It is true that nobody Illinois had could guard Sean May but Augustine could have at least helped out if the refs would have just kept their foul calling consistent in that game. After Augustine "touch fouled out" it didn't seem like the refs called the fouls that way again. Congrats to Roy Williams on what was his first national championsip. He will likely get another in 2009 with was is an excellent North Carolina team. (coming from an illini fan) :)
When Deron got drafted i remember hearing a north carolina fan calling into a radio show wondering why Raymond Felton was not drafted ahead of Deron since North Carolina won the NCAA championship against Deron and Illinois that year (with the help of the refs calling 5 touch fouls on James Augustine). I didn't see Raymond Felton or Marvin Williams or Sean May on the Redeem team. UNC had more talent that year with 5 NBA players.

Wake had a good year in 2005. But UNC won the regular season title that year as well as the national championship. However, to say Wake Forest, who has 1 Final Four and 0 national titles, has equal tradition to UNC, who has 18 Final Fours and 5 national titles, is a bit ridiculous.

Its funny though, that Duke team, that Illinois team, and the 2008 Memphis team won 37 plus games and lost in the championship. I think complacency sets in at the wrong time. Also, if you are that good, teams play their hearts out to beat you.
