im sorry but, CAN I SE SOME BLACK PEOPLE DOING THE THINGS OF THEIR CULTURE!! im sorry but it's just more authentic i can feel like im listening to someone who actually "knows" HIS instrument. everytime i type in something dealing with african culture a white guy pops up: the lute, drums, the kora, even dreadlocks! whats up with that? am sure u guys have at least a lil bit of culture. i think we "blacks" need to start embracing or roots moor (pun intended)
you can sit at either side of the instrument, it depends on whether you're left or right handed. and you can plainly see at the end of the video that he has proper mallets, he was just holding them backwards.
nice, but i believe you play it the other way around (with the higher notes to your right), and are those the only sticks you have? you can get a whole different sound from the instrument with the proper sticks

Nice instrument. We normally play with mallets that have rubber heads to give a slightly smoother sound.
