  • The Death of Dan Turpin was the first really evil event in the history of comic book cartoons! I was amazed that they showed him being vaporized on a cartoon, with a funeral to follow.

  • *raises glass* To Turpin!

  • man this was such a great show

  • Darkseid definitely needs to be in an upcoming Superman film. It would be a nice change of pace from the other Superman movies.

  • Luther: Just watch me give a fuck.

  • Are we sure Turpin is dead? Maybe Darkseid just teleported him.

  • @Inkan1969 Oh he's dead. Darkseid is the only one who can bring Turpin back! When Darkseid fires the Omega Beam, from his eyes it is either a concussive force or disintegrating energy, that transmutes (change) or erases living objects or organisms from existence or brings them back to life. He uses it with pinpoint accuracy, and bends it like in the clip or can shoot it straight even through matter or other material.

  • Why didn't superman just turn back time and save him?

  • Anyone know the music that starts up at "Goodbye old friend..." Been looking for ages.

  • dan turpin was joe as shit in this episode.

  • I bet the writers wondered "How do we make Darkseid/darkside terrifying to the audience." Then someone answered "Well, he will just break the first rule of cartoons and kill and important character on screen." and that's how this happened

  • Jack Kirby. Long live the King. That's damn right.

  • That guy in blue was so annoying. Good thing he got omega blasted.

  • why was Darkseid spelled like that and not Darkside? just wondered.

  • @erzan If memory serves there was already a character (Marvel perhaps) called Darkside.

  • @idgarad nope. don't think so.

  • Michael Ironside as the voice of Darkseid = EPIC

  • Darkseid was really awesome in this awesome serie!

  • This reminds me of my all time favorite Superman related quote:

"Gods achieve their power by encouraging us to believe in them. Superman achieves his power by believing in us."

    -Mark Waid

  • victory has a price- I like that-nothing is gain without some lost.

  • This is soooooooo American it hurts. Damn Yankees!!!

  • 4:04

Superman is hitting that pussy good.

  • dumb cop should have dodged like batman or escaped like luthor

  • I wish they showed the full ending . When all the Marvel characters, and Stan Lee, are attending the funeral. I thought it was awesome!

  • GOD DAMMIT DARKSEID! I HATE YOU! I HATE YOU!

    IIII HAAATE YOUUUU!

  • Man, even Darkseid hates the Jews. Can't they ever catch a break?

  • @Kev95682 That just wrong.... lol

  • Comment removed

  • who were the people who came in the warp holes?

  • @jshawn777: The people that Apoklips is with war at, from New Genesis.

  • Wow...I'm surprised they got away with this stuff on a kids show!!!

I mean a lesbian couple, violence showing blood and the actually showing of a death!!!

    Those were the days!!!

  • WHY DOES EVERYTHING SUPERHERO END AT A CEMETERY?!

    lol

  • What I hate most about this scene is the fact that Darkseid does even worse to Turpin in the comics. In the comics during the Final Crisis, he actually turns Terrible Turpin into his host.

  • HULK.... I MEAN...SUPERMAN SMASH!!

  • Think anyone thought " I wonder where Clark Kent is? "

  • I just love the look on Darkseid's face when Turpin pretty much tells him to go fuck himself!

  • I bet Darkseid's wondering: "Who the fuck was that asshole in the suit?"

  • This is 1 crazy episode.. Darkseid is soo soo cold and disrespectful looks like he had get the last words..

  • Orion Orion The Epic héro

  • I love the sadistic emphasis on 'price' when Darkseid says it.

  • i find it funny how easily Superman beats Darkseid's son (i forget his name) everytime they fight

  • @milestone380 The name is Kalibak

  • "Daniel Turpin Earths Greatest Hero"

  • so darkseid stands no chance against new genisis?

  • @packaderm135 Probably not, but its assumed he and High Father are equals and he dosent want to face him unless he KNOWS he can win.

  • Clark Kent didn't even show up for the funeral? What a jerk!

  • @TubularMonkey XD LMAO !!!!

  • "jeez is he crazy?"

    "yeah"

    xD

  • one man dies and the whole crowd boils down to a silence hahahahahahaha darkseid

  • this is sparta 1:26

  • wow...powerful....

  • 3:34 Now we all saw that coming. Assholes always have the last word. xD

  • Darkseid - the one supervillain that can make me take Superman seriously.

  • @whotookCheesusChrist Lex Luthor, Brainiac, the Cyborg (Superman), Doomsday, Parasite, etc. etc. the list goes on. IMO Superman's villains are the 3rd best in comics, following Batman's and Spider-Man's.

  • @SolidThugKnuckles I will admit that I haven't read many Superman-comics (only one, actually, and that was so über-american and childish that it just sickened me), but still, I just can't take someone who's that flawless all too seriously (though I am getting a bit tired of the antihero-trend where the only heroes who get attention are those who have mental issues). The DCAU-guys did a pretty good job portraying the Superman-universe decently, but I don't want to explore that world much further.

  • @whotookCheesusChrist Well, the whole "uber-American" thing is part of Superman's character; he's generally considered to be an embodiment of American ideals (not pushing American propaganda), much like Captain America is. It's been toned down a lot, as with this day and age, the preference is to be more universal to a worldwide audience. As for Supes being flawless, a lot of good stories revolve around that: Kingdom Come, Superman: Red Son (what if Superman was born in the USSR?)....continued

  • @whotookCheesusChrist *continued* Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow?, Superman: Secret Identity, The Death and Return of Superman, the Golden Age era of Superman comics, John Byrne's Man of Steel miniseries which revamped the Superman comics, Speeding Bullets, All-Star Superman, and my personal favorite, the Alan Moore story "For the Man Who Has Everything" (Justice League Unlimited had an episode based on this). Just a couple suggestions if you want to read some good Superman stories.

  • @SolidThugKnuckles Like I said, I've only read one Superman-comic so I'm really not the right one to judge, but in all honesty I can't imagine that I'm missing that much seeing as Superman is the american equivalent of Hercules. And I am NOT a citizen of the USA!

But I think Darkseid seems really interesting, and the battle between him and Superman seems somewhat interesting too.

  • r i p dan turbin

  • After all these years watching this STILL gives me chills. Moments like these remind me just how lucky kids were to grow up with 90s TV shows

  • @JGT021 well dont forget batman tas..the best there is :P

  • @nemurad VERY true. Batman: TAS is probably my favorite show, animated or live action.

  • "good bye old friend..... in the end, the world really didnt need a Superman.... just a brave one"

    words to live by

  • @emmagio56

    Amen to that, mate.

  • @emmagio56 or a cocky american,...

  • "Savor your moment of triumph Superman. But remember, victory has its price."

  • michael ironside just has that voice down.....and the thing is if they ever use darkseid in a live action movie....he would also be perfect for that

  • Turpin deserved it, he was talking too much! Annoying!

  • @hollypower2 Turpin vas brave but stupid

  • Un judio ayudo a superman sin cobrar dinero ???????

  • i like this sad part at the end it shows everyone that in the world theres a superman in each and everyone of us wat that cop did was the bravest thing he ever did on that ep

  • When I first saw this as a kid I was so used to people being zapped to another dimension so thats what i thought happened. Then they said he straight out obliterated turpin and as a kid i was like Damn this show does sugarcoat things at all O.O truly a great series

  • Jack Kirby would be proud of Dan Turpin.

  • lol an invading army rolls into town but there is only one death and everyone is so horrified at it.

  • 1:47 - Classic Superhero pose.

  • Zack Synder, I hope you will watch this .

  • @ Mohi212, agree entirely. This is such an epic ending. Would that all the new movies would take note of how epic this pathos is & run with it to create a good superhero action movie that can grip you like this.

  • Okay, I know Turpin is a badass, but come on, Darkseid was leaving, and he should have quit while he was ahead.

  • Does anyone know the piece of music at the end? From about 5:05 to 5"44? Would be much appreciated.

  • Holy Crap, Blood? In a children's show? What is this magnificence that is the DCAU?

  • Darkseid.

    What a magnificent dick.

  • the greatest series ever

  • great show... for the oldschoolers, this show has been made with the sprit of batman the animated series.... DC must made more of this.... A watchmen show would be great, better than snyder's movie

  • "Note to self, berating the invincible alien overlord is unwise."

I guess it applies to this Michael Ironside character too.

  • @2:14...

    CARRIER HAS ARRIVED!!

  • Darkseid was voice my michael ironseid LOL.

  • @mohawkny115 If Darkseid possesses General Lane in Smallville it would be so appropriate.

  • Turpin talked too much shit to Darkseid, shoulda quit while he was ahead lol

  • "Cherish your moment of victory Superman, but remember, victory has it's price..."

  • Turpin was a badass.

    For a Jew.

  • just seen the new short anime superman/shazam:return of black adam.whaooooo that was just awesome

  • I thought the Omega Sanction couldn't actually kill you? Batman got hit by it, and just got knocked through time.

  • @moriya2k2 It can also set you in a endless cycle of horrible realities, each worse than the last.

  • @moriya2k2, There's the omega sanctions and the omega beams. The Omega sanctions just removes you from Darkseid's presence. Where it takes you is up to Darkseid, the Omega beams are a blast of pure energy that are stronger than Superman's heat vision.

  • @moriya2k2 The Omega Sanction does whatever Darkseid wishes it to do. Why he decided to send Batman back in time rather than kill him is confusing, but I'm not complaining lmao :P

  • Why is superman Flying so slowly when he says 'Murderer!"

  • @TheSpiderByte Cause this was limited budget, early ninties animation.

  • @Mveculous

I mean, its that, when he took off, he was flying at a completely different speed then when it panned to him approaching Darkseid.

  • @TheSpiderByte Discrepancy in the animation. Either mistakenly or on purpose for dramatic effect.

  • one of the world's greatest speeches by Darkseid here.

  • i remember this when i was kid. so sad how darkside just killed Turpin like that. so cowardly. also, i didn't like that they took out Stan Lee and the marvel character references from the DVD. I never got a chance to aknowlegde it!

  • H reminds me of Apocalypse from X Men

  • darkseid would be a perfect villain to go against superman in a movie

  • Even Darkseid hates the Jews can they ever catch a break ?

  • @bartov Being hated by Darkseid is the biggest complement ever. Another hero. Just like the two hero's who created the story of Superman. Guess what they were?

  • @budlives Kal-El the Kryptonian name of Superman is suppose to resemble a Hebrew word that means "Voice of God". Maybe he should go by Supermensch instead of Superman ?

  • @bartov maybe. Hey wait a minute, that sounds german!!! help!

  • @bartov the jews have their superman and he is coming soon

    HIs NAME IS JESUS CHRIST

  • @Adonimtg

I heard Luke Cage converted to Judaism and switched his catchphrase to "Sweet Hanukkah". I would rather have a Hero for Hire then some guy that was portrayed by Willem Dafoe in a Martin Scorsese film.

  • @bartov sorry buddy if you thing the green goblin playing the

son of God in a movie is at all anything like the bible you are being irrational.

Hollywood changes everything. anyway Jesus is the messiah the son of God the savior of the world the judge of the living and the dead. The one true super hero. read the bible for yourself

  • @Adonimtg Last Temptation of Christ was a great movie way more entertaining then the bible. Can't we all agree that Superman is just as real as this Jesus guy. Besides everyone knows Deadpool died for our sins so we could eat chimichangas and break the 4th wall in the 616 Universe. Blessed is the Squirrel Girl for she beat Doctor Doom and it was so totally cannon. Amen.

  • @bartov The bible is BY FAR the #1 best selling and most read book in the history of the world and has changed the lives of billions of people around the world to know who God really is and what he wants from us, for thousands of years. The comics borrow so much from the bible you probably dont even realize. that movie is not an accurate representation of what is actually written in the book. deadpool cant save you from hell only JESUS can. sorry this is not your own comic book. Its GOD's

  • @Adonimtg Are you seriously trying to convert me via youtube ? Maybe you can try again when I make some asinine comment about another show from my childhood. I am kinda of curious about the theme song from Eerie, Indiana or the Big Lebowski reference from the Powerpuff Girls try preaching there.

  • @bartov Sorry bartov i wont always be around to correct you. but dont worry thats why God's truth exists (THE BIBLE) and will be available for you when you are ready to admit that you dont have all the answers but God does. bar means son in aramiac, and tov means good in hebrew. Be a good son and read for yourself what your father GOD has revealed to you about how you can be saved through faith in Jesus Christ The Messiah. A REAL SUPERMAN Savior of those destined for ETERNAL DESTRUCTION

  • @Adonimtg i hate to argue against you. because im a passionate christian..but the christianity isn't even the largest religion in america. so to say that it is "BY FAR" the #1 selling and most read book in history is blasphemy. i wish it was true because i feel that it would end alot of world conflict but muslims outnumber all when it comes to that department.

  • @8trioblack I know I'm a little late, but I think this should be said. I'm Christian too, and I'm pretty sure it's the largest religion in the world. At the very least it's the largest in the America by far. We far surpass them in America. Why do you think there's always a big controversy at 9/11? As many people that turned against the religion was a large percent of the U.S. There are far more churches and our country was based off of Christian beliefs.

  • @8trioblack where do you get your figures? There are approx 2.1 Billion Christians in the world. 1.5 billion Muslims. In the USA Christianity is practiced by 76% of the population..making it obviously the #1 religion in the US.

  • @8trioblack suck a oil dick you bastard

  • @bartov wtf damm americans are sick in the head

  • who would be the marvel equivalent of darkseid? i think its galactus is that right?

  • @ilikescsa2004 I'd say Thanos.

  • @ilikescsa2004

By personality, I have to say Thanos. Galactus is actually very fair and non-violent. All he is is just hungry and rather not fight an unnecessary battle which he KNOWS he can win. I am not calling him weak, but he is not a dictator. Thanos is a conqueror as well as a destroyer of worlds with an everlasting and seemingly improbable ambition: To please Lady Death. Darksied's ambition is just as equally improbable: Obtaining the Anti-Life Equation. Galactus only hungers.

  • If Michael Ironside woulda did the Apocalypse movie it would have been that much more fitting

  • @BEASTIE4RMDAB

Darksied is the most powerful and dangerous enemies that Clark/Superman has ever faced. Time and time again has he fought Darksied only to lose several battles but manage to win a war by luck. I think this is the perfect saga for the last season! Although, I am a little worried. Clark barely took on Doomsday and managed to bury him deep beneath the Earth in some construction site and he is not even fully powered. So how will he take on Darksied who has the Omega Force?

  • @leadeye2 Im just sick of them suping Darkseid up and toning Superman down, they do it every time they do something new with these 2 and Superman is left to struggle. Which is good cuz other than Doomsday and Metallo not many really trashes him like this but still. I would say the Superman vs Darkseid fight in the JL ep "Twilight" would be the most accurate to their strength. Now Darkseid keeps coming back like he's Brainiac lol

  • @orochikaiba

LOL True. Darksied does return constantly. But that is because with the Omega Force inside of him (Also the reason why he has blue-ish gray skin) grants him immortality. As far as DC recorded Darksied's life, he has lived for almost 300,000 years conquering planets. And even then does he have the Omega Force inside of him. Say, if Darksied is now on Smallville, does that mean the key to the Anti-Life Equation is on Earth? That is all the guy needs to become a complete God.

  • @BEASTIE4RMDAB I don't think it makes him the world's greatest hero. But it makes him the man with the biggest balls on the world.

  • man this show along with the old batman cartoons back on WB were the shit!

  • I would have done the same to Turpin Darkseid knows how to gtfo with style

  • "Dan Turpin: Earth's Greatest Hero" Give me a break, what was the big deal with this guy that Superman was so pissed when Darkseid killed him? There are around a thousand guys who are more significant that Turpin, including Superman.

  • Comment removed

  • @Mazmorrero2 You're kidding right? The guy stood up to friggin' DARKSEID when no-one else would, knowing full well he could be killed in the blink of an eye. THAT takes guts.

Oh and Supes kinda considered him a friend and ally.

  • @Clifftothemax If Orion is Darkseid's biological son, then why doesn't he have a stoney face and can't throw the omega rays?

  • @Mazmorrero2 Well, lets put it this way, Kalibak is also Darkseid's biological son and doesn't possess those traits either. Steppenwolf is Darkseid's uncle and also does not have such features. Basically, the stone-like face and Omega Beams are unique to Darkseid.

However, if you look at their designs, Kalibak and Orion both do have certain facial features similar to Darkseid's.

  • @Clifftothemax Thanks for the info. I've always been bad for family ties, even with my own.

  • @Mazmorrero2

Darkside use to have white skin but ever since he inherited (or stole) the Omega Force from his belated brother, it was absorbed into him. The Omega power altered his body, making his skin gray, building up his muscles, granting him immortality, have a high process thinking capability, infusing him with the Omega Force Energy which he can use to torture, kill, transport, levitate and perhaps a few more things against his enemies by sheer will. He can even control the direction too.

  • @leadeye2 outside of the omega force, gray skin and muscles he already had the other insane powers and immortality, without the force he and his brother would have been the same as yugga kahn.

  • @Clifftothemax Ok, Turpin had balls. But in the end of the day he didn't stop Darkseid, he just showed he's brave. But that doesn't make him "The World's Greatest Hero".

  • @Mazmorrero2 Considering the circumstances, he wasn't exactly unworthy of that title either though.

  • @Clifftothemax He could have been worthy of the title if he kicked Darkseid's ass. But Darkseid retired from Earth only because Orion arrived, not because of Turpin's bravery. Actually, Darkseid killing Turpin was a way of saying "I may retreat, but I can kick your ass anytime".

  • @Mazmorrero2

Dan Turpin is actually a major character in Superman comic books. He was there when Superman fought Doomsday. With his police squad they fired everything they got with little effect at the monster. The point is, Dan Turpin is the kind of human whom Superman admires. A very tough New Yorker that doesn't care how strong the enemy is, he will never go down without a fight. He represents one of the best of humanity. Also, Jack Kirby made him based off himself. R.I.P. Jack Kirby.

  • I think this was the first episode to show a character killed and not just passing out or hit unconcious.

"Savor your moment of triump Superman...But remember, victory has its price..." Great line, but that was just pure evil"

    "MURDERER!"

  • All Darkseid is missing in this scene is a nice couch to sit on.

  • wat kind of music is that playing @04:37 its very soothing

  • Darkseid hates Jews?

  • @erzan Hitlerseid?

  • @DarthTypho

That man with the helmet is Orion from Planet New Genesis. He is Darksied's biological son. Trust me... If Superman were to fight Darksied at THAT time, he WILL lose because he isn't ready for a villain like that yet. He hardly knows Darksied enough to realize what danger the dictator can bring on him: Mentally, Spiritually, Physically and Emotionally.

  • @leadeye2 Orion isn't Darkseid's biological son. He was traded for Darkseid's original son in a peace trade with Orion's original planet kings, which were his real parents.

  • @Mazmorrero2 Wow. Someone doesn't know their comics. Actually yes, Orion IS Darkseid's biological son. He was given to Highfather as part of the peace trade, whilst Darkseid received Scott Free/Mr. Miracle (who escaped and went back to his biological father's side).

  • @Mazmorrero2

I got the comic book called "Kingdom Come" which shows characters about 30 years into the future. Orion took Darksied's place after the tyrant was defeated. He and Superman even comment about the biological relationship between Orion and Darksied. By the way, if you saw what Orion looked later in the future, he physically LOOKED like Darksied to a point that it made Orion depressed. Also despite everything, he couldn't change the lifestyle of planet Apocalypse.

  • @leadeye2 Weird, I also read Kingdom Come and I don't remember that. Wasn't it the story when nobody loves Superman because he doesn't like to kill, Captain Marvel gets brainwashed by Lex Luthor to kill Sups and an evil guy gets loved by everyone because he was brave enough to kill the Joker?

  • @Mazmorrero2

Yup that is the very same comic book. The relations is weird but if you make a family tree, you can find that Orion is Darksied's son. It was already foretold that Darksied will be over thrown and Orion will take over, how ever it wasn't in a way that even Orion expected. Poor Guy. :( Dude became exactly the opposite that wanted to be.

  • People who will be making future Superman movie, ..this is the clip they should all see. It's amazing a kids cartoon can achieve this when movies cannot . And thumbs up if you agree this clip of almost 6 minutes is superior than 154 minutes of Superman Returns .

  • @Mohi212 This is a awesome clip but SR was trying to prove that superhero films don't need a whole bunch of violence

  • @matthedges28, And that's why Superman returns FAILED!

  • @Mohi212 you on crack bro superman returns was an excellet movie it got 4 stars

  • @Mohi212 i couldnt have put it better my self....the cartoon series was far superior than any attempts they have done...film producers should take serious note

  • @auw116 That's because there were geniuses working on the DCAU.

  • @Mohi212 Returns had shades of this. Just not enough. And that was the biggest problem of the production. Too much baby drama and not enough Superman being Superman.

  • @Mveculous

yeah. being a superman fan, i dont like to critcize anything of his, honestly. but there should have been some fist fight action with the big blue and someone else. But Superman Returns seemed more of a tribute to the first Superman film .

  • @Mohi212 The first Superman film had no fights yet I liked it the most out of all the films.

  • do u know the translation to english when the rabbi prays in hebrew? or perhaps where i can find a translation? thanks man

  • This is possibly the most saddest episode ever. Not only is it about Turpin's death but it's also a dedication to Jack Kirby, who is known by people for creating many famous comic heroes such as Fantastic Four, the Hulk, you know. It's amazing they did this in dedication to him.Long rest in peace Kirby
