Miss Bud always used Rolls Royce/Merlin engines from 1966 until 1980 or 81 when they went to the Rolls Griffon which is a larger and more powerful engine than the Merlin.
I believe the Bud always had a Rolls Griffon engine. Definitely not an Allison, at least; they're quieter than the one in the video. And it turns a prop. One of the few rules of Unlimited Hydros is that all boats must be propeller-driven.

In reality, this boat never was a Miss Budweiser, it was a homebuilt boat called "Tempus" built by Chuck Hickling.
