if they build this things they better be illuminated at night, specially bridge with illumination that changes colors.... that would make night much interesting
I kinda wonder what the San Francisco approach looks like! I'm sure their gonna put the line underground throughout the city. And the scale and grandness of their station makes San Jose look rather non-urban. Why do we waste so much space in a city with such a small downtown?
@davidantman the San Fransisco approach it will be a under ground to the Transbay terminal, there will be 4 lanes of tracks, 2 for Caltrain and the other 2 for high speed train.
At first I was really hoping for an underground alignment, but after watching the video I'm really warming up to that bridge. I hope they are able to light it up in a way that would uniquely identify it to San Jose (perhaps dynamic LED lighting like on The 88 in Downtown San Jose).
San Jose accepted the elevated structure, but palo alto doesn't want it they want covered trench or tunnel, the elevated structure make this look like a disneyland monorail structures. and the long bridge for the I-10 in Lousiana.
The Opponents of the High Speed Rail train who say that land values would drop due to the "ugly nature" of the bridge have an invalid argument.
Aesthetic Appeal is in the eye of the beholder. I personally like the bridge and in addition skyscrapers too.

@sideslide23 I like the elevated rail idea. It adds to the city landscape, and helps characterize San Jose.
