  • suck my dics american fags

  • f*** the idea of having cops. f*** cigs switch to a blu e-cig

  • @sgibson427263 your parents experienced the fear of a possible world war with nukes during the Cuban missile crisis, their favorite president being assassinated, then his brother too, as well as Martin Luther King. They saw the young men of their time killed in Vietnam daily on the nightly news. They saw 4 college students killed by National Guard, and civil rights protesters attacked with fire hoses and worse. Art and music are people's way of lifting their spirits in those types of times.

  • Clearly born during the wrong time, wish I could have experienced what my parents did...this music just gets to me!

  • oh crummy: I would be remise if I failed to suggest the Latest in Psychops (i.e. Marketing) on fightfeces. all tied together on WarSite 3w osunrise dot com (usual format in url) ...tied into a couple insane humor site... as Noted: Go Cold War, RAND induced nuclear air-raid siren LA BabyBoomer ! wait 2 u c my 'For what it is worth + Rammstein ' on fightfeces. • great sound and music like them

    rock on

  • Brings back memories, while traveling through Europe(many moons ago), I wound up sitting in an apartment in Paris with a German and a young French lady listening to the song on her record player. What a powerful piece.

  • Art and Paul.....I came to this country because of you two.........

  • Oh man. Love Simon and Garfunkel

  • Paul now plays Martin Guitars...SO MUCH BETTER sounding......Wow!

    What a great song!

  • the whole concert was shown live on UK TV.

I still have it on a VHS tape.

  • @duckgeezer aye fuck up ya specky wanker

  • @mrblack215 Why show everybody how stupid you are NIGGER.

  • I'm 44 and I used to sing this song to my 20 years old daughter when she was a baby, though my favorite still remains "American Tune". They're so sweet and calm songs! I really love this two guys, I hope I was born earlier (and in the States, cause I'm from Argentina) for having the chance of listening this concert there in NYC.

  • @asavietto america is quite large, what countryside are you talking about?

  • Almost Famous :)

  • Good guys, good song.

  • I really liked it, thanks.

  • why singers today don't have voices like these?

  • Goosebumps

  • @DjM4xiCo I get them every time i listen to this song!

  • America is the greatest

  • I remember this. What a great night

  • Almost famous (':

  • @pcom619 this song reminds of that movie so much, everytime i hear it it gives me a heartwarming feeling:)

  • FREE AMERICA! Get rid of all those honky crackers and give the country back to the Indians!

  • @johnnygamer2011 lol fuck off

  • @TheAmericanDefender It's ironic that your name is "TheAmericanDefender" while you are actually occupying it. Give the stolen land back to the Indian tribes, hillbilly.

  • My Summerlove this year, America ♥

  • I bought this Album three times: As MC,LP and CD. Now via You Tube a part as Video Clip... It's a part of Music History! Great!!!

  • Seriously...who these days would put on a concert for a million+ fans AT NO CHARGE! Enjoy my playlist :)

  • @asavietto: All New Yorkers welcome you!

  • Last time I was on the New Jersey turnpike it was a god damn hurricane and I wasn't in the mood to count cars.

  • Well it's great to do a neighborhood concert. I hope everybody can hear us, I hope that that sound is good. I just wanna thank the police department, the fire department, and the Park's commissioner, and Ed Koch, and particularly, you know, people that never get recognized for doing good deeds for the City, a group of people that have donated half of their proceeds that they're making tonight; the guys who're selling loose joints are giving the City half of their income tonight.

  • If you cannot see the moon rising over that open field...I am so sorry...

  • The guitarist in the blue jumper looks like Dwight from the American Office.

  • Has been one of my faorites since the late 60's. They are and always will be a part of Americana and the folk-lore and music of many a generation especially the men and women of the 60's and 70's.

  • Garfunkel's voice is very nearly Angellic

  • I was there while stationed at the Brooklyn USCG Air Station and have to say it was awesome.

  • America! Best country in the world!

  • is that pat metheny on guitar?

  • @babababaduba : yes

  • @eljans I have the dvd, and the credits says: Guitars.....Paul Simon,David Brown,Pete Carr. So not Metheny there. I thought that the first time I saw it.

  • С юности люблю их!!!!! Сейчас мне 50 А лучше их не было и нет!

  • I'm 24 years old and haven't been to America yet. But it's on my bucket list to travel in the US countryside while listening to this song.

"I've come to look for America..."

  • @asavietto I think America in this song stands for a "promise land", rather than the actuall America.

But good luck on your travels anyways ;)

  • @asavietto same here, ive listened to Will Smith when visiting Miami!

  • @asavietto I did a trip to the west coast, like california, colorado, arizona, etc. it was awesome and I listened to this song the entire trip. I highly recommend it.

  • @asavietto

Look at the photograph on the back cover of 'S&Gs Greatest Hits', watch Marathon Man and take a walk in Central Park.

  • @redword2007 You bet I will! I'll manage to catch a greyhound to Pittsburgh as well!

  • @asavietto

    Nice one!

  • @asavietto i hope you have a great time in america!

  • @asavietto No one cares.

  • @asavietto And I hope you have an opportunity to watch the moon rise over an open field.

  • @asavietto Don't bother it's full of egotist and weirdo gun totting nutters and war criminals!

  • @asavietto When you get to California, do me a favor and play Led Zeppelin's GOING TO CALIFORNIA. I tell you something, these two songs make me melt when I'm on the road. And I do hope someday you do make it to America ;)

  • @mcamac1 "They say she plays guitar and cries, and sings..."

  • @mcamac1

Im from CA Nigga, N I s4y FUCK DA POLICE

  • @Mikuruification oh dear, yet another stereotypical american idiot. I know from personal experience that not all americans are like that, but you're definitely reinforcing the stereotype. The police are there for a reason, and while they may slip from time to time they're usually the ones enforcing people's rights. If you dislike them because of the way they treat ghetto dwellers, perhaps if you lot didn't steal and rob in the first place the police would leave you alone.

  • @acynicalgentleman

    leik omg I'm Scene

  • @acynicalgentleman Pay no mind to the child. As they say ignorance breeds ignorance.

Real thugs don't get access to youtube in prison anyways.

  • @asavietto just visit Mexico or some other third world country, it's started to look that way unfortunately....

  • @asavietto Me too... my bucket list is a bit more pressing as I have chronic rejection of transplanted lungs and been given 6 months to live ( a month ago) but just mad that i read your comment on this video. lol Hope you achieve it, where you from...Im from u.k

  • @bgh083

....... much respect to you:) i hope your lungs gonna be okay:)

Dont be mad,,,, have a good time:)

i really hope that your lungs gonna be healthy und especially you:)

(Respekt my german english:D:P) Much thumbs to you for your real life:)

  • @asavietto for your information this is not in the US countryside, but in NY Central Park not sure what year tho...

  • @alida2011 I see it, friend! But that song makes me want to travel throughout the entire country on a Greyhound! :)

  • @alida2011 1981 is the year. I have the dvd. I would have liked to be there but i was just 9 YO and NOT living in the US. lol

  • @asavietto may you find here, wherever she may be ;)

  • @asavietto Come on over! Where will you be travelling from? America is an enormous and beautiful country. See if you can visit at least one state from each area. Best wishes.

  • @asavietto dont forget to put a nailfile in your rucksack. you ll enjoy feeling it up your arse when you arrive at american customs, us border guards are commited to providing amusemnt to the newly arrived

  • @asavietto if it`s any help it`s easy to find,just keep heading west ,can`t miss it.lol

  • you know it's great music when you hear it and get goosebumps all over!!!!

  • @telemetry9 What the hell are you saying? If you don't like it here, go over to Iraq. Or India. Or anywhere else in the world. Find a government you do support and go there. But don't be sitting here dissing on Simon and Garfunkel. And sure as hell do not insult the men and women who have fought and died for this country.

  • Forget telemetry9 ...he doesn´t understand music, there are people who criticizes everything that comes from America, sometimes some of them don´t know what they´re talking about. This song is amazing, the lyrics are brilliant. =) I´m portuguese by the way.

  • 92 people are lost.........

  • happy 70th birthday paul simon :) !!!

  • In 1971 when I was 19 I left Alaska to find America. I had very little money, but when I was about to run out I would ask people if I could work for a day and they would let me. I was back on the road again. I did this for 6 months and all I found was kindness everywhere I went. That is the real America.

  • @jimcoope Glad you found the best of what all of us hope to be as Americans. I, too, have found the best of us, and I was born here. Thank you for letting us know we're doing it right sometimes.

  • Cry material, right there.

  • I love S&G songs !!!

    Thank you !!!

  • Napalm loaded teddy bears with genetically modified stuffing ready to populate the world with its "peaceful" lullaby.

Singing voices over vietnam or Afghanistan whilst John McCain surveys Libya for contracts for the military and corporate.

Ah - yes. The peaceful notes and chords of these men.

A congressional atomic bomb if you like over Nagasaki or perhaps all the children now dead in Iraq and now Libya.

The pathological U.S has an erection as it stands bathed in the blood of the innocent.

  • @telemetry9 gtfo

  • @telemetry9 Central Park was long before Iraq.

  • @telemetry9 Fuck off! What the hell does this song have to do with war mongers? Asshole.

  • Никогда не найти дату исполнения песни и лишь иногда название альбома . Не забывайте об этом. Вагиф

  • Wow! They have such an intimate understanding of their uniques talents to be able to sing THIS good. One of the best lesser know songs in American popular culture.

    Wonderful and so powerful!

  • i watched the concert earlier....i love falling inlove with art all over again :)

  • didn't get to see concert in central park. got to see one of the encores, tho at deutschlandhalle in West Berlin. the show was incredible, as was the music. that's been, what, maybe 28-29 years ago? can't imagine how that much time's gone by. funny thing, i'm no older now than i was then. ;-) still a thrill to hear S&G. still love Paul Simon, too. loved his last effort, So Beautiful, So What. Incredible. like a swan song, sort of. Gettin ready for Christmas day is one of Paul's best. love it.

  • I didn't know English,but liked this melody.

  • @isimuraable

    trollface.jpg

  • oops, 30 years!

  • Happy anniversary! 20 years. I guess everyone hated the mayor?!!!

  • I wish i was there...

  • What I would give to be in the park that night

  • it makes me think of my first gf and being young. life was an endless land.

  • i'm 21 years old, i live on an island, my dad got me into this when i was 15, I still LOVE their music.. Thank You Simon and Garfunkel

  • I still love them! Best harmony ever!!!

  • "Cathy, I'm lost" I said, though I knew she was sleeping...

  • "And the moon rose over and open field," Love that line.

  • I was there... a concert that I will never forget...

  • @polo985, you are lucky man that you were at the Park concert 0n Sept 19, 1981. I visited the venue in 2004 wondering where the stage was. I keep playing the whole concert from time to time. Good to see Paul Simon sings at the 9/11 anniversary today.

  • Incredible guitar solo!

  • Holy Crap I though this would be shitty. Boy I was wrong. Sorry.

  • Gänsehaut!

  • Check out Bert Sommer's version of this. They are both amazing in their own ways.

  • 92 people prefer Simon Cowell's vision of music, not the real stuff

  • che bravi

  • I'm feeling cold.

  • Oh Wow. I was there. How cool is that!! And then saw Paul Simon 10 years later in the same space in Central Park.

  • Ein Juwel! Dieser Song spielt in einer Liga mit "God only knows" von den Beach Boys.

A Jewel! This song plays in one league with "God only knows" by the beach Boys.

  • graceland still good tho

  • beautiful...

I'm empty and aching and I don't know why

  • I just read that his vocal chords have recovered and he plans on touring this year. I am not sure if that is the Simon and Garfunkel tour that they cancelled last year because of his vocal chords or if this is a planned solo tour.

  • I was there....No, i wasn't.

  • I wish there were a 'perfect' button.

  • We've STILL got an audio cassette tape recording of this when my dad who is a big fan tried recording the audio from the tv, you can still here my older sister whining in the background and my dad telling her to be quiet and stick her thumb in her mouth, lol, she's 32 now!

  • "I'm empty and I'm aching and I don't know why"

    Wow

  • what year was this ?

  • @clazzyWOG 1981

  • Does Garfunkel sing all the higher harmonies in this? I can't tell who's singing what

  • @ellie050394 That was their genius. The sad thing is i heard that Art has now lost his voice and can now longer sing. I hope it isn't true

  • @idle44

Has he? What a shame! They must be pretty old now though, surely?

  • @idle44 Unfortunately he is still in recovery from a vocal cord paresis, which he aggravated further by smoking until his doctor finally convinced him to stop. He is recovering, but the big reunion tour that was supposed to occur in 2010 is still postponed indefinitely. :(

  • I did break down and cry. Thank you so much for the upload of such a moving song.

  • Doesn't matter if Garfunkel has stage presence or not, he has the voice. The more you watch the more you appreciate his talent.

  • If you watch Garfunkel, you can clearly see that he doesn't know how to behave on a podium. He puts his hands in his pockets, then crosses his arms, doesn't really know what to do with them. The guy has absolutely no star quality. But the thing is: he doesn't need it, and neither does Simon. It's all about the beauty of their voices and the wonderful music. Brilliant.

  • what an awesome song, the lyrics and melody are perfect, so better than all actualy musics though i'm 20...

  • Always loved this duo's work, and this song is not an exception however, I recently heard it on the radio after a long long time, but this time I truly paid attention to the words and realized that besides the great melody and perfect voice blending they were singing about disillusion, about growing up, and facing your fears which isn't that obvious for someone whose mother tongue isn't English. As I am more or less going through the same process lately, I find this song probably their best one

  • it s pat metheny playing the solo!!!!!!

  • @risingsorrow I know you're kidding, but just so you know, the lead guitarist here is David Brown, who played for Billy Joel at the time.

  • @actormanic no i m not kidding,i m pretty sure he is,or his twin

  • @risingsorrow No, it's David Brown. If you see the whole concert, they even introduce the band....Plus, like I said, Brown was Billy Joel's guitarist.....

  • @actormanic sorry,i apologize.but they re really similar in the aspect

  • @risingsorrow They do have a similar look, that's true.

  • This video was just added to a music playlist at JustPlay.fm

  • What good guys. I wish I knew them :)

  • Who gives a flying shit about Art's teeth? These were the days of perfection, their voices created their beauty. Their looks were just an additional brilliance.

  • The's SO MUCH anger in today's music..it's "made" without LOVE !

  • This is a wonderful song by a great duo. It's a shame that modern artists have lost the art of creating classical rock music.

  • Dear youtube,

    This video has dislikes.

    Please fix this.

  • wow. i SO WISH i was there!!!!!!!

  • Who cares, i like it. Its a reminder of what innocence means, was.

  • So Brilliant, I have this on DVD and will never tire of watching it.

  • Hey now--you are watchin Green Day--prior to their birth---rite here!!!!!! no shit!

  • MARAVILHOOOSOSSSS!!! NÓS PERDEMOS MUITO COM O FIM DESTA DUPLA TALENTOSA.

  • I can't remember the last time I saw someone selling loose joints at a concert. The good ole days!

  • I am so glad I am able to intoduce this wonderful music to my children, all five of them being 12 and under.

  • Simon & Garfunkel are the greatest. They're music is timeless and for me personally no other group's music has ever touched me as much as them. I wasn't even alive when they were together. It's like in Almost Famous when Zooey Deschanel's character says that their music is "poetry." It truly is. The lyrics are beautiful and the music is just brilliant. S&G forever.

  • Do you all still love San Fran . . . come to our event . . .the public would go nuts. . .

  • Thank You!!!!!

  • Thanks for posting, I was born in the seventies so Did not live them, but would have like to... music was better then..

  • Garfunkel's eyebrows at 0:31

  • I'm sorry 89 people accidentally hit thumbs down. A true classic!
