I really don't like SOC without mod, it's really bad game for me - and is not due to the fact that this game had to be better. For example I really like play Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat without mods and this games are more different of my "Dream" than SOC. I hope you understand me. :)

@kovek i did not liked it to much myself, and i think that the reason is that tecnologies were a little more raw at the time and the soryline guys needed to create a new story and these factors and many more kinda degraded the game for me but i should state that anyone who did not try stalker clear sky or stalker call of pripyat and pre judjed the games by the release date/ grafics is in fact a dushe, and any stalker who respect's himself, would try at least 2 games of the series so try them!

i also was a little disappointed when it came out. they cut the feature to drive cars. but some populair mods (oblivion lost, AMK, priboi story, arsenal, build 1935, etc.) bring these cool features back in the game PLUS alot more.

Lost Alpha will pwn all other mod makers. It will raise the bar for mods, in my opinion.

It restores all old levels which is so awesome.

And yes, I can see what you are feeling. Especially after a long wait. But you must know that SoC still has a great atmosphere and a great game in my opinion.

Still, I can see your disappointment. I was younger than you so I hardly heard about the game. I still think it is one of my favourites, but probably because I did not have the same expectations as you.

btw, good video. Like I said in my comment, the music is good and should have been in the game. Maybe in your STALKER 2?

This game was a disappointment when I first bought it as well. However, I do believe that some of the new projects will bring back the true atmospheric and deep realism of stalker back how it should of been.

The old version of stalker "Oblivion Lost" Is being completed. On moddb it's called "Lost alpha" And It will be completing everything that was left off.

No, lost Alpha is a Mod for SoC that TRY´s to bring back the old Stalker.

But they´re not able to bring ALL old stuff back,

2 Examples

Physic=Partial cuz not all parts are implemented in Final Engine

Alife=Partial cuz of restricted spawn and gulags in Final

But Lost Alpha brings you VERY VERY Close to the Atmo of OL.

Damn that it´s W.I.P and come´s out end of 09 or early 2010.

@Winxp500 ObLost makes the game too hard and doesn't bring back ANY levels,and doesn't even modify them.

Lost Alpha will do what wasn't possible when Kanyhalos did ObLost. Or, Kanyhalos didn't want to put that much work into doing old levels.

Lost Alpha also does a new story.

I remember hearing it was Oblivion Lost, and that THQ wanted them to change it so that people would know it's set in Chernobyl.

THQ also rushed GSC, so I think thats why some levels were cut :( THQ fails.

I couldnt agree with you more on your description. When I first read about S.T.A.L.K.E.R. years ago, I shat a brick. I had a real obsession with the Chernobyl incident as a kid, and have always loved wasteland-esque survival novels and games. So reading the synopsis was like a dream come true. Shame it didn't pan out anything like it promised. The developers were too inexperienced to take on a project that ambitious. Still, I love the shit out of what they did. Maybe Stalker 2 will be better :)

In my opinion ragdoll in old stalker is really better and more realistic than this in oryginal "gold" stalker. Check out alpha 1935 or my other videos- there are phycics the same like in this video.

The ragdolls in 1935 have more friction than in the final build wich causes them to roll down a hill instead of sliding down and they also have the fall on knees then die semi-animation.
