The whole biggest truck in the world and the strongest man...still applies to my dad, nothing like dealing with his diagnosis of lung cancer and being by him to offer him support..after all his life of giving me support..He's my champion, my Knight, my mentor, my father..
I met George, while I wuz visiting a friend in Otisville. I wuz SHOCKD! I ask if he was Him, he jokingly denied. He askd; Wut I like about da movie? I simply said, U lived da life & I wish U had more time w/ur dad. He grab my shoulder & said me2. Last thing I said; I wish U weren't here. He said me2. Dis waz 2002. Shortly after-dey transfered him. I remember how sad I felt; wishn things were different. I Jus wantd 2share dat.
man people argue with there parents some dont even have them around so if yo peoples still around you aint never to old to hug and love them life is short.
this movie inspires me so much, i fucking love it! i might have seen it 15 or 20 times and still can't get enough of it ... "And that time you told me, the money wasn't real. Well old man. I am 42 years old and I finally realize what you were trying to tell me." amazing amazing amazing movie but a really heart breaking story ...
It's actually sad how in this movie George was a real smart man and knew exactly what to do with with selling drugs. He was making money for himself and everyone around him. Yet no matter how good he was he got screwed by everyone. His mom, Diego, Derek, Mirtha, and his old friends from the 60's. Pretty much the only people in the film who stuck by him was his father and his first wife Barbra. Best movie i've seen but its sad.
If you think this scene is good, check the special features on this movie. On the deleted scene, G Jung testified against Diego Delgado.. Shit, that clip was AWESOME, should have been in the movie!
ive seen this a million times & each time i try my best but i get watery eyed everytime somewhere during the scene!! one of the best clips ever lots of meaning to it. alot of us can relate to this!!

Lost my dad years ago, but if I was still able to give him one last message it would probably be something like this. I never get emotional with movie scenes but this scene really hits me.
the times you read the Hobbit to me- bringing home the chow from Colorado-- Cindy & Bubbles-- the times we would whistle the Andy Griffith show theme song-- the frog- the fish- the avacodo's with toothpicks-- the commercials- Elitch's/Lakeside -- the fat lady reminding me of Nanny- the Miss Piggy and Kermit puppets- The Easy Bake Oven- the Mork and Mindy game-- 'going to knock your block off- yackety yack don't talk back- this scene & the following reminds me of my dad and my children.
very sad but awsome scene... amazing performance by 2 very amazing actors johnny depp and ray liotta (not sure of spelling) in a very amazing movie...this movie has made me think bout my life...some stuff i shouldnt of done some stuff i should of done but didnt...closing up, very good movie and i recommend it to anyone who hasnt seen it...srry bout my spelling i try my best lol
@02ebutuoYetaHI i wonder how many people died because of tobacco and alcohol company. How about guns? so do u blame the man that sells you these things for your death? or do u have the right to quit smoking, dont drink or pull the trigger.
@thisiselvis Yes I do have the right to not take part in all those things. But it wasn't my fault that my father died of a drug overdose when I was 3 years old. I didn't have a say in that...
@02ebutuoYetaHI Ive made my fair share of mistakes that have changed my life forever and plenty of things i didnt have a say in happened, but i always just believed that everything happens for a reason
I Actually just saw this movie for the first time last night and this seen was so sad but so perfect at the same time to sum it all up great film great film
no movie EVER will be as remarkable as this one was, pure masterpiece, this scene made me think for hours in silence about my life and all the things i wish i never did or should of done
I would have to say out of the movies I watched in my life, this is the scene that gets me the most inside. It's funny how fast time goes by, and the kid you once were is long gone. I never seen eye to eye with my dad, but more than anything I wanted to make him proud the most. I have yet to do so, and I have so little time left with him. His health is fading, and it seemed like just yesterday me and my brother were playing catch in the backyard with him.
@yellofury Thanks buddy. I just wish I could of done things a little differently, thats all. Time is one thing you can't get back my friend, and it's the one thing I wish I had the most.
@Punisher412 I hear ya manI really do .All I know is that I have done plenty of stupid crap in my past, none of which I am proud of. I do know that I cant dwell on it but learn from it and move forward in a positive way. Im just glad I am in a better situation personally than I was 10 years ago. You are right you get get back time but you get better/wiser/more humble with the time you have left
@yellofury Your right. I guess you grow with time, I just hope I have a little more time to prove a few things to my father. I hope god allows me to do that, soI have less regrets when that time comes.
You still have time.... treasure your time with your father. Unfortunately my father passed away very young in my life. Even though he's not with me here personally... he's in my heart. Only if I had the time to make my father proud. Take care....
and that FBI agent Trout had to kneel down to put my boots on and you said, "That's where you belong you son of a bitch, puttin on Georgie's boots." That was a good one pop, you remember that. And remember that time when you told me that money wasn't real. Well old man, I'm 42 years old, and I finally realize what you were trying to tell me, so many years ago. I finally understand. Your the best, pop, just wish I could have done more for you,
was the biggest truck in the universe pop. I remember how important the job we did was, how if it wasn't for us, people would freeze to death. I thought you were the strongest man in the world. And remember those home videos when mom would dress up like Loretta Young, barbeques and football games, ice cream, playing with the Tuna. And when I left for California only to come home with the FBI chasing me,
You know I remember a lifetime ago, when I was about 3 1/2 feet tall, weighing all of 60 pounds, but every inch your son. I remember those Saturday mornings going to work with my dad, we'd climb into that big green truck. I thought that truck...
Money is very real- you can get money without sacrificing your family. People who claim to do things for money or their country (going undercover) usually just want out of their responsibilities and find an easy way out. Parents who abondon their children are unacceptable and their life with their family was not interupted but finished. Your family should come first above anything or anyone. I will not allow myself to be sacrificed for anything or anyone
i thought it was really clever camera work showing him through the jail bars when he said he was 42 years old and finally understood what his dad meant by money isn't real... i've noticed a lot of comments saying money is real but that's because u guys are missing the point.... what it means is money isn't true to us.... that it's something not worth burning your life away chasing.... because life offers things much more valuable.... for george jung he realized it was his daughter...
Exactly, that was the point of the statement that money isn't real. Money is thought to be the be all and end all of happiness, a universal happiness for everyone.
The truth here shows that it isn't. Some of the best parts to life are the ones you could not ever pay for.
I think that if he had put all that effort into legal means he could have made money and had a decent life for him and his daughter. He was not true to himself or his family because he picked a life of crime over himself and his family.
money is real but you have to get it honest, legal, and without harming others- as a child I thought my dad was the most important man in the world- that has changed.
Anyway, may the wind always be at your back, and the sun always upon your face, and may the wings of destiny carry you aloft to dance with the stars. I love you Dad. Love George.
@ivana4ever this scene always makes me cry-- very dramatic and emotional scene. I remember a lifetime ago -- every inch your daughter-- i thought you were the only man in the world-- the time you told me money was not real- well Im 39 & I finally realize what you were trying to tell me-- your the best dad- may the wind be at your back- sun upon your face & the winds of destiny to carry you aloft to dance with the stars- I love you dad
@ivana4ever very emotional scene-- if you have a parent or children this scene is more emotional. This scene on here with the daughter coming to visit and him realizing he was just dreaming brings tears to my eyes every time.
@ivana4ever hooah... and when he imagines his daughter coming to see him, and when he is in the jail phone booth then sees his daughter, it just tore me up man...
i cryed like a baby today when i seen this... the past friday my dad got life in jail and when i seen this with my girlfriend i cryed sooo much i couldent helpp it
Anyway ,May the wind always be at your back, and the sun always upon your face, and may the wings of destiny carry you aloft to dance with the stars...''
"Mögest du immer Rückenwind haben und stets Sonnenschein im Gesicht und mögen Dich die Schicksalsstürme hinauftragen, auf daß du mit den Sternen tanzt."
I really love this scene, but I like the German version better 'cause his voice is softer in the synchro, which fits this scene better. Maybe I'll upload it later ...
And I'm also searching for the piano melody in the background. It's not on the soundtrack though ...
yea ray liotta helped make this movie great...he is a great portrayal of a loving dad who loves his son no matter what and accepts him for who he is....this is why this movie is so amazing...it shows the emotion and human part of the rise and fall of boston george.....this is truly a tear jerker
This scene allmost make me cry every time, I can feel the tears in the back of my eye..hehe. And I agree that Ray Liotta those a great caracter in this movie.
The whole biggest truck in the world and the strongest man...still applies to my dad, nothing like dealing with his diagnosis of lung cancer and being by him to offer him support..after all his life of giving me support..He's my champion, my Knight, my mentor, my father..
