The line after "neon clean and phenom jeans", is "little rap isaac asimov" author of the epic sci-fi trilogy "Foundation" and the novel "I Robot" among others.
This video only has a little above 400.000 views and that trash know as lil wayne gets 20 mil in one week, what world do we live in? But, i guess that's how it is, people take flashiness over quality! Lupe you're the man! Keep buzzin'
VOTE UP IF YOU'RE FROM THE NORTHEAST- I'm from the city in the northeast most beast city in the whole wide world! (say it now!) I'm from the city in the northeast most beast city in the whole wide world (say it now!) I'm from the most beast city in the whole wide world (hey!) City in the whole wide world ( hey!) City in the whole wide world (hey)
In the second verse where it says "Put some lain on the floor blame it on the goat"
I think it should be "Plus im layin on the floor, blame it on the go" because in the line before that he's talking about a bearskin rug and they usually lay on the floor. As for blame it on the go I think hes talking about blaming his rap style/flow on chica"go" since thats where he was brought up.
@QuestInDaHouse I wasn't talking about this song, actually I think this is one of his worse for lyricism. I'm talking his other stuff, like failure. I don't like Pac
I from the North East city. Best city in the whole wide world!!. But honestly like Lupe fiasco song :) # 1 favorite rapper. ( to bad he not from New York)
@TheSaplingbuddha how I interpret LUPE's lyrics (I don't know who drake is) is that he is referring to a gas tank and nothing to do with Ecstasy. You know when the tank is full of gas full and when it is empty "it's on E" that is a common American phrase. This seems to make better sense to me then saying someones tank is on Ecstasy and his tank is full..full of what?
@naruto1993max Again you offer no explanation so I'm going to brand you as a hater. I'll give reasons for why your previous statement is false. One Lupe is in a lueage by himself in terms of lyrical ability. Songs like The cool, Dumb it down, Little weapon, gold watch, and his verse on Paris tokyo remix prove it, I could go on. Second his music is inspiring, and comes with a positive message and is great to listen to. Not many rappers can say they do all three.
So while listening to some old joints,I found out that soundtrakk sampled the drums and snares in this track as well.Go look up a song called "hey papi" by Jay-Z.It's sample-able towards the end but you can hear the drums/snares through the whole song.
In the first verse, it's "on the board soundtrack" not "on the ball soundtrack" !
Lupe refers to older computers that don't have a dedicated soundcard and so have to use the generally inferior on board sound, it's basically just a throwback to the "good ol' days" of gaming like Sega Genesis and 16-bit games !
Other than that, the lyrics seem pretty spot on, good job, thanks for the upload (although I of course own all of Lupe's albums ^^)
@AU10SAX96FAN Umm lol Illinois is considered Midwest. And you may wanna recheck I do think Utah and Colorado is considered "The Rockies" everything past that would be considered West coast.
@QuiteDefinitelyMaybe Really? Repeating "go go go go go go go go go gadget flow" 12 times makes him a great lyricist? Damn this generation is brainwashed...
most rap sucks donkey dick. but artists like ol Lupe here give the genre a good name. no one gives a shit about an over privileged, retarded ass, conceited rap "artists" talking about how much money or clothes or cars he has or how "icy" or "gangster" he thinks he is. that shit is stupid and pathetic. talking about life or real shit is where it's at, not this trivial materialistic bullshit rap fags like lil wayne or gucci woman do. say what you want, you know i'm right.
Another great song from Lupe, and just to clear some of the lyrics up a little, here is the correct version of the last lines of every verse:
". . . from the M-A-D-I to the S to the O-N,
potent, so get your oak pen,
move like a ni**a supposed to,
to get the dough in the 'go
with the flow that I'm holding."
The whole part is from an old Lupe mixtape song called "Don't get it twisted", the "get the dough in the 'go" part means that everybody needs to respect Chicago (= 'go) for its good rappers.
One of the most riveting artist known to the game today, to me he is the best lyracist today, ive listened to him forever noww!
But hey i know everyone reads this shit all the time and just passes by it but please check out my music. Ever since i was a young kid ive loved to rap so check me out!
@mazrahlover24 You sure? "We will never ride dubs again so we walk/Trying to get above the rim." He's tryin to elevate your mind. Nothings off. You should read his lyrics, that's what I have to do to understand him somtimes
@mazrahlover24 Did you take time to listen to and analyze the lyrics, cause it's not like listening to a LIL wayne song where your just listening for the punch line. @bigblackracoon idk about you but Lupe is a supporter of anarchy......just look at his new album cover....and check out the part in this song where he says "I'm at where I'm at like an a in a circle"....I mean he's a brilliant rapper but why is he in support of anarchy if he's supposedly in support of oppressed people???
@joebuddens1987 How does he support Anarchy!? You mean that A across the O in Lasers? He explained the reason Behind that in an Interview and it's brilliant. Lasers is an Acronym for Love,Always, Shines,Evertime, Remember 2, Smile. What I get from his songs are that he wants us to be more aware of what's happening around us, things our government is doing, problems in the world, and to also show that hip hop is not all about money ,cars and gangs. It can be used to reach people.
@bigblackracoon I didn't see the interview....send me the link and I will check it out. But the red A inside the circle is the symbol for Anarchy. google pictures of him with 'Anarchy' written over his hat and shirts. There is one pic of him and bun b on tumblr and he has a black anarchy hat.
@bigblackracoon And I agree with you that there are many problems that need to be fixed within our gov....I don't think you will find too many people who will argue with you on that point.. And don't get me wrong, I support artists who like to send positive messages and make people aware of certain situations but I just find it weird that he seemingly supports Anarchy.
@joebuddens1987 Well I don't understand why you would think that, but I don't think he's talking about Anarchy I think he wants people to speak up, and take a stand. The Government will continue with there fucked up ways and American society will continue to de-evolve, until we as a nation come together and say something. Sure there's like maybe a couple of protesters speaking on behalf of us, but just inmagine if we as Americans came together like blacks did during Jim Crowism!
@joebuddens1987 I think you've miscomprehended the bar. The "a in a circle" has no affiliation with anarchy at all. The "a in a circle" is the "at" symbol as in "@".
