunning of you. I didn't even think of the snake vs frog comparison.

  • Konami produced the original arcade version and released it in Japan; outside of Japan, the game was released by Sega. When Konami made inroads in the U.S. arcade market themselves ca. 1985, Sega's non-Japanese rights to this game lapsed.

  • I miss dave :(

  • Will a 1 Gb ATI video card run this game?

  • Maybe if you overclock it

  • review is not bad

but what's wrong with his voice?

he's drunk or really tired of playing games.

it doesn't make viewers excited :(

  • drunken lumberjack lol

  • there ia a namcomuseum for the n64 it had pac-man,ms.pac-man,did dug, pole position, galaga and galaxian could you review it for me

  • the sienfeld episode with george constanzer as the frogger nut was seriously funny

  • "Game Over, man.. game over.."

  • a game where you play as a drunken lumberjack would be awesome

  • There's a tank on the bottom row of cars, and I think a harvester......well that's the most bizarre thing in this game to notice *sarcasm*

    Awesome review as usual

  • The very best home version of frogger is on the 2600. Not the parker bros version you are all familiar with, no. The Official version of Frogger is by Starpath and comes on tape and loads into the super charger and is by far the best home version of Frogger and is very faithful to the arcade. Spot on graphics and sound, even better than the Colecovision.

  • What about the Genesis version?

  • mediocre, but the graphics are probably better on the Genesis. But I am talking about systems of it's time, not 15 years later.

  • Ohh. The Genesis version is a direct emulation of the arcade game. There is no difference whatsoever.

  • one difference is the music is more primitive, but no graphical difference since both were run on 16-bit processors

  • I really like the atari 8-bit version too. Very good conversion.

  • I never had Coleco, but my neighbor did. I had Intellivision, which was 16 bit believe it or not. My friend had the Sears Video Arcade, and the games were little 16 pin chips insead of cartridges.

  • Sears Video Arcade...isnt that just an Atari 2600 clone?

  • Yes, its a Sears branded Atari 2600.

  • And the Sears Super Video Arcade was a Sears-faced Intellivision.

  • I love frogger! : )

    Best atari tune ever!

  • I think there was a Frogger for GBA,if I'm not wrong

  • I agree, Grand Theft Auto is nothing compared to Frogger.

  • omg i had this on ps1 was my fave game

  • I had Frogger for the Playstation 1. I still play it today and it remains as one of my childhood favorites.

  • I love the Colecovision and you guys do awesome jobs at reviewing games. Keep up the entertaining reviews!

  • lol, about the heroes observations...

my personal favorite was an egg named dizzy on the C=64...

Any plans on reviewing any commodore systems ?

  • i have this game on playstation the first one its entertaining

  • I had one in the 80´s with lots of games.

A few years ago i bought one again with several games, the coleco vision ist very good.

  • Yeah I wish I had a Colecovision or known a little more about it when I was a wee kid. I thought I was the coolest just having a Atari 2600 then.

  • I am amazed at just how good this version of Frogger really is on the ColecoVision. It really does look and sound like it's arcade equivalent.

  • Yeah this is a very nice looking version. It's miles better than the Atari 2600 version I primarily played. Cheers for Frogger!!!

  • I just went to an arcade today, there was a old retro frogger machine, and when I started to play it, I noticed that the theme sounded exactly the same as the colecovision version

  • @resettimanalt Coleco really went all out to make their games as faithful as possible. They knew they couldn't beat the atari's popularity without some sort of edge and it resulted in (in my opinion) the best console of it's day. The atari adaptor is icing on the cake. You can get the colecovision with the adapter for cheap as well as all the games which are generally marked under a dollar each.

  • I always considered this version the best home version of Frogger there is, the music and general "feel" of the game never got duplicated or topped. It's not quite the same thing as the arcade game (missing the extra music tracks for one) but it's a great port and the difficulty ramping up was better. The XBL version and other modern releases have better graphics but lack this particular music track, I hate that. I wonder if Sega redid the music so Konami has to use something else in re-releases

  • The "diving turtles" always owned me.

  • LMFAO!!!

Dude., I always come away with spitting beer all over my monitor., another stellar review!!

  • The sound... IT'S POKEMON!

    No am jokeing

    Sweet vid.

  • In these old video games people always die in such a horrible ways!

  • i think that blue vehicle on the bottom road is actually a robotic anteater tank hybrid(second prototype of course)

  • Damn, I never realized the strange logic of this game. Frogs as big as cars and water that kills frogs...?

This game was always too good to see this. It doesn't give you time to think.

  • Interesting fact: Did you know there's THREE completely different games that call themselves "Frogger 2"?

  • Any of them as good as the original?

  • Not really no, all but one change the type of game completely, so you would barely know it was a Frogger game.

  • one of the best arcade classics

  • Frogger is awesome. I have a copy for the 2600, but it's a little defective, and sometimes, it just crashes at random, or when I bump my atari. And I thought Sega was the one who made frogger... It says Sega on my cartridge

  • Sega licensed it for North America from Konami. Sega/Gremlin made all the arcade machines for North America and they say SEGA on the machines but Konami on the screen copyright.

  • FROGERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!! *awkward silence* :D

  • I've been wanting to know what Dave is up to these days... anyone have a clue?

You know, Dave from the original Classic Game Room?

  • watch?v=_xnovjxCg90

  • The white cars in the first lane of traffic remind me of some sort of Wind Squid...

  • I really like the music in this game.

  • Mark, you have to try this out. The Atari 2600 and Sega Genesis controllers are compatible with the ColecoVision.

  • It really does help in avoiding the controller that the system came with. (Although I don't have the ColecoVision)

  • Yeah, it's one of the worst.

  • Yes, but the Atari 2600 and Genesis controllers do not have keypads.

  • You don't need to use the keypad for the actual game do you? Just to pick how many players. At least, that's how it is for the Donkey Kong port.

  • When I was a young teenager, my neigbors gave me their old Coleco because I loved this game so much. I played the shit out of that game while all my friends were playing Doom and such. I guess I will forever be a retro gamer...since NOW I'm playing doom and such. But I will always enjoy frogger and Donkey Kong, my biggest regret in life was selling my Coleco.

  • the comb-cars look like Wind Squid Tanks! woop woop!

  • Hell, yeah! I should have read the comments before I posted my thoughts.

  • guess what? yesterday, i got a Model 1 Genesis w/ one 3-button controller, and I got the original Mortal Kombat, CASED, AND INSTRUCTIONS.

  • I love that music!

  • i love these old school reviews you do

there the reason i started watchin ;)

  • great game, great system, great review!

    thanks for posting Mark.

  • Have you tried "frogger 3D"?

  • Reminded me of that seinfiel episode...

  • Review more Genesis/MegaDrive and Sega/Mega CD games pleeeeeeeaaase!!

  • Wow i had Fogger for the PS1

  • I believe the Colecovision sound hardware as the Sega Master System (or very similar), so you can see why the sound quality on the CV was very good. This is probably the best port of Frogger, in my opinion. The 5200 version is great, except the 5200 controllers make the gameplay a pain.

    Oh, and FROGGGER!!!!!!

  • There needs to be a Frogger movie.

I'm also surprised that there wasn't a Mystery Science Theater 3000 reference.

    "Watch out for snakes!"

  • Frogger Movie hmmm sounds good. Hope they don't use the same director as Transformers ugh...

  • That would make it even funnier.

  • please review more PSX games, please!!!!

  • Frogger was my first game :)

  • Yay, Frogger! :D

  • Yay Frogger!

  • You know, I have never got around to asking, whats the intro song?

  • Awesome stuff!

  • well Mark if you think every game hero is a badass than you haven't played Little Big Planet's hero Sackboy/Sackgirl a perfect in body ment of classic games we're anything could be the hero of the game

  • Have you played any real classic games? LBP is just an ok game at best.

  • well i played Rampage , Spy Hunter , Super Mario World , Castle Vania 4 & Donky Kong Contrie 1 & 2 & Mortal Kombat 3 or it was 2 but i ment it in bodies how the heroes of classic games we're from frogs to monkeys to even a plumber and that's Sackboy/Sackgirl there not the average heroes there sack puppets

  • Aw. Ok I see what you mean.

  • yeah that's what i'm saying

  • Yeah. I get it.

  • Go Frogger, Go! Another Frogger review bit the dust.

  • am i...really first?O: bless wind squid ^-^

(probably when i finish this comment there will be alot more comments anyway)

    will u review the ps1 frogger too?its +/- a classic now :D

  • I was going to say 3rd comment and some other stuff, but I don't see my comment here.

  • awesome review. now please do a review on the game cube controller!!!

  • Fun game. I've played the 2600 version before I believe.

  • funny thing about the pancake hero. There is a game like that. It was a First Person shooter made advertised by Eggo waffles. You are a super armor waffle destroying alien slime. It was awesome!!!!

  • kool!!
